As an altoholic, CM raider and 32k AP player I've always felt like the thief in GW2 plays like an NPC in PvE compared to the other classes. They are incredibly squishy and their rotation usually revolves around spamming one or two buttons. Every role you can think of other classes do better, more protected, easier, with better utility options and with less hassle or risk involved. Except perhaps Elementalist. Alacrity dps and pylon/lava wurm kiting at Qadim are maybe the only things they excel at in pve. Power dps is done better by other classes. Healing is done MUCH better by other classes. Tanking is (nearly) impossible on this class, especially as specter since you lose shroud uptime if you get hit Condi dps is alright as specter but again outdone by any virtuoso and scourge Boondps is better on herald/revenant or at the very least easier on many other classes The greatest demerit to its potential is the annoying initiative system that forces you to make choices in pvp for which button you'll pres, where it shines and offers a challenging playstyle. In PvE you're just the poor guy who picked the wrong class and now has to contend with a two button rotation and the same healthpool as an elementalist. With half their kit focused on running around faster, teleporting yourself around and popping poisons. It's always the thief players that are dead on the floor at bosses like Whisper of Jormag and Boneskinner because many of their skills root them in place, reduce their mobility or have forced movement. Even in fractals the class is a meme that offers nothing but AoE stealth which any mesmer worth their salt will vastly outperform if you compare them on skipping power. Even looking at the future, the only good thing thieves are getting is most poisons stacking up to 5 people applying them at the same time so you can have more than one condi thief in one party without them griefing each other with their dps skills.
That is a good point, but I am saying F1 as that is the default skill and what new players will have if they do not change it. If I say the skills that are bound to what I have and they look at their screen I think it might cause even more confusion 😁

Yep i agree with you, I use thief mostly in WvW for roaming, taking camp etc, in pvp or pve i think other class are better
Nice to see someone that appreciates thief. Its nice class, but I see mostly complains. 😅
Nice video series, minor thing for new players.. might be confusing for them when you say F1 skill and you have F1 bound on the mount on the screen. 😅

After recent ele buffs, thief is now easily the worst class in game.
