Maxxforce: the best advertisment for the Cummins ISX.
its amazing how these companies try and pawn these off and great engines. They are temperamental at best more like junk if you ask me.
Engine has to be one of the best ever made. Think of this, that engine ran. With all the nasty crap being force fed into it. If it had been done right. Thinking this engine, may have been at the top. But sad a company would push the Emissions crap out . Knowing it would fail.
This engine would have been as well off. Sucking air in without filters. No different then what Navistar was making it run on.
Where is the rest of it?! How can you leave me on the edge of that refreshingly technical appraisal with such an incomplete overview?! I never would expect a marketing guy to sound so intelligent and knowledgeable. Please see this through!

What a shame for American engineering
A twin turbo setup does not have to have both turbos the same size to be consider twin turbo, though that is one method and it's call a parallel setup there's also a staged and sequential turbo setups.. in the case of the maxxforce it's a sequential twin turbo setup that also has the ability to work in tandem the small turbo help the engine acelerate while the larger turbo is for cruising speed, the smaller turbo also helps the larger turbo in the case of the maxxforce pulling loads up hill.
Mine sometimes drives like it has no turbos, and a sock stuck in it , other times it pulls like like a train. Has a mind of its own

the new N13 is ok but we are sticking isx and isb in the majority of our new 2016 models
They'll be sticking the Cummins ISL in soon to replace the N9/N10 which is unfortunate
These engines are awesome. Poor maintenance is the downfall.
Navistar did hit rock bottom with this engine however 9 years later there is a 180 degree turnaround. The new A26 engine is BEST IN CLASS! Research for yourself and see what the renewed Navistar is all about.

Okay It's a few years that the MaxxFoce came to the market and we all know that it is a POS engine but now we all have all of those trucks at the lots rotting away I have two of them those anybody know of a company making engine swap conversions for the commercial industry not just for the 6.0 Fords. Any information will be gladly appreciated.
Junk we just bought a new Western Star 4700 Series SF with a DD15... No thanks International.. We have a truck with a Maxforce10 in it and it sucks big time.....
Twin turbos? That's usually referred when an angine has two of the same turbos. In this case, it is not.
the engine in this video is 07 emmisions, the egr system doesn't fail nowhere nearly as much as the 2010 emmisions big bore. but god the 1st gens are so much harder to work on.

Strange ain't it the Iveco Cursors they copied are a better motor than IH's Maxforce. I run a Cursor 8 and still trying to break it. And it still out pulls the MWM 370 on a climb

Caterpillar and Navistar have a contract. The bigbore engines, are "refined".
The International/Cat MaxxForce is the best example of how ruin a good engine design like the Man D2676 into a piece of shit. To big SCR system, bad alloys, bad software, and bad fittings.
And don't say me that shit that euro engines doesn't work in the US cause the Detroit dd16 is just a merc OM473
It comes as a surprise to me, because the D 2876 normally runs perfectly well even in the UK or NZ.
By the way, isn't the OM 473 actually developed by Detroit as DD15? Yes, under
the patronage of Daimler.
MAN engines are mainly garbage all except for the 10.5L D20 commonrail engine. There are very few decent MAN engines around. The straight-six MAN powerplants like the powerplant for the 14.280 chassis are among the worst in the range. If MAN engines don't blow a piston they are always underpowered and overheat easily. If you decide to buy MAN just make sure it's got more then six cylinders or if you do opt for a six cylinder make sure it's the 10.5L D20 or not at all.

Why not just fit the better european diesel engines as they are far more advanced than this flintstone diesel engine.
i hate to say this to international but your engines suck, you should stick with just putting a cummins in it. your engines break so often i think that the companies that bought them have less product moved because of it. dont have barely any problems out of the volvos

They do lots of breakdown. Worst engine in history. They used to make good trucks, now they have the crap prostart and its replacement lt that looks just like the prostar. This company teputation is so low they have stopped putting those crap of engines in their own trucks. Still their trucks are cheap crap with a great cummins engine. You still have to deal with the low structure part quality. Just not a good truck.
If they started building carbon copies of the 1979 S series again I wonder how many they could sell?,with the 1979 to 1988 Hood and not that ugly sloped thing started in 1989
