- In this video I go over my portable Chuck Box. An all-in-one camp kitchen that I use for living full time in my OVRLND Truck Camper. It contains my @coleman stove, @lodgecastiron dutch oven, kettle, cups, silverware, plates, bowls, and much more!

Make a video about what and how you cook using the Lodge pot and lid. You could do a whole series of your most frequently made recipes. Love the video, short and to the point.
100% dude! It’s on the to list. Probably sharing one within the next few weeks 🤙
Nice custom setup idea. Never thought of using Duch oven lid for fry plate! Thanks.
Thank you! The lid is a game changer
this is such a sweet box! you'll have this thing for years and years, awesome video
Thank you! Yeah, I hope so too.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but…. I love your box
Haha it’s a good box
Yes you can fit “a lot” in that box lol…
Dude this is super rad!!
Thanks brotha! 🤙
Great chuck box, and video too. I can't find the cut list...can you provide pelase?
disregard...found it
Cool! And thank you 🤙
My dad built one of these from a pattern in popular mechanics....I think. That was in the early 70s. It was part of our camping for years. He built one for me about 15 yrs ago. I'll never go camping without it. These things are fantastic!❤
That's awesome! A family heirloom
My dad made a kit box that fit in the bed of a trailer made from the rear of a 50s pickup. (These type trailers were very common in the 60s) It was big because we were a family of 6. 😊
I'm a trucker and have been thinking of starting a channel about cooking good healthy food on the road. My first thought went to cowboys and how they cooked on the trail. This might be exactly what I need to make. Brilliant idea
That sounds like an awesome idea! Would love to see something like that. Good luck on your box build
Totally great idea for a channel. Do it!
Beautiful box, I'm surprised most people don't set up something similar to this for car camping. Also a great video dude : )
Thank you! I know - it's a game changer for sure. Appreciate the comment 🤙
The instant I see somebody holding a lavalier mic, the credibility goes right out the window. It's got a clip... for clipping.
I still like your box though.
Haha jeeze, that's a strong reaction. But I hear you though. I actually ended up addressing that in the very next video because a cinematographer friend made a comment about it too
I might've missed it but which coleman stove is that? Classic 2 burner?
Yep the classic green two burner
Oh, so you call it the “Chuck Box” huh? Chuck boxes have been around in Scouting long before you were born dude! Nice try at attempting to be an innovator! 😂
Haha oh for sure. A very long history in scouting. And before chuck boxes there were chuck wagons. Definitely don’t view myself as an innovator. Just my take on one.
I met a gentleman that has a similar chuck box. He said his grandfather made it when his grandfather was in his 20s. I thought it was the coolest thing. The chuck box continues to serve after 3 generations.
Man, that's awesome! I can only hope mine has a legacy like that one day
I'm so glad I found this video when i did. I was planning to build the REI chuck box / the first chuck box you built but I like the simplicity of this one way better. way less hardware & weight which makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely. Yep! The first round was basically the REI box. While the spice rack looked cool, I found myself more frustrated by the flip up lid. It made setting up the stove more of a challenge. Good luck on the build!
a thought popped in my head when watching this. you can turn the hinge drop door into a magnetically removable cutting board -plastic or wood. removable for cleaning of course
That would be pretty rad
Do you have a video and details on your previous version?
I want to check out both.
I love that this one is lean and mean!
I don’t actually. It was gifted to a friend, but if you look up REI Chuckbox you can find plans for it 👍
Where do you keep your dish cleaning supplies
I keep that stuff in the cab of my truck. Just a scrub brush and biodegradable soap
Dude... I just finished my van build out (don't worry, its all DIY and not some million dollar rig) and was looking for something like this since I still cook out side. THANK you for the cut list, big time saver. Peace and love
Right on man! Stoked for you and no problem at all! Thanks for the comment 🤙 see you on the road
What do you like to cook on the road?
I’m glad you asked. I actually made a video about it. :)

Thanks brother!
Thank you!
New follower that loved this video! I thank you very much Sir!
Of course! Thank YOU for the support
This is a really great idea. I have been wanting to rebuild my camp kitchen and I may need to borrow this idea as inspiration.
You should! And thank you
What does the fully loaded box weigh?
I rewatched 35 pounds
Haha beat me to it! Let me know if any other questions come up
Sweet setup, why is your hat deflated?
Thanks! Haha I guess because it’s old idk
@@HeyJonMoore absolute respect, all my old hats have sweat stains but hold their form lol
Damn!
🙌
Hi
👋
Butter?
