My Huawei GT Runner VS my Garmin Forerunner 945 comparison. I use BOTH and use them specifically for road running training and races (from 5KM to Marathon Races). I am extremely pleased with the Huawei GT Runner. Was hesitant at first as my priorities are very specific. 1) The most precise GPS tracking. 2) Ease of use. Having used both, I can safely say these are the 2 best GPS watches I know for running. The GT Runner GPS tracking is SUPERB. Perhaps due to the external GPS antennae located on the edge of the strap rather than in-body, plus the dual band GPS that can lock onto GPS, Galileo, Glonass, Beidou,.. Add in the amoled screen and much cheaper price, it's gonna be my go-to watch from here on. I have been smiling ever since I "upgraded" from my Forerunner945 to my GT Runner. I can't say enough how good this Huawei watch is.
Have you used the Garmin forerunner 45? How does this watch compare ... I'm trying to decide which one to get. I really just want it for distance tracking for my runs. Don't care much for being able to answer calls and watsapps etc(I would prefer to not even have that function) Your thoughts would be appreciated 👍🏻
Great review / overview of the GT runner, thanks. Helped me a lot when choosing a new sports watch. Having used Huawei sports bands / watches in the past I have found them to be more than adequate for a hobbyist runner (run 5-10km 2-3 times a week) such as myself. HR monitoring and sleep tracking being generally sufficiently reliable on my previous Huawei Watch FIT to give me a good feel for where I am athletically. Have to say I am very pleased with my GT runner, with fairly heavy GPS use (about 8 hours)I still get 6 days from the battery and the GPS and Heart Rate Tracking seem very accurate. I should say that although the watch is geared towards runners out of the box most of the screens can be swapped out or moved around so you can customise it to your liking. Not sure who measured the 3 hour charge time as from 17% mine took about an hour to fully recharge. I put it on charge after my run and it was charged by the time I had showered etc. I notice you had skin temperature on yours but I have not been able to enable this so far, not sure if it has been removed or I'm just not looking in the right places! Overall though very impressed. Having used it I'm really not sure why you would buy anything else as a runner. All the alternatives in the market are either way more expensive or have terrible battery life! Unrelated note, I moved from a Watch FIT to the GT Runner and it is surprising how much of the functionality is common (HR monitoring, GPS, Recovery tracking, VO2Max, 5-6 day battery life, notifications and many more). I actually miss the fitness courses that I had on the Watch FIT but are not available on the GT Runner. For £55 in the UK that is an absolute bargain.
I've been looking for such deep reviews for GT versions for months at least you're the first to show all metrics, take the runner for a run! and use the watch ss consumer not as promoter. Thank you so much! I don't need to watch any other review after yours.
I've had the GT Runner for about 1 week and I've done 3 workouts of 10 km each, the problem is that this distance counts 600 meters less than the other 3 training clocks. Tom Tom runner 3, Garmin 6s and Amazfit Stratos 3. Regarding the heart rate monitor compared to a cardiac chest tape in tom tone, the difference is 2 to 3 beats. Training screens can be changed to our liking. The luminosity is very good.
i have the Huawei watch gt runner it is amazing only problem is that i use iphone and music app doesn't work otherwise it is a great smartwatch. Another thing to mention is the accuracy of the heart rate sensors and all others features it is on point 9/10. Good job huawei.
Better looking than the regular GT3 IMO (I don't like the markings on the outer ring of the regular GT3). Also, the plastic case means less risk of damaging stuff around you (Something that happens to me every once in a while with metal watches).
Awesome video. Well explained. Can I ask a favor? Could you please create a running plan, show all the steps involved in the creation, and maybe follow it for a few days to see how the AI works and adapts? Very curious about the running plans with this watch, but no one has actually talked about them.
