They're so adorable. I love them even though they are territorial and vicious. I got hissed at for just walking too close to one. I got bitten by a swan. Not on purpose these buggers can take a finger off easily.
Canadian geese in a nutshell CG : you wanna die bud? I'll snap your neck! * Pull out some bread crumbs CG : oh, well then in that case. Would you like something to drink while you're here? Stay a while.
Like any wild creature they accept you on their terms. As long as they sense no threat they will be peaceful. I have had Canada Geese within a few feet of me and as long as don't threaten them they go about their business. I consider them my neighbors in a way because I get along with better than some of the people I know. It goes to respect for life.
I've had a few that let me pet them on their back their feathers are so soft but I also keep the antibacterial hand wipes on me too after doing that. What can I say? I have a big heart when it comes to animals.
That is the mentality, the attitude, that a person would encounter going north. By opposition, Texas has a law that permit anyone to shoot dead wildlife that happens to cross its unfenced backyard (including humans!).
I love geese, they are such awesome birds. Not afraid to say hello... sure they can at times be a little aggressive but I love being able to visit a flock and have them remain relatively calm. One of the best birds to be sure.
*Instructions unclear. Court House did not believe that I did not use a bear to dispose of the bodies. Currently googling how to get a bear to stop chewing your leg. As you can probably guess, the animal that got close to me was indeed a gecko.*

***** You mean the one with eyebrows on its forehead? It turns out to be a female and she came back this spring to nest (again). She's still brooding as of today. Glad you liked the video!
my family and i raised a baby Canadian goose for a year, we found him by himself next to a highway and we took him in to raise him until he could fly away. We taught him how to fly and everything. His name is gerorgy and he was the happiest little goose, he actually flew away a few weeks ago right after his one year anniversary as a part of our family, i hope he's doing good and is very happy out there
You can tell these ones are used to positive human interaction. I hate when ppl chase them and yell at them because they think it’s funny. Makes them aggressive towards ppl and untrusting.
I think sometimes its a location thing as well as. There's a bird sanctuary not far from were I live that has a place were tourists can walk around and feed all sorts of birds and the birds act very trusting around the sanctuary. I also live near a hunting spot and the same ducks and geese you see at the sanctuary act totally different at the hunting location.
In a lot of cases where people get attacked, it's bc they were a dick to the animal by chasing it or trying to kick it. At that point they deserve to be bitten on the ass by an angry goose 🤦♀️
XamiNaxamis It is usually much better if you approach them slowly and peacefully. From my observations, adult geese can be very aggressive, territorial, and uncomfortable with human presence when: (1) They are nesting or raising baby geese. They don't understand people's intent of getting close to their eggs or babies and want to protect their family from harm. (2) People they've met before are generally mean to them. They learn. In these cases, they may attack even though you try your best to look peaceful. Goslings, on the other hand, tend to be much more friendly and curious, like the one in this video. He was 3 months old and hadn't seen a lot of unfriendly humans. But their parents still remain wary.
such a lovely gathering of canada geese ,They are always so sociable .My life is lived between Berlin Germany and Manchester UK .UK has more such geese though it was here in Berlin I say one with white spots over its eyes . Thought strange and now have seen several here .... Happy goose watching ..from a fellow goose watcher , Helena
Geese are pretty chill as long as they can’t sense hostility. I pass by some on walks sometimes. They hang out with ducks in a water reserve near my house. They generally go about their business if they know you’re chill.
Geese are my favorites, I have a strong bond with them, the ones I visit let me pet them and are very comfortable with me. They’re such underrated birds, I love them so much
Well, they are from Canada what do you expect... I just encountered two couple of Canadian Geese in Maryland and I got only 5 feet away from them and they just plowed in the water and followed me downstreem for a little bit, and they stopped every time I did, It was so cute
Geese are actually great companions if you are on a farm or way out in the suburbs. They're very intelligent birds and they'll let you know if they like you.
Some geese find the perfect pond and weather, and just decide to stay. And never migrate North and South. We have quite a number of them here. And always enjoy the new batch every year.
I'm playing this around a bunch of geese now. They all walking up and around me just like this repeating these calls. Interesting. Geese came out the water to
I have memories of being in a park when I was 5 and feeding these guys. I felt really happy/excited when the geese were all around me. To this day I've never actually had a negative experience with a goose. I think as long as you respect an animal's boundaries and don't mess with it or its babies, it will be a bro to you. At least in cases where the animal isn't actually big or strong enough to kill people
There are 11 subspecies of Canada goose. the ones with white patches or bars on their foreheads are the largest of the subspecies, the giant prairie Canada (anser canadensis maxima). When they get their adult plumage the ganders (males) will get a solid white bar across their foreheads. The ones that have a white "V" behind the wings and in front of their dark, almost black tails are the nominate of the species anser canadensis canadensis. The smallest of the subspecies is the diminutive Aleutian Canada goose, which in addition to being only the size of a mallard duck, have a distinctive white ring around their necks. The next up in size is the Richardson's Canada goose, which is only slightly bigger than the Aleutian, but is distinct because the neck ring doesn't close on the back, and it has the white "V" between the wings and tail which the nominate has. In addition, the Richardson's is found only on the central and eastern flyways, while the Aleutian uses only the Pacific flyway. This is already too long-winded so I'll leave the other 7 until some other time.
When I went to New Jersey there were a shit ton of geese there. I held out my hand to one of them to see what it would do (I have ducks I feed every day here in Florida that are around the same size so I’m comfortable around birds like that) and it laid it’s head in my hand but my friend scared it away before I got a picture. I got a picture of it holding its head out to me though.

Where I live, there aren't any geese, but a ton of ducks. You see them everywhere, and they quack all the time lol. They are all friendly though. Not afraid of people. People don't bother them, and they don't bother people. Coexisting as it were. I enjoy seeing them, they're pretty cool.
They live right behind where I live and they eat out of my hand regularly. Some of them are extremely friendly and don’t show as much fear around me. They’re awesome
Canadian Geese are my favorite duck! Grown up around them! Been chased by a Male goose! He thought I was his girlfriend! Chased me all the way to my car!
in Sweden we have these guys fly over for a few months. i like to sit with these cuties at parks and in fields and just chill with them, they gather around you because you scare of hawks and they learn to be chill around you. iv even bin able to pet them and hand feed them :D

Yeah, that’s because these geese have adapted to living near humans in urban settings. Their ancestors were kept as pets or used as live decoys by hunters.
