Oh my gosh I didn't realize James Islington's new book was out already!!!! I loved his debut trilogy (which I think you would also love) and can't wait to read The Will of the Many!
The Black Jewels trilogy holds a special place in my heart. The series on a whole has some of my favourite characters ever written, and kickstarted my love of reading and writing. I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Yellowface is on my TBR as well. My TBR is soooo big but with me taking grad classes this summer my reading time has been so limited! I hate it! It will all be worth it when I graduate in December though.
Yellowface was amazing! We follow June, though, not Athena. Everything you said was correct but you have the characters backward. Athena passes away early in the book, and June who ends up making some pretty interesting choices along the way.
Book of the new sun by Gene Wolfe is my favourite book series! So excited you will be reading it. Only advice I would say is that it’s normal to be very confused as to what’s going on all the time but the further you get into the series the more puzzle pieces fall into place making it also my favourite series to reread.
I read The Will of The Many and really enjoyed it! I loved the magic system and the way the book ends, man oh man do I have questions! I wish book two release date was already out
Most of my recent buys are due to finally reading Leviathan Wakes and deciding I needed the rest of the series so I can binge it. I also won a couple of ARCs in a giveaway Dragonfall, by L.R. Lam and Shigidi and the Brass Head of Obalufon, by Wole Talabi. Don't know a lot about the second one, but it seems to involve a Nigerian Nightmare god, a succubus, and a heist from the British Museum, so I'm definitely interested.
The spear cuts though the water love under water stories and the cover is so gorgeous and I agree with you I am pumped to read it too 🩵📙📚📚🌊🌊⛱️🌞🌞⛱️📖💛💛📖⛱️🌞🌞📖📚📚📙🌊🌊🏝️🏝️🏝️🌊📙📚📚🌞🌞🌞⛱️📖💛💛💛💛⛱️🌞🌞📙📙🌊🏝️🏝️🏝️🏝️🩵📙📚📚📙
A House With Good Bones is a great suburban horror to read in summer. It has T Kingfishers signature humor but is also creepy, it was a delight 😊 The Will The Many sounds amazing
Ah! You will love Yellowface. It’s definitely one you’ll want to talk to a friend about! I also have The Will of The Many on my TBR thanks to Petrik! ✨
James Islington's other trilogy is actually what got me into hight fantasy a few years ago so I'm super excited for this new one and can't wait till it's out in paperback
@@iLastStar I just think they look better and that they're easier to read. Also, when I have a hardcover I'm more cautious of damaging it but with paperbacks I feel like they can be thrown in a bag and it's fine. I do really appreciate a pristine hardcover though, but when I get one it has to be an at-home book only. What about you?
I am so excited you got The Black Jewels!!! It was my absolute favorite series when I was younger. I can’t wait to see what you think 😃. I would check trigger warnings first though, fyi
I’ve got Witch King (audio) and Frugal Wizard on my tbr as well. Vaaaastly different vibes there but I’m hoping I enjoy both. I only enjoyed Tress, wasn’t head over heels for it, so I’m crossing my fingers his second Kickstarter book hits higher for me!
I finished Witch King last night and Yellowface today, and I loved the first and kinda hated the second 🥲 Witch King was super dense and much like with some of the Murderbot books, I feel like I understood at best like 75% of the concepts and terminology. But I still loved it, it was action-packed and the characters were wonderful! So the contrast was pretty stark when I picked up Yellowface, which was SO blunt and couldn't stop hammering home its message on every damn page, and had the most cartoonishly one-dimensional characters in history. Of course they're in completely different genres and Yellowface is trying to be satirical, but honestly I don't think it did a great job conveying what it was trying to convey. But I hope you have a better time with it! 😅 I've also had The Spear Cuts Through Water from the library for months and months, but it's so intimidating to me that I can't seem to get started. Maybe that'll be my next pick now!
Love Octavia Butler and her books and all so unique and creepy and beautiful and and one of my favorite authors 🌊🌞🌞📚📙📙🌊🌊📚⛱️⛱️🩵💛📖📖🏝️📙🌊📚🌞🌞🌞⛱️⛱️🩵📖📖📖📖📖🌞📚📙🏝️🏝️🏝️📙📚🌞🌞⛱️🩵💛💛📙🏝️
It's interesting that R F Kuang's name is Rebecca F Kuang on the UK version of Yellowface, I wonder why they did that. But the book itself is amazing, I read it in a morning, really grips you and is very readable but so, so smart.
Age Empire such a gorgeous cover and love this series and can’t wait to read their book in July 🩵🌊📚📚🌊📙📙📙🩵🌞🌞🌞📖💛💛💛💛⛱️📚📚📚🌊📙🏝️🏝️🩵🌊📚📚🌊🩵📙🏝️📙🩵📚🌞🌞⛱️📖📖💛📖⛱️🌞📚📚📚🌊🩵🩵📙📙🏝️📙

