I think that could have been the plan when he was put as the leader of the nation but when Rock came in, the management realizes that he can actually surpass the expectation given to him and the money is on him, so they decided to steer course and pass him the spotlight.

@@s4xtt even so, Rock didn’t come in until later on so yes they could have but.. about this time Simmons was red hot in matches with guys like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart/The Hart Foundation, The Undertaker etc.. that’s some pretty big names right there and he could have easily had a reign while Rocky was still in midcard on his way up perhaps

Not to mention that Ron irl is a scary tough man, especially during the match against Ahmed Johnson, where Ahmed was reckless in the ring, resulted injuring Ron. When Ron gets his match against Ahmed again later on, Ron legit beat Ahmed up.

This guy is literally built different, they say man was made from dirt, But Ron Simmons must've been made of marble chiseled with a hammer made of thunder and lightning just... god

If Arn Anderson was telling the truth, the guy supposedly only went to the gym four times a month and looked like that.

Ron was a character, athlete, powerhouse, and all around good guy.
What he did with his career and black prescence in the WWE was top notch.

I tell you what is great about Ron. Im sure there were a few old school "good old boys" that didn't like seeing a black man rising up to NWA champ, but he doesn't shit talk like it was rampant.
He speaks on every single person from an honest perspective.
He doesn't play that woke shit.
    Cuz he's a real man.
    A dying breed unfortunately.

I’m starting to feel like if any wrestler who pursued football before wrestling never got injured they wouldn’t be in the wrestling business and would’ve been known as pro football players

    • @vernonhampton5863

You know what's funny, football players were not always millionaires. That's still true today as a matter of fact. A lot of them in the 60s and 70s supplemented their income on the off season (which was most of the year) with professional wrestling. Not everyone was that successful or well known, but you look at a lot of names in the business, you will find that a lot of them wore pads at one time. So there has always been a link between the two sports.

Yeah, it's something Jim Ross has pointed out over the past few years. There's fewer football players making the transition, one of the main reasons wrestlers seem to be so much smaller today compared to 20 years ago.

Well for most of the history of football there was no money in it. Ernie Ladd gave up pro football because their was more money in wrestling. Also even now most football players are not as wealthy as you’d imagine.