I upgraded from GT to GT runner about 10 days ago and I tried a 10K coach program. You will need to answer some questions (what program you want? Say 10k), then you will be asked r u preparing for a race, how much time u have (say 3 months), how much u run last month (say 200km), which dates of the week you want to train (say 5 days, and you picked Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun). And the target (you can chose an easy target or more difficult one). Then it will generate a 15 weeks training program based on your input, it will integrate into the Huawei Heath and your watch calendar auromatically. Say today you follow the program, then after the training, you can see how much target (in terms of percentage is completed). Typical trading for a day be walk 5 mins, then 5mins x 4 (heart rate between 109 to 134 during each 5 min session) and 1 min walk between each 5 min run. On the other day, it will be 30min easy run, and then a 5K test on another day. Several weeks later after more mileage, you will be asked to run a 50min endurance run... Something like that, if you for any reason, you do not want follow the predefined program on a particular day, you can chose "skip the program" and you will train as if you haven't joined the training program on that particular day. I hope I have explained clear enough. Other than the AI coach mentioned above, you can also try the lactate threshold test, which will ask you to to a 8 min outdoor run as warm up, and then a number of repeat 3.5mins run with progressive increase of heart rate range (say 1st 3.5min under 130-139, then 140-149, 150-159, 160-169, 170-179...) which will be rather tired. After the test is finished. You will be advised your estimated lactate threshold heart rate as well as your lactate threshold speed. You can then used the to determine you maximum heart rate.... BTW, I enabled the music during my training today, and I found that the average speed has been increased some how. Anyway, it's really fun although it will drain some power! Anyway, it is a great watch, and have much improvement from the GT.
Hello. I want to ask you something. If I make a quick stop during my running or cycling session only to restart again after 1 minute does it stops monitoring my route and restarts automatically or is there an option in the settings that I should enable? This is important for people to know in order to avoid wrong measurements.
The error is usually quite small. The watch can calculate the distance and speed for you by your cadence and heart rate. You can also correct the total distance manually when you stop running. I run on a treadmill these days using the GT runner and the experience is quite good.
Awesome review and exactly what I was looking for, was in between these 2 watches and the Amazfit Gtr 4. I'm going with the GT Runner! Sold! Haha thanks again.
Owning the first iteration of this sportwatch, the GT3 and this one are interesting, if in the future I wanted to upgrade mine, trying to save some money, 10+ months after the release date. I was wondering if the sensor is the same for the two sportwatches. I do not run, but I like long walks, so in this case I would go for the GT3.
Just few questions....you didn't mention field data screens. I know that you can change on main screen to get data you want, and you can scroll to other data, but can you change number of fields, like on garmin watches? For example, is there possibility you can have only 3 data fields on main screen and larger numbers? I found on gt and gt2e that small number is a bit of a problem...for runners, it's importan to have possibility to change many data and also to see clearly that data...and one more thing. Does touch screen locks? Also important feature for runners.
As i can see from 12:25 - 12:34 this watch is also has that issue, just as my GT 2e within 7 seconds it shows current speed from 6'45" to 11'47" ....and i don't really understand the reason why My Garmin 235 has never done that. With this "problem" is very hard to train when you have to run with a given pace Anybody has the same issue with Huawei watches ?????
If your budget is below 100€, the Huawei GT2e is still a great option: also 2 weeks battery life but charges much quicker (about an hour i believe) and GPS too. I do wish it had a crown too though.
So I have been watching a lot of reviews and I got my mind on a huawei watch, but I have a samsung galaxy S21 Ultra so I don't know if it's a good idea. Does anyone know if there's a problem with compatibility? I've read somewhere that some functions might not work because google doesn't support huawei but I can't seem to find anything conclusive on it. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me more, thanks in advance
Great review! Is it possible to create a running plan on the health app, sync the plan to the watch and then run at the day scheduled leaving the phone home? Thank you in advance for your help.
Yes, you can start a running training plan from Huawei Health, also create custom run trainings, and both can be sync to the watch (GT 3 and GT Runner only, for now). So you can have your running plan in your watch, no phone needed.

Does anyone know how the watch performs when you upload routes to it? I want to use a watch that displays a live map, it would be really usefully when I'm running cross country and need to know which paths to take so I don't have to keep checking on my phone
I am interested in a watch/bracelet that can monitor my heartbeat but also I need it to have a microphone. Can you recommend something? I'm not interested in being new generation and also I am not a runner. Can you rank some for me please?
Does it record all day stress? Do you know how often it takes a sample heart rate for all day tracking? Is it the same as Garmin that takes one every second? I keep thinking that I could dump my Fenix 6 for these any thoughts?
Thank you for the great review!well thorough in details.Especially for someone eyeing for regular smarwatch which put more focus on fitness aspects(runners)..enjoyed your review..gotta be more review like this rather than youtuber just showing the watch..
@@Techtablets thanks. i do run (not a lot though). i guess ill go with gt3 pro as i find it more "usable" for all occassions just by changing the strap. the gt runner will always look like a sports watch, regardless of the strap.