Hello....I love your book haul videos. I have gotten so many wonderful recommendations from them. I can't help but love on your book shelf in the background. *blush* Can you tell me what the series is you have that are the big chunky books with the cream covers? I would appreciate it. Thanks!!!
I read The Name of the Wind because of you five years ago and still can't get over the trauma that is Patrick Rothfuss, so I will be buying The Will of the Many on that premise alone.
I LOVE the Black Jewels soooo good but be warned that the beginning is intense and a dark one. One of the darkest openings but gets a bit better as the story goes on.
have you heard of red rising ? it's a scifi/fantasy series by pierce brown written quite a while ago - "hunger games in space" vibes i've watched you for a few years and feel like it would be right up your alley, if you haven't read it yet
Hello my name is Christina and I'm new to your chancel the books I'm reading are gardenia by Kelsey Sutton the Host by Stephanie Meyer and The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Hann .
1st, i love your videos. 2nd, just finished the first of the black jewels trilogy and i havent decided yet what i think of it. Its very wierd and i still dont really know whats it about even though i finished the first book
Love the vibes of this video. Love the energy! I hated Trust. Wasn't for me. It's divided into four sections. Non of it really made sense until you reach the third section, and by then you've already committed yourself to a large portion of the book that just didn't make sense. What was the mystery? Was it really solved? I don't know. Huge disappointment.
I unfortunately felt that Yellowface got a little to unserious and campy by the end. I would personally rather just read a non fiction about the issues in the publishing world because the book ended up feeling silly to me.
I am so close to DNFing Yellowface. It’s just dragging so much and the main character June is just annoying. I know it’s satire but I just can’t find anything redeemable about this book. I’m halfway so really trying to convince myself to finish it
Watching your videos has really inspired me to get back into reading after years of not having read a single book ❤
Oh my gosh I didn't realize James Islington's new book was out already!!!! I loved his debut trilogy (which I think you would also love) and can't wait to read The Will of the Many!
All these books sound fantastic! My reading list always gets longer after your videos, but I am not a fast reader like you, so it keeps growing.
The Black Jewels trilogy holds a special place in my heart. The series on a whole has some of my favourite characters ever written, and kickstarted my love of reading and writing. I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
The Black Jewel Trilogy and the side books…. The Shadow Queen and Shalador’s Lady are my favorite of all time! I am so happy you finally have it! ❤❤
Yellowface is on my TBR as well. My TBR is soooo big but with me taking grad classes this summer my reading time has been so limited! I hate it! It will all be worth it when I graduate in December though.
Yes!!! Black Jewels 🖤 Sarah Janet could never 😏
Yellowface was amazing! We follow June, though, not Athena. Everything you said was correct but you have the characters backward. Athena passes away early in the book, and June who ends up making some pretty interesting choices along the way.

OMG FINALLY SPEAR CUTS THROGUOH WATER. ONE OF THE BEST EPIC FANTASIES THAT CAME OUT RECENTLY
I read The Will of The Many and really enjoyed it! I loved the magic system and the way the book ends, man oh man do I have questions! I wish book two release date was already out
I am so excited that you're getting to Gene Wolfe! Book of the new Sun is amazing.
I loved A House With Good Bones! The main character is great and wait til you meet the one winged vulture!!
Most of my recent buys are due to finally reading Leviathan Wakes and deciding I needed the rest of the series so I can binge it.

They all look good, but The Will of Many caught my attention right away 😍

I am reading The Will of the Many now. Halfway through and I am loving it!

Fab haul! Witch King sounds fantastic. I really need to try out Anne Bishop and Michael J Sullivan. Love Adrian Tchaikovsky's writing.
James Islington's other trilogy is actually what got me into hight fantasy a few years ago so I'm super excited for this new one and can't wait till it's out in paperback
why do you prefer paperback over hardcover? generally curious.

The books all sound amazing! I put Anne Bishop on the tbr. Hope you have a good Father's day❤
I met Adrian Tchaikovsky at a convention in Leicester years ago!
That edition of City of Last Chances is to die for😍

This book haul was so interesting... a lot of them were not on my radar (till now)
I read The Name of the Wind because of you five years ago and still can't get over the trauma that is Patrick Rothfuss, so I will be buying The Will of the Many on that premise alone.
I picked up The Will Of The Many yesterday - so far so good. I will say though, the font is so much smaller than what I'm used to
I would love to see a vlog for The Will of the Many
I LOVE the Black Jewels soooo good but be warned that the beginning is intense and a dark one. One of the darkest openings but gets a bit better as the story goes on.

i've watched you for a few years and feel like it would be right up your alley, if you haven't read it yet
I love the Black Jewels trilogy, and some of the later books, but it does go DARK at times with the content.

❤️📚
Kuang is making me believe she has a chip on her shoulder.

Love your videos and your so sweet ❤
Im so sad when this videos end...👍🤌🫰👏👌🫶
I unfortunately felt that Yellowface got a little to unserious and campy by the end. I would personally rather just read a non fiction about the issues in the publishing world because the book ended up feeling silly to me.
I am so close to DNFing Yellowface. It’s just dragging so much and the main character June is just annoying. I know it’s satire but I just can’t find anything redeemable about this book. I’m halfway so really trying to convince myself to finish it
