@TwoBassed agreed. I own a couple of Gibsons I got good deals on, but with currently pricing, I wouldn't touch a new one.
I'm on the lookout for more reasonable prices in a comparable quantity level. In fact, I think better quality for less might actually be attainable.

Glenn 😂 I laughed so hard at the try on haul comment! Btw regarding requests for clean tones I think it’s because metal does have beautiful clean tones like on master of puppets, battery, a tout le monde and that sort of stuff so people want to hear that as well.

Great video once again, Glenn! Your work caters to the rock/metal audience, and I think many people could find your videos extremely useful. Would love to see your channel hit that 1 Million subs mark, because you and your team deserve it! Have you considered really pushing out the (lame and attention destroying) short form format? One of my favourite Devs, PirateSoftware, managed to bring lots of viewership in by releasing a sea of his clips. Like you, he has really great advice that he articulates in an easy to understand way. Not only that, but you have some funny bits that would really work great for it! Take Care!!

Schecters are such solid ass guitars. I had C-1 Hellraiser that was my work horse work several years. We'd do two our practices, tracking demos at home, throwing it into a trailer, playing a gig, and the thing would NEVER go out of tune. They're just built great.

I bought Schecter Demon-6 Crimson Burst new for around 450$ and applied several mods down the line:
* Replaced stock frets with steel jumbos (around 130$ total expenses) - this was not a critical requirement stock frets actually almost didn't rock, but I just love the smoothness of bends against steel frets. Also they will last forever.
* Replaced stock tuners with GraphTech Gear Ratio locking ones for 120$ - this is a single best quality of life upgrade.
* Replaced stock pickups with Seymour Duncan Jeff Loomis Blackouts for 250$ - I can talk about these for hours, just watch the vids online, they seriously melt faces (took some filing for plastic housing for bridge to fit).
* Replaced Stock nut with the same drop-in replacement GraphTech Black TUSQ "PT-6642-00" 12$ - stock nut was cut way too deeply for my taste.
Grand total 962$ and guitar is 10 times better, than any stock instrument offered in this price range! Very robust and stable. I own this instrument for around 5 years already and there's not even a single small crack on the finish.
That was the cleanest clean sound that ever cleaned! I hope schecter sells those as aftermarket!
I don't think so. They are Duncan Design Active HB-105 pickups and I think they are OEM only.
I have a Schecter Demon 6 too (the older Crimson Red flame one) and I liked those pickups (but still changed them out).

Too many people sleep on Schecter. I bought a Devil Elite in the mid 2000’s for less than 500 dollars US, it has been an excellent guitar.
I was sleeping on Schecter myself. Long story short, I got a Schecter Demon 6 too (the older Crimson Red flame one) and I absolutely love that guitar.

I don’t know why I don’t own a Schecter . I’ve held literally thousands of guitars bully guitars rarely felt right in my hands but every Schecter I’ve tried felt amazing. Well constructed ,finely finished and very easy to play.
I guess i need to put one on my wishlist for Christmas.
I recently got a Fernandes Revolver with a Sustainer. Thinking now I need to try a Schecter with a Sustainiac given how much fun that little gadget is. 🤙
I can’t recommend a Schecter enough. Especially their older models. Many were neck through, string through (which I prefer), looked beautiful, and played even better. They kind of embraced the evil/metal thing a little too much for me now, but they still have some genuinely gorgeous guitars. They just play and feel quality. You owe it to yourself to get one.
If youtube creators could find a way to form some sort of union. Because; I agree, youtube executives that run the discipline are pretty vague when it comes to applying the rules. I never had to deal with them but I heard a couple of major youtubers did (Rick Beato and 66Samus for example.) Keep up the great work Glenn!!

I made sure to watch the whole thing since YT wanted to fuck around. Also, I really love your IR's and wanted to shout them out! I have the Archetype Rabea plugin with the left cab section side using your ENGL V30 -57 @-12 with room mixed in at-30, and the right side selection using the Neve mix IR also set to -12 mic, and -30 room mixed. Sounds unbelievable and I was already happy with a mix of default and your V30-57 comboed.
Oh, one thing I wanted to ask you Glen was about possibly checking out bass guitars that are cheaper like you have been with guitars? My wife has had interest in bass, but never took the dive to try it. I've considered getting a bass guitar to have for her to play whenever she wants to, and if I ever want to track with it I can do that instead of the monotony of programming midi bass. I've seen that the Harley Benton B-450 is ranked #9 in sales on Thomann, which is pretty crazy on it's own, and my wife like the look of the QTB model. So it seems like a win win at $169, but I'd really love to see you review a few basses for the 2 others that are interested in that. Thanks!

I have this guitar. It's awesome, however I had issues over time with the pickups and pickup switch. I swapped them out with EMG 57/66 TW pickups and this guitar is perfect (for me at least.).
I highly recommend it in your in the market for a solid 6 string

Hi Glen, I think there's one thing about clean sound. It gives you far more understanding of the pickup characteristics. For example I like a pickup, which won't distort the clean sound. Also no effects sound makes it easier to understand amount of higs/mids/lows

Side note, the 6505 combo you recommended roughly a year ago has gone up in price quite significantly. With that in mind, is there another cheap equivalent? Should I get a 5150 Iconic combo, or should I stick with plugins on my laptop?