With the lates update you can choose 6 data fields per page ...the watch is even better now ...tons of parameters to choose.. especially for running and cycling
Great video, well done. I wonder if you could advise me please. I am a cyclist with history of AF, I need a watch that will sync with a heart rate chest monitor like the polar H10 for accurate HR monitoring when I am out cycling, but also I want the watch to have its own very accurate HR monitor so I can wear all the time. I have a Samsung Android phone, but could get a different phone. Can you recommend a suitable watch, would this humeri gtrunner be suitable for me for accurate heart rate readings, thank you
Great video, thx. In terms of NFC beside AliPay which payments /credit cards are offered? Is there an explaination why charging GT Runner last for 3 hours and the hardware wise similar GT3 only lasts for 1 hour?
The only detail that is the most important for me is if there is always on display through running..this is the best detail in my garmin ...i run with several bands and this was the problem ..i raise my hand and sometimes it doesnt open the screen..so i return to Garmin always..is there always on screen when running or mtbiking?
Hi sir. I am curious about ur route.. Did u ran along the path ways or not?. Cause as per your Huawei apps or the map, Some points or parts of ur run were off the road... Really I'm just curious how accurate this gt runner. I owned a gt2 pro.. But its gps tracking was off the radar. It really sucks. 😁
Nice...anyway, you've been churning out alot of reviews recently...making up for lost time? 😅 Not that I'm complaining... Quite detailed as always... Love the outside sceneries... 👍👍
Pretty much I have a backlog of tech to review from being away for 6 weeks in New Zealand and also a lot of tech arrived at the same time so quite overloaded 😅
@@Techtablets No sir . Is your helth ok now ? Hope you are doing well. I have Ulcerative Colitis and ankylosing spondylitis so i didn't get vaccine at all it was my call. I got C 19 4 months ago ...high fever for 2 days and no complications.
I have been a long time Garmin user during the past. Own a fenix 5, fenix 6 and 255. After few weeks with this GT Runner, got to say I love it. I don't use map during running, only focus on my heart rate for health goals. To be honest, the heart rate sensor on the GT runner is better than my fenix 6. I did searched online for some review, based on some medical equipments result, this GT3's heart rate sensor is at the same level on Apple Watch, best for Andriod phone. Really hope they could add EDC on this model, the GT 3 Pro wasn't my piece of cake. The GPS is good enough, sleep tracking sucks. I really like the Fenix and Epix line, however, this GT runner is way more comfortable to wear than my Fenix 5 and 6, it in the same level with my 255 in weight with better looking and more air under the watch, keep my arm dry on day time. Love the watch, finally, a watch that I could see all my messages in different languages and answearing my phone calls on my watch. Bettery can last me around 7-9 days with time always on the screen. I bought it on sales for around $A 400, it is not even half of my fenix products, I believe for a normal person who just need a watch for their activty monitoring, park or city run, it is a decent watch
I have this watch and everything is great, especially the battery life. However the calories burn calculation is way lower than other watches. If counting calories is what you are focusing on, you shouldn't buy this watch. I am just a hobby jogger so this watch is more than enough for me
It will adapt to your personal running stats, keep in mind he got a covid(?) booster the day before. Estimated recovery time will probably be 1-2 days after 4km runs for a beginner
the inability to export to Strava (and other sports sites and gpx files) makes this watch useless for a slightly more advanced runner. Another downside: it's not possible to display your current pace, average running pace and segment pace on a single screen. The runner doesn't have time to switch between screens, or at least he doesn't want to worry about it. A good watch, but not for athletes. It is a pity only for the wasted potential. This could be a real competition for Garmin.
Garmin is the best when comes to data, mapping, however, Gt3 got a better heart rate sensor, better step counting, better screen, built in speaker for phone calls and social media voice calls, it is not even half of the cost for Garmin, t is under 35g without band and thinner than all the garmin fenix line, most importantly, Garmin got region lock for multi-language support in 2022 and not allow you to answearing phone calls on their most expensive products line.
It's better and morecaccurate than Garmin. You can connect to strava, using an app, think its called health Sync. It's almost as accurate as the polar chest strap. Had the garmin Fenix 7 and the gts pro is more accurate. Next to apple It's the best fitness watch on the market
Crap I can link my Huawei gt3 oro tk Strava no problems. I use Health sync. Works a treat. Have had the Garmin Fenix 7, and my Huawei is better, better HR accuracy and better step counting, GPS is just as good. It's also a better quality watch then Garmin
People that buy this watch aren't interested in apps & are more fitness focused as well as wanting a longer lasting battery. Watches with apps aren't necessary for a lot of people as your phone has all the apps you should need. Apple and Samsung Watches have lots of apps and a poor battery life and aren't fitness focused like the GT3.
