    I feel the pressure of having success as early as possible at LOT. Maybe thanks to my Father who never had a real career despite the fact he is very ambitious. I'm only 19 but thinking about the future makes me anxious every time.

    I'm guilty of over-planning & over-rationalising, and thus I've wasted hours still not completing or even starting my project.

    I think that you and Martin should make an episode about depression. It would be interesting to look into more detail of what you guy think about depression.

    Don't measure success by comparing yourself to others. There will usually be someone more successful than you in any area unless you are the top person. Even then, whose to say you will be happy. (btw: I'm a 46 year old teacher)...Edit: The guys addressed this in the video.

    • @cheminem
      @cheminem 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you are assuming that everyone prioritises happiness over success. I would say that a lot of ambitious people have it the other way around. The fact that there will always be someone better than you is great as it forces you to push yourself to reach your potential.
      Leonardo Da Vinci was not happy with the Mona Lisa, in fact it is actually an unfinished work of his. Do you think we would have his works of art if he didn't compare himself to others? I don't. But then again you could be right.

    • @gadgetstop321
      @gadgetstop321 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chem Was DaVinci competing with others, or competing with himself? The point I was trying to make is that some people think that they will achieve happiness when they are the best. However, many ambitious people enjoy the journey, including the hard work.

    • @cheminem
      @cheminem 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree with you. I was just playing the Devil's advocate I suppose. By the way, I think Da Vinci was competing with the likes of Raphael and Rembrandt, etc. but I see your point.

    Thanks for this episode, guys. And huge thanks for pointing out the episode about changing mindset (since I wanted to ask you how to change from pessimistic into more optimistic mindset)!
    Just wanted to add that it's very important to remember it's never too late to learn new things and do something differently.

    So many great nuggets of wisdom I think about almost every day as an aspiring 23-year-old who’s reached a comparatively small amount of life success.
    Thanks for reassuring me that I AM NOT ALONE!

    This was posted like 2 years ago. I am looking at my life, i am in my 20's(23 y/o), and i want to be productive, and i watch, i take notes but at the end of the they i am still the same old me. When i see this it make me wanna jump of a building. The problem is, we have a lot of content or information, but we have lack of experience in implementing stuff. I really envy u two. I want to be more productive, maybe in 40's i will achieve this. Great content, looking forward for ur new videos

    This video was so well organized and had a great flow that made hearing old/forgotten ideas or thoughts feel like a nice cold splash of water waking you up next to the new ones. From start to finish has something for everyone and was a perfect pick me up for myself! Thank you both so much for striving to help others, it's truly an inspiration to better one's life.

    This is so helpful. I was addicted to videogames since I was about 10 until 20 and that kind of addiction wasn't really acknowledged yet back then. Last year I still had the feeling that I had wasted my potential years by playing videogames, but who am I kidding, I'm 22. Thanks for this.

    Do you guys have any advice on time management? Specifically for college students who have to work on top of going to school. How do you find the time to push through the exhaustion to persue career goals outside of work and school.

      This happens when self-esteem is dependent on external conditions like financial freedom, fame, a stereotype. Success to me is a generic word, it could mean different things for each person.

    Hey Thomas, something I noticed when I look at "successful" people is that they tend to have had their successes at a young age. However I do believe that you can be successful at any age. So I'm wondering if young successful people are just more visible online than those who have had their succes at an older age or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places to find these people. What are your thoughts?

    • @TheInforium
      @TheInforium  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My guess is that your social circle/interests/browsing habits/etc lead you to see more people who are visibly successful at a young age. Perhaps if you were really interested in being an attorney or a doctor, you might see more people who didn't really become break-out successes until later in life. Additionally, I'd say it's a safe bet that - on the whole - the people who really "get" social media and know how to use it to show off (and enhance) their success are going to be younger. This isn't universal (for example, Aaron Marino is in his 40's), but I think it's usually the case.

    Just wanted to say that if you do an episode about depression, it needs to be well researched because there is a lot of quackery on this website surrounding uneducated opinions on depression. That said, some of the best therapists in the world were never mentally ill to begin with. Just please don't make ANOTHER video on this platform where it's said that getting over depression/anxiety is easy if you just do x. None of those quick, 'easy' fixes work for mental illness. I've been struggling with anxiety that leads to depressive symptoms all my life, and I would be very interested to hear what you guys have to say.
