Not at all a fan of that disgusting cigarette but I agree with the rest of your observation. I've always loved this song and his performances and would have wished it had been even more successful.
Sinatra is my all time favourite singer. An absolute powerhouse performer who owned the stage and sang from the heart. A flawed man, certainly, but he loved what he did and there's never been anyone like him since (he was one heck of a good actor too)
When the greatest story teller, sings one of the greatest ballads ever written. Nobody lives a song like Sinatra. I must have listened to this live and studio version a thousand times, and yet still everytime, it brings me to tears.
Just WONDERFUL :))))))))))))) It´s interesting that Frank puts a cigarette on --- and then he´s not smoking 😀 --- GOD -- I love this man and his voice so very much. 3 minutes -- and he tells a story about, how the life is and then he touches a lonley man´s heart. THANK YOU SO MUCH Frank. I have you in my heart, till to the end of all times. --- thank you buddy.
I saw Frank Sinatra perform 4 times in my life. He is, fabulous fantastic. His voice is so silky and smooth. There was no one like Frank and they never will be again.
He and his buddy Dean and were heavy smokers. But it was Dean that was known for always having a cigarette 🚬 and a glass of apple 🍏 juice in his hands which was part of his act that was to convince you that it was booze like Foster Brooks.Frank was great! 👍 But in the opinion of a lot of people, it was Dean that had that velvet , silky, olive oily smooth voice.
Life is a cycle, ups & downs, sunrise, sundown, seasons, children grow up, new kids take the crown... Life is a repeat, endless repeat, but with a beat.
He was in his prime here imho. Love this song....great saloon song when you're drinking' alone - it fits. I almost makes you feel good about feeling bad......
A 70 year old guy here, eyes starting to water even after decades of rock, hard rock, metal- just hearing this again
I teared up just reading this. I love him so...😊❤
@@violet9853Sinatra lo amiamo tutti. E io non ho problemi a tapparmi le orecchie col rock
Saw him live in 1981. Best popular music concert I ever saw. By far.
The elegance and timeliness of lighting that cigarette, sitting, and beginning to sing. The cadence of it all.

This is just one of the reasons why SINATRA still is the best,l love him.❤🎉😅
This song brings tears to my eyes.. This song is so profound. Listen, Hear, Understand then learn. Just wonderful. Frank lives this song for us.
It's wonderful to have a "live" version of his excellent studio rendition.
On my top ten since my college days in early 1970’s! Every word written and interpreted are flawless by the greatest singer!❤
When the greatest story teller, sings one of the greatest ballads ever written.
Nobody lives a song like Sinatra.

Always loved this song, very moving
There's another version that l also liked was by Harry Belafonte, he put a lot of feeling into it as well.
An extraordinary song interpreted by an extraordinary singer.
❤ 😢 his love for music 🎶🎼🎵 will live forever! A genius!
R.I.P. Gayle Caldwell (formally of the New Christy Minstrels) and the lyricist of this wonderful song.
I didn't know that Gayle Caldwell wrote Cycles? But l first heard it sung by Sinatra. 0:11 0:11

Do you know if Frank sang Rain in My Heart live? from cycles
Never sang it live unfortunately
Funny you mention that song. Just sent a karaoke link to it to the DJ tonight. Rain In My Heart.
I don’t think bbc radio 2 have ever heard off Frank Sinatra shame on them
They can't play this. Frank was a man and this might offend some of the weirdos in public life now.
Of all of Sinatra's tunes, this just might be the most poignant.
Frank was a bit arrogant, and a (bit) mafioso. But quality of singing top
You don't know what your talking about n M.Y.O.B.😢
It's not that way big brother, you need to be tough sometimes, that too if you need to be remembered as a Man.
If you had said that to him in person, what would you say three months later when you’d come out of your coma?
