I absolutely love Chris Martin's sense of humor.
I like to imagine that Hugh Grant did something to personally offend Chris Martin in life and that Martin is taking his opportunity to pay Grant back in the most passively British way imaginable on national television.
No passive aggression there. This is honestly just the standard British way of complimenting; barbed flattery. And we don't have the term "roasting". It's just called British (Scottish, English & Welsh) humour. Lol

I feel I managed to correctly identify the social dynamics of their interchange. My comment was a joke explaining a counterfactual scenario that occurs only in my head, reinterpreting the clip. It was intended to undercut the moment by reformulating the typical British compliment as something more barbed.
It was supposed to accentuate how polite the pair are by asking readers to reimagine them as not being so...
I guess it wasn't overly successful.

Chris has always been very funny. He will say something, with a dead pan expression, everyone will believe him then he laughs and says it’s not true he was joking. I could watch his interviews all day. He’s funny, intelligent, compassionate and easy to talk with. He must be an interviewers dream guest.

I will never understand all the Coldplay hate. This comment section is completely littered with people who apparently can’t stand Coldplay but took time out of their day to watch a 3:06 min clip about them and then go on to comment negatively about a band that spreads nothing but love and positivity. And if their music is not for you sorry you’re missing out. But Coldplay remains to be number 1 because they are amazing.
I will preface this by saying that I love Coldplay.
I think the reason everyone hates them is BECAUSE they are SO positive. If you are in a grumpy mood, and across the street you see someone jumping around and being insanely, overly positive, it gets a little annoying right? I like this about Coldplay, but TH-camrs like Cinema Wins piss me off over how positive they are, and I think a lot of people are like that

Chris Martin, if you're reading this, I was at the front of the crowd for the Summer of 2000 Bizarre festival in Germany when/where Coldplay was one of the lesser known opening acts. You sort of introduced the band and hoped you would not be forgotten after the three-day festival was over. I had recently bought the Parachutes CD (from HMV in London, where I literally got it straight off the delivery truck out of a cardboard box). I think your first song at the festival was "Spies" and I vividly remember, especially when that song goes to its bridge, that yes this band is going places. Before playing "Yellow" you compared it to "Sweet Child of Mine" and said this is as big a hit as that, or something like that. You also made some remark about not many people knowing your band to which I shouted "I know you you're great" (or something like that). Anyway I'll always remember that first show 22 years ago when we were all so young. ;-)

It's his outfit for the new album. It's all in black and white, dating from 1919. Look at the cover of the album. It represents Jonny's great-grandfather's Big Buckland Dance Orchestra. And their new music takes up elements from that time. They all have artificial holes somewhere in their clothes. What they wear is always very stylish to fit the album they are playing.

I don't think it's fair to compare their old stuff with their new because they're constantly experimenting with new music. The easy thing to do would be to stick with the sound that brought them to fame but they don't do that and it definitely came together for them with AFHOD! Plus their live performances are among the best you will ever see!!! So incredible!

That was pretty funny. Not much of a Hugh Grant fan , but he should be very thrilled to have Martin say, with gracious sincerity, of how much he idolizes the guy. To me, it seems that Martin is screaming quietly to " come out of the closet" as to bless his heart as kindness to himself. For he's such a real person , genuine and above all very kind. His music of course is amazing .
