  • Lehman Caves was one of many caves across the United States to be designated as a civil defense shelter during the Cold War. This video covers this unusual chapter in the cave's history.

Not a bad job at all. A quick, informative video, briefly describing one of the key aspects of Civil Defense, without any of that garbage about it being "all propaganda/it wouldn't have done any good" like you see here these days. Though there's a few things I'll say:
    1. "What was the plan for waste management". You're lookin at em! Notice those white barrels that say "Sanitation Kit" on them? Yeah those would come with lids on them that turned them into commodes, or the green water barrels too if need be.
    2. "Could you imagine being in a cave with hundreds of other people for weeks and weeks?" It's more like Weeks, period. Maybe in the worst case scenario, a month. From nuclear testing studies they did in the 50s & 60s, we found out that the initial fallout in the first few days would lose the majority of it's radioactivity in the first 2 weeks, making it so you could go out for hours at a time with some protection on. At that point in cities or otherwise, the next 2 weeks would be waiting for decontamination to process entirely. Though out in the wild it was probably a bit different of a story. It wouldn't be a picnic by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be bearable.
    3. "It Tasted like cardboard!" Well there must have been some sort of broken seal at one point, possibly from improper carrying or otherwise. Usually the biscuits and crackers retain their doughy but plain flavor, but maybe getting a bad smell over the years. For the food itself, it was meant for folks to Survive, not thrive. That's why there's no meet and little protein.
Other than that, it's great editing, perfect musical choice. It fits the mood, but doesn't sound haunting or creepy or dramatic. What's it called?

It was clearly marked on those cans how to be reused as a commode and sealed back up so don't let that be an excuse
