How to remove links or xref files in AutoCAD

I am not too fond of this dailux evo. Is it another CAD SW system?
As for the xref drawing that cannot be easily eliminate, how did you remove it in order to use it again as a part of your new file/project.
My only solution is to save/save-as tge old drawing as under a new file name and give that xref a new layer and treat it as a block.
Please help me see what I did not see as a quicker method. Thanks.

Edit: Problem was solved by saving the dwg as 2010 version. 3018 s8me reason did not work at all...
damn, didn't have any extrenal links and still can't impornt . . . hate when this happens and I don't know what is wrong :D
