People need to understand when JJ tells you to stop talking or not say anything it sometimes means she's trying to stop you from saying something that might work against you.
Nollie means the state holds off on prosecuting the person. If that person doesn't get in any trouble for 13 months the charges go away. If they do they can bring the old charges up and add them to any new charges. So it's giving someone a chance to do right.
Exactly! I was HORRIFIED when I replayed Part 1 & read the police report, which listed the "witness" to this craziness as the plaintiff's foster son! It's hard to imagine that she was approved to be a foster parent to begin with, unless this is a family placement which allows relatives to be PAID to be the foster parent in lieu of the child being placed into the system. Which certainly isn't the best case scenario or motive for a relative to step up & take in the child because the dysfunction that caused the child to be removed will likely STILL be there! NTM the relatives often go against the CPS safety plan & allow the parent(s) access to the child who's been removed. Still, it's hard to fathom that CPS KNEW about the live-in boyfriend & was ok with all this going on in the home!

Google says it's the prosecutors decision not to go forward at that time. If the person gets in any more trouble those charges can be brought back up against them. Kinda sounds like giving someone a chance, if they don't mess it all goes away after 13 months.
The plaintiff was hoping to get 5K and instead awarded $250 bucks. A "Nolle" is a Latin term for the prosecutor's decision not to prosecute a case. In other words... A Nolle means dismissal of any charges by the prosecution which is the best outcome to happen for the defendant.
There are two types of dismissals, with prejudice and without prejudice. Without prejudice means the charges can be brought up again at a later date so I would argue that is not the “best” outcome for a defendant. Dismissal with prejudice is. Depending on the nature of the charges, I would rather go to trial and be acquitted than have a dismissal without prejudice hanging over my head because of the constitutional protections against double jeopardy.
