  • (KUTV) - Dr. Stephen Minton knows the fourth floor at Utah Valley Hospital very well.
He's been working there since 1979.
That's where the newborn intensive care unit is located, also called the NICU.
In his time, Dr. Minton, a neonatologist, has seen approximately 34,000 babies.
"I lost babies every day," he said. "Today, when we lose a baby, it's a fairly rare event."
He's seen a lot of changes for the good, especially in saving babies born early.
"We've changed survival significantly," Minton said.