Oh yeah. Easy one to keep in the cooler 👍
Nice video. Used one in Boy Scouts back in the day. But it was always too big and took 2 people to carry it around. I like your take on scaling it down to be more manageable. If you are in the Georgia area and need a work shop for a project hit me up. Keep on trucking!
Wow, thank you dude! I’ll keep that in mind. I would love to get back to the southeast in years to come 👍
Badass
Thanks! 🤙
Replace paprika with smoked paprika. Rookie mistake.
That's all I got.
Haha fair
Always wanted to make one but was reluctant until seeing your design. Super simple and functional, thanks for the idea Jon!
Happy to help! Good luck on your build and let me know if you have any questions. I have detailed plans available on Amazon for $2.99 if you’re interested too. Link is in the description. 🤙 I appreciate the comment!
Awesome video. But bound for nowhere has done nothing original so I wouldn’t give them credit.
Thank you! 🤙 I’ve always enjoyed their stuff but I hear that
I would definetly love to watch a video about your cast iron and what to coock there
we'd find a use of it not only outdoor but even at home
You got it. Coming soon 👍 thanks for the request
Muy bonita, ligera y funcional, excelente trabajo
Thank you!
wheres the cutting instructions?
looks fantastic!
End of the video 👍
Lol...ya sed frum left ta rite, then went rite ta left.....just sayin.... great box, gunna make one fer my campin setup.thanks.
Yeah somebody called that out. Oh well, shit happens. Haha and thanks!
I built a generic one from Filson's website. It was clunky. Built an even bigger one for my bro-in-law who has a family, then built a stripped down one from my imagination and it's almost exactly yours
Right on man! Thats awesome
Great chuck box! 1/2 inch is plenty strong for this, so many builds I've seen use 3/4, which is overkill. Thanks for the video.
You bet! Thank you
Built one about 30 years ago and still use it
Right on dude! 🤙
Awesome chuck box. I need one, too. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Of course! Thank you
Most underrated piece of camp equipment!! My grandpa built one just like this for his family, passed it to my dad, and my brother is still using it! May good memories behind that little plywood box. I like your design. Maybe it’s my turn to make one
That’s awesome brotha! It does sound like you’re up to bat 🙌
Amen. Amen. Amen
Looks good. Similar style to a company here in Aus, Drifta Cramping.
Oh rad. I’d never heard of them but there stuff looks cool
It never occurred to me to use the top kf a dutch oven as a fry pan...
It’s a game changer
A cooking video would be great. Great efficiency in your chuckbox
For sure! It's on the to-do list. Thanks man
Great video! I am interested in your truck camper in the background of this video, homemade or store bought?
Thanks! I purchased it from OVRLND Campers out of flagstaff. This video is actually part of a series about the camper. Here’s a link: th-cam.com/video/H9OU7nP56TE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s-NSC-VYJW1kxg05
You had me at "shellaced"
haha love it
This is amazing. Have almost the exact Coleman stove and right now all gear is in 2-3 different bins. Got a saw and some wood. Might be a summer project! thanks for the great video.
Thank you! Yes, I've definitely been in the plastic bin black hole before too. This thing makes cooking so much more enjoyable. Good luck on the build!
Do you sell these bad boys???? ❤❤❤❤❤
Nah I don’t sell them haha it took me so long to make i don’t think the hourly rate would work out in my favor 😂
I use the cereal container in my potty tent. All TP goes in that. Remove the trash bag and toss. It's great for a trash can with the snapping lid.
Great chuck box. Perfect size. Mine is so heavy and empty, it just stays home and is a place to organize my kitchen gear. Well done video.
Thanks Barb! I stole the cereal container idea from another channel called @boundfornowhere - love that set up though. The snap lid keeps it from spilling on bumpy roads.
I appreciate the compliment!
Please tell me about your camper.
I could tell you but this video does a better job: th-cam.com/video/H9OU7nP56TE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lKmriJpqsp-oVYDL 🤙
I don’t see the cut list though
End of the video 👍
Just saw this posted on Ovrlnd's facebook. Awesome setup, I definitely need to build something similar. Right now I don't really have a system and my kitchen gear is constantly scattered in different bins. Thanks for the ideas
Man, I got so tired of digging through the disorganized bin too. Haha Im glad you found it helpful! Good luck on your build 🤙
What does it weigh fully loaded when you carry to from the vehicle to the table? How do you secure it in the vehicle while traveling?
It's about 35 lbs when full. I store it under the bench (you can see it in the Rig Tour video) and then I throw a bungee across the front.