2 weeks battery life is PHENOMENAL performance for watch. Why the hell aren't Samsung or Apple offering anywhere NEAR this level of battery life? They aren't even as accurate as this watch. It's not like this is a 'bare bones' watch either!
Reviews always overlook the start/stop functionality. If you are a serious runner you want a physical button press to start and to stop the activity/ stopwatch. Not a touch screen functionality. Imagine running a 1k or 1 mile time trial and fiddling with the touch. Unless theres a button for it it is NOT a runner's watch.
I think that Huawei, at least the one I used, has big deviations, and of course there is no connection with Strava ... the class is for recreational users, who are not demanding.
I've just got this watch and can not find Auto pause setting for Walking?? It's got for cycling and running but l just can't find it!! Anyone help me out here,or am l being dumb. Cheers
For a watch or a mobile phone plastic is not a cheap choice, but the best choice, IMO. It all depends on the quality of the plastic. BTW. Better don't workout or run after the shot. Singapore MOH says 2 weeks no sports. There was a weight lifter here who died from cardiac issues after he lifted weights in excess of his body weight, a few days after vax.
Yea well it’s a quality plastic this one and very light it also aids the GPS signal I feel as the lock is faster than the Watch GT 3. Yes running after the Vax was not wise but I had to make this embargo. Will not do that again!!! Silly of me.
This watch is NOTHING for real runners! The GPS tracking is not as good as it have been described! I've tracked a 7km route and the watch cuts 250m on it out. I have compared it to the gt2 and measured the real distance with Google earth! THE GPS TRACKING IS ABSOLUTE NOTHING FOR SERIOUS RUNNERS!

@@Techtablets thanks. i do run (not a lot though). i guess ill go with gt3 pro as i find it more "usable" for all occassions just by changing the strap. the gt runner will always look like a sports watch, regardless of the strap.
6:54 Is VO2max recorded in the Trail run mode, or only in the Outdoor run mode?
Thanks.
The outdoor run mode
Data fields are customizable?
Elevation/Altitude available?
None that I know of from banks just the Chinese stuff. I'm not sure but the charging seems to take a longer time to get to 100% from flat.
@TechTablets How does this looks on a wrist 17cm circumference? looks too big or Okey?
A bit too big I think.
Does it have always on display?
How long is battery while using GPS?
Well you loose about 4-5% per hour of GPS use so about a days worth 24 hours having it on.
Hello boss, i think gt runner do not have skin temperature and that 25degree is a previous measure from gt3, great review btw, thanks :)
The only detail that is the most important for me is if there is always on display through running..this is the best detail in my garmin ...i run with several bands and this was the problem ..i raise my hand and sometimes it doesnt open the screen..so i return to Garmin always..is there always on screen when running or mtbiking?
Yes you can turn always on display but it kills the battery quickly of course
Nice video mate! Btw is gt2 still worth buying?
Can the watch sync with Strava?
Support for strava?
Hi. Are you sure you can reply to messages with text? I've read that is available only to GT3 Pro.
Does this smartphone has a dedicated football mode?
No I didn't see a football tracking mode. You would have to use a custom setting and track that.
is this compatible with strava tho?
Can sync strava on iphone?
Is it good when you running in rain??
Yes not a problem.
Which is more accurate in distance,.?
the Huawei GT runner or the GT 3 watch.?
Torn between the 2..
Tnx
Bit hard pretty much the same in my testing. Both very good the accuracy
Hi sir. I am curious about ur route..
Did u ran along the path ways or not?.
Cause as per your Huawei apps or the map,
Some points or parts of ur run were off the road...
Really I'm just curious how accurate this gt runner.
I owned a gt2 pro..
But its gps tracking was off the radar. It really sucks. 😁
I'm in the US. How do I buy this watch online can someone link me?
Import one in from say Aliexpress or Geekbuying?
same spec as gt3 ? u mention 5 gps on this
Does it have a mic to answer calls?
Both mic and speaker
Does NFC work ?
Yes NFC works it has it.
Thanks for the fastest response ever ! 👍🏽👍🏽
This watch is just for runners or I can use to biking?
I use it for mountain biking and it's great. It covers all sports
@@Techtablets 🥳
1km at 6:40/km pace with 170bpm HR? This can't be true. Please compare it with your Polar
Aru you proud off your Booster shot ?