Glen, are you ever concerned that the guitars that are sent to youtubers for review are not of the same build standard, setup and (i hope not) Hardware as what is generally sent out? At the very least I don't think it's absurd to imagine some guitars sent for youtube demos may have had more time spent on them.

Dude!!! This is by far the best guitar video EVER. I'm 70 years old and a beginner. I've been watching videos and buying guitars and "gear" for about a month now. I've probably spent a grand total of an hour actually trying to learn to play! Yours is the first channel that isn't torture, and I thank you. I just subscribed and look forward to more. I've got my interest back....mostly because of your irreverent humor and attitude.
I absolutely love Glen's "toned down" videos!! His filtered stabs are SO good!
Schecter has quickly become my favorite brand. I have three now.. A C1 Hellraiser, Blackjack Avenger, and a Omen Elite FR. All three are incredible, but the neck on the Omen Elite FR (the cheapest of the lot) has a 41mm nut and that 1mm makes a HUGE difference for me. I love that thing!
Schecter Demon 7 owner here. Years ago I bought it on sale for $400 and it is still one of my best gear purchases to this day.
I found the schecter house wound pickups to be "twangy" and very country friendly. So, with the "not EMG" actives, it sounds much more metal. That neck clean tone was luscious, the high gain tones are smokin. What a nice sounding axe.
The Schecter Omen Extreme 7 is $549 and it's the best guitar on a budget. For $609 + shipping you can get the case with it as well

Yeah, what is permissible on YT can be very subjective. I totally agree with where the problem lies too with regard to brand pricing. If Thomann actually cared about my last purchase I’d still be buying off them, but alas here we are! I now hunt for any brands from anywhere other than Thomann and only buy the big G or F secondhand from reputable places. But my favourite guitars are of the Hagstrom, Greco and home built varieties. Oh and some Ibanez too…. Japanese for Greco and Ibanez are just as good as any of the brands they mimic.
I don't play metal, but I do play a Schecter! I just found a used Schecter PT special that's a T style guitar with a P90 in the neck and a single coil bridge. I'm blown away at the quality of this guitar! Ash body, roasted maple neck, awesome fretwork, brass saddles, series and parallel switching, body and neck binding. It's literally shocking how good this guitar is for the money. I'm a fan! Definitely not my last Schecter. Btw, I paid less than $500 for it used. It's $699 new I think. Get a Schecter people!
Great video, Glenn, and a very important issue that strikes at the heart of something very wrong with our day and age. The problem is that it's impossible to know the rules when someone keeps moving the goalpost. The rules of the game change in the middle of the play, and you never know which play it's going to be or what rule. It's arbitrary and bad for society. I can accept that TH-cam has their sandbox and creators must work within it. But they treat creators like garbage with their utter opacity. This is a very wrongheaded way of doing business, and yet it strikes at what is wrong with the Silicon Valley mentality.
Almost forgot to mention; Glenn, your playing is drastically improving! I love to see your passion for the instrument!

I've been playing an Omen Elite 6 for about 2 years. QC is my only complaint(some scratches and tiny dings, no big deal), sound is exactly what I wanted, materials are beautiful, and I have no regrets.

Glen, I just wanted to say I appreciate your commentary on business practices and agree with you wholeheartedly.
I previously owned the 7 string version and that guitar was put together very well. Surprisingly no sprouted frets and they were pretty rounded out. With a quick set up it was ready to go and the tuners held up very well and the pickups were not bad at all and very quite. In the end it was an awesome guitar I would recommend. Don’t knock it till you try it

I thumbed up the orignial video and still agree with you now. 👍🏻 I just bought a used, budget Schecter (Diamond Series...a basic C-6, I think) and I'm very happy with it. I'm pretty sure it was built in 2012, definitely in Indonesia, and the only thing I want to do is file the fret ends a little bit. They're poking out just a tiny bit, and that's really not surprising for a 12 year old budget guitar! And yeah, the Schecter humbuckers sound just fine.
You should start your own history channel with that tie. 💪💪💪
I have a Schecter Demon 7 and I love this thing. Definitely a great value for the cost and I'm surprised it isn't being sold for more. Only issue is I'll have to adjust it because if the high E is tuned down to a D, the string isn't high enough above the fret board so frets 2 and 3 buzz because the string lays too low across the 4th fret. Easy fix though and I'd imagine my 7 is equivalent quality to the 6 just has an extra string.

7:52 C'mon Glenn when people ask for the clean tone they want to hear the opening to One by Metallica and nothing else matters. Those are the only clean tone riffs we know.
I got one Schecter Diamond Series Damien 8 from 2010, crafted in South Korea. The best piece of instrument I have ever played and owned. I can't and I won't describe how pleased and happy I am with that marvelous and rock-solid monster guitar. Since I got it, I no longer look for 6 string or 7 string guitars. 6 string necks feel like a broom stick in my left hand now. And I like it that way. Anyways, the reviewd beauty in the video looks phantastic. Thumbs up to the lucky person that gets it !