I don't see the cut list?
End of the video 👍
Coat the box with System Three WR-LPU with crosslinker. It comes in basic colors and clear. It will make it absolutely waterproof.
Very good choices on the spices.
Right on! I’ll look into that! Appreciate the comment 🤙
did it really need to be waterproof?
@@uuuultra th-cam.com/video/GpBFOJ3R0M4/w-d-xo.html
Well done, all your sht. in one sock. Fit looks great.
Thanks man!
Thanks!
Thank you so much John. This means a ton
Cool stuff! I'm gonna have to make one of these
Thanks!
French cleat or mount on the rear to hang from a rear door or bumper would be cool.
Ooo not a bad idea at all. That would be pretty rad
I saw one that had a second box that slipped over the chuck box that was basically just the legs and was the table you sat the chuck box on top of so you didn't need a table 😀
For sure that's a solid idea too. I usually just cook on the tailgate if there's no table around
Great video, thank you😊
Thanks for watching!
We had these in the Boy Scouts. Nice job on this build.
Thank you!
We had these but about 3 times as heavy and handled with 1/10th of the care, lol. I’m sure this would work great as a mature adult who isn’t going to leave dirty dishes in the thing for weeks at a time, but oh boy I have terrible memories of these.
@@carsoncoleman7😂 I can relate
What a rad box my dude!
Thanks brotha
Nice Chuck Box, and I'm wanting that smaller Dutch oven. Hope to see a video on it . 👍
It's officially on the list. Coming soon
Nice Box! I'm working on mine now and came across your video. Can't wait to use mine, these are such a great simple idea!
Thanks! Yeah, they’re a game changer
Really nice thanks
No problem!
Nice.
Thanks!
Cool setup 👍🏼
Thank you
That's Awesome
Thank you!
I was thinking about making my own, lo and behold this video pops up. Awesome chuck box! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks man! Glad it could offer some inspo. Good luck on the build. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions
Awesome chuck box!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Great video
Thank you!
Great video and the chuck box is fantastic. I'm also loving my OVRLND Camper. Btw... I've been through a few different camp stoves and I keep coming back to the same stove you have. It's lightweight, fairly thin, the handle is nice, and it always just works... And mine has taken a beating. How are you disposing of the green bottles
Thank you! Dude the OVRLND camper kicks ass and 100% love the classic Coleman. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I save up the bottles and hit the hazardous waste station. It's a pain. I'm going to get a small refillable tank eventually.
@@HeyJonMoore I'm surprised nobody has made a business out of collecting those green cans 🤣
New sub! This will be so helpful during quail season. Thanks man!!
Right on. Thanks man!
Good video, Love the idea of the chuck box. Good luck with your channel
Thank you!
Dang man, I have just been using a cardboard box lol This is freakign awesome! Thanks for sharing this, much appreciated!! Stoked I'm in before you hit 1k subs! keep up the good work! only a few more to go.
hahahaha me too on the cardboard box for food lol hahahahah
I’ve been there too. Plastic bin, cardboard box, all the above. This has made cooking so much more enjoyable though! And thank you!
Excellent build man! Love it!
Thank you!
Awesome. Just got a Bronco. Gonna build one for myself!
Right on 🤙
👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you 🙌
So good to have found your feed. Thanks for sharing. Following you along.
I’m glad you’re here too! Thank you :)
Cool chuck box! Love the little Dutch oven. We have a larger one because our kids used to camp with us and bring their friends, but now that we are empty nesters, we really need to downsize! We actually live about 35 minutes from the Lodge factory and their factory outlet store.
Thank you! That totally makes sense. I'd say anymore than two people and I'd have to go with a larger Dutch too. Sheww hopefully you can score a deal at the outlet 🤙
@@HeyJonMoore We shop there a pretty good bit. Every time that someone gets married, they get an enamel Dutch oven. 👍🏼😎
This Box is crazy
Very cool! Might make one for myself!
Thanks!
Very well made, excellent organization.
Thank you!
brilliant
Thank you!
Cool Chuck box.
Thank you!
So clever!
Thank you!
Clever!
Thanks!
1:38 - RIGHT to LEFT actually.. LOL... also.. recommend upping your game on the spice dept.. mcCormick might be widely available.. but most of it is pretty bad quality.
Haha shit.. good catch. Botched that one. I hear ya. Already have the McCormicks though so I’m going to stick with that for now
Looks like i have a new weekend project
100%
Excellent. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
