As a travel vlogger, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Nizam Museum at Mukarram Mahal, also known as Purani Haveli, in Hyderabad. The museum is located in the old city of Hyderabad and is a testament to the opulence and grandeur of the Nizams of Hyderabad.
The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, including the personal belongings of the Nizams and gifts that they received from various dignitaries and heads of state.
In 1936, Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan celebrated the silver jubilee of his reign as the ruler of Hyderabad. To mark the occasion of his silver jubilee, the Nizam was showered with gifts and presents from all over the world. The gifts were a testament to the Nizam's popularity and the respect that he commanded among his subjects and peers. The display includes models of famous buildings made of silver, silver caskets, and other gifts made of silver and gold. The highlight of the exhibit is a gold tiffin box worth crores and a special painting made of crushed precious stones such as yellow sapphire, blue sapphire, emerald, ruby, and diamonds between two mirrors. The theft occurred on September 3, 2018, and the police immediately launched an investigation into the matter. The theft was a significant blow to the museum, and the police worked tirelessly to recover the stolen artifact.
