The dead cat that fits on that microphone fell off while riding on the scooter here in Bali🤣 Unfortunately it’s literally impossible to find a replacement. Be aware of that bro😊
Great video as usual! Question re the ECM-B1M - I have a low 'clicking' sound when the camera is in AF continuous - have you come across this? It's really bugging me and I don't know why its there or how to eliminate it. Tried everything I can think of!
@@PeterLindgren1 I have tried with the 14mm, 24-70mm, and 12-24mm all GM lenses. I tried with all switch combinations (up being my standard) but even with NC there is still a bit of noise picked up, but I don't hear that in yours or other creators! Thanks for the reply
I love this stuff Peter (the way you go about planning ideas for things like thumbnails etc). I’m only opening up my creative brain now, and tend to be a very logical, process and flow thinker. So being ‘randomly creative’ doesn’t ever happen, and I feel sometimes as if my mind is scripted…if that makes sense. So I enjoy seeing other people’s creative process so I can learn to ‘loosen up’ and not be so prescriptive in my creativity.
ECM-B1M is the best on-camera mic ever! I got comments asking why my audio sounds so good and I didn't do anything in post aside from level adjustments. Even if a person is a few meters away it's still super crisp.
@@PatrickKreftTravelAdventure Foto Erhardt hatte letzte Woche noch welche;) Hab zwei davon und finde sie definitiv die besten, im Vergleich zu den üblichen Verdächtigen NTG und Pro+ von Rode.
Love the Casey vibe, a lot of creators just ditched the b-roll ( which is hard work for the vlogs ) and just talk, so nice to see you putting in the hard yards to add that spice!
I was between the Rode VideoMic NTC and the Deity D3 Pro, and decided to go with the Deity. Both great mics though, improved the sound quality of my videos so much!
Have been using the Sony mic for some time and it’s brilliant. A small tip, add a thin layer of foam underneath the dead cat to prevent wind noise. Worth every penny 👌
I found the video!! I was trying to find the video where you showed those metal pegboard’s. I’ve been wanting to show my uncle what they look like and some of the accessories that come with them.
Hey Peter! Can you tell me if it is possible to use an external microphone (for a lav mic i.e.) while having the b1m attached to the camera? So is it possible to have two mics simultaneously recording sound into the camera or not? 😅👍
Thanks Peter! I know this is an older video but how has your view changed on the ECM-B1M mic? What kind of processing is required to get that nice deep clean sound you have? I have watched a few other videos claiming how amazing the sound quality is, but I just don't hear it. It seems rather "cheap & tinny" raw out of the mic compared to ANY of my Rode mics. I was thinking of grabbing the ECM-M1 due to the different patterns available, but I REALLY like the sound right out of my Rode mics and only having to adjust the level. It's a shame they are so massive! Thanks again!
Haha I also mounted Elfa shelves in today's vid! With... less success than the trading part of it 😂Realize now who I should have asked for advice. Man you are fast!!! 😆
Would it be worth sharing a video on how you treat your audio and teach people how to set levels. Just for those who've never used mics like these and run into noise issues etc..
Peter I bet if you tried to sell some apparel now it’d work out a bit better for you. My tip, don’t order until you have orders and just fulfill those orders when they come. I’d buy one of those hoodies no doubt!
Brother, Updating your studio always makes good content, i just keep thinking how much do you spend, cuase you are trying to save for your house! on the other hand I just sold some camera gear and a junker car cause i am still trying to get some equipment. Man, I remember why watching youtubers is so dangerous; you make me want to get new gear all the time 😂 Keep up the vlogs, Peter! Much love all the way from Canada :)
I’ll buy a sweatshirt. Also the thumbnail part was awesome, i never know how to do my own for good impact yet not clickbaiting. In fact any more tips and workflows for smaller channels like mine would be very interesting! Cheers o/
@@PeterLindgren1 Saw it in the video! Thanks! It would be insane if you made an entire vlog on the zv1. Also, I think two channels are better than one man. The vlogs were super fun.
Recently bought the Rode video NTG. Pretty good, although I have to keep it quite close to my mouth. You seem to get great sound with it despite being quite a bit far from you. How far is it exactly when on your camera? Also, my room probably needs treatment.
Hey Peter, I know you actually respond to comments (much appreciated eh!) and I'm wondering what you recommend for my mic situation. I bought a Sony RX 100 Vi without realizing it has no audio jack. wondering if you think a usb c or micro hdmi to 3.5 mm audio jack adaptor would work? I really don't want to use a Zoom recorder or post sync audio. other option is to try and sell my camera for cost and upgrade to the Vii which does have mic input. let me know what you think! cheers from Canada, it's cold here now eeesh! 💚✌️
I bought the Shure V83F few years ago and barely use it. it picks up anything for miles behind the subject. Like traffic etc. No idea why how these video mics are popular. Maybe I use them wrong. I use lavs only now.
I always thought your audio sounded amazing when using an on camera mic in your studio. What are your switch settings on the back? Noticed when you showed it, it looked like auto levels vs manual levels and possibly using the NC filter.
I’ve been wanting to get the B1M but it’s been sold out everywhere for months. It almost makes me think Sony has discontinued it or is replacing it with a new model. Sure there’s also the possibility like a lot of other things that the pandemic has just hurt the supply chain.
About the Sony microphone, how far can it works? I mean how far can hear a sound/voice? I'm looking for a directional microphone for wildlife, so I need to hear more far than some meters. Can you suggest me something? Thanks, and thanks for your videos.
Just wanna ask Peter, So seeing you put the bags underneath the roll down backdrop, does that not mean as you work on a project using the backdrop wouldn't it disturb the flatness of the paper or there is an ability you created to move that part a little forward?🤔🤷♀️. Seems interesting to observe and love that you are a handyman and do everything yourself thats' so cool!
Hi Pete, I own botn the Rode Mic Video Plus and the NTG. I think their both awesome, but for my channel I use the Rode Wireless Go for the simple reason that my house is very much reverb heaven. In post I normally have to edit a lot on the voice audio. Do you edit yours extensively or is it straight out of camera?
Reviews are always good and informative for those looking for either the best gear or affordable gear based on budget. My situation is an anomaly because I have a Nikon D3400 camera without a 3.5mm jack for external mic. My solution was to purchase a Tascam DR 05-X audio recorder and a cold shoe shock mount yo put on the camera. Still no input but I can place the audio in post. I also use the audio recorder on a manfrotto pixi mini tripod if I want to use it for a desktop microphone when using my laptop
always love seeing you building your studio changing stuff etc. & getting ideas for your own setup - keep up the great work man

Your lighting arsenal is insane 🤯
The Sony ECM B1M Does not work on ALL sony cameras, make sure to check the compatability!
yes, I think it requires zv1 or later
It actually does work on A7iii, just switch to analog!

It does it with both the ZV-E1 and A7sIII and 3 different GM lenses