Not at all. And no more for me as I get side affects from it. Are you proud of yours?
@@Techtablets No sir . Is your helth ok now ? Hope you are doing well. I have Ulcerative Colitis and ankylosing spondylitis so i didn't get vaccine at all it was my call. I got C 19 4 months ago ...high fever for 2 days and no complications.
@@Techtablets I got Gt2 pro today I know it is an old watch but price was Great. Thanks for responding to my earlier comment.
Great review as always 👏🏽
Thanks for watching. Was good to get out and really test this one but that 4km run killed me 🤣
@@Techtablets hope they make runner version every week 😅, so you keep working out 😂
So how this is works I mean can you send sms and all this without phone neardy???
You can see them but not reply. Only reply to certain on apps like WeChat and WhatsApp with the tiny on screen keyboard.
@@Techtablets ok so what is the best for me? If you know
I have 2 of these 1 for my wife as well. This does not have a skin temperature censer like you say and charge much quicker than 3 hours....
Great review! 👏👏👏 Thanks!
which app is that? HEALTH?
Health yes, Huawei Health.
I have this watch and everything is great, especially the battery life. However the calories burn calculation is way lower than other watches. If counting calories is what you are focusing on, you shouldn't buy this watch. I am just a hobby jogger so this watch is more than enough for me
Huawei way to count calories is a bit confusing, is it like it just count your active calories without your BMR?
69 hours recovery time for 4 km?! I want to run every day? Or is this based on your personal health?
It will adapt to your personal running stats, keep in mind he got a covid(?) booster the day before. Estimated recovery time will probably be 1-2 days after 4km runs for a beginner
This is esim supported?
Not this model no
Can you run with it without a phone?
Yes!
the inability to export to Strava (and other sports sites and gpx files) makes this watch useless for a slightly more advanced runner.
There are already guides online to exporting the data with a huawei sync app that will export to strava and a few other useful apps.
Thank you for saving my time and money :)
Crap I can link my Huawei gt3 oro tk Strava no problems. I use Health sync. Works a treat. Have had the Garmin Fenix 7, and my Huawei is better, better HR accuracy and better step counting, GPS is just as good. It's also a better quality watch then Garmin
The barometer shows the sea level pressure or only the station level pressure? I want sea level like Garmin, Suunto...
Good review as always. Is there support for Strava finally? If not how they can name it runner edition without supporting biggest sport community...
There is now apparently and also a way to sync it with it
@@Techtablets there is some kind of workaround with health sync app but not working 100% 😢
@@Techtablets exporting is available on Huawei Health but without sensors data (hr, cadence). It's normal?
Need this in the us. Seems just as good as the new epix
Cool review 🫡
Thanks!
Its have custom interval: 2min/1min rest(repeat 10x)
The lack of apps make this watch the worst option for the its price range
People that buy this watch aren't interested in apps & are more fitness focused as well as wanting a longer lasting battery. Watches with apps aren't necessary for a lot of people as your phone has all the apps you should need. Apple and Samsung Watches have lots of apps and a poor battery life and aren't fitness focused like the GT3.
i love my gt runner
Good to hear that!
新加坡断货了 买不到呀
2 weeks battery life is PHENOMENAL performance for watch. Why the hell aren't Samsung or Apple offering anywhere NEAR this level of battery life? They aren't even as accurate as this watch. It's not like this is a 'bare bones' watch either!
It’s more like 10 days but still so so good!
ecg?
Well it has 24/7 heart monitoring
@@Techtablets I guess you could detect tachycardias, but atrial fibrillation would be best
GT Runner or GT3, which one would you choose? ;)
Booster shot, why?
That was when we had to get them to travel 😭🤦♂️ wouldn't get it now!
@@Techtablets ah hope you're safe, I understand.
i still have and use the Huawei Gt watch... battery goes 1 week inspite is from 2018
Yes the battery life is fantastic my watch GT 2 and 3 last 10 days at least for me.
@@Techtablets my mate 20 pro is still a beast.. 2 days with light use... huawei are the best
Can it sync with strava anyone?
Yes, Strava supports these watches now. And there is a way to sync it.
@@Techtablets thank you so much for reply
@@Techtablets but heart rate and cadence is not exportable, right? I checked that and TCX doesn't contains this data. Useless...
@@Techtablets Please consider doing an update after a month or so. I have a Huawei Watch Fit, very light and for the price cool. May "upgrade".
Best running watch and its not Garmin ?!?!?! TechTablets-dude ur bringing doom upon urslf ^
