Glenn Gould a grandmaster of the piano. Many know him just for his Bach mastery but his interpretation of Beethove's sonatas is unique. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed!!😄. Glenn Gould could master any piece weather it was composed by Bach, Mozart, Chopin etc. His playing was purely immortal which is what made him grandmaster of the Piano!!
Wonderful more Glenn!!! A delight to listen to. And Banquo! My boys and I want a dog. Love how Glenn’s humour jumps out in the 2nd movement and 3rd movements. 💗💗🎵🎵💗💗
Isn't it!! Gould's Beethoven Sonata are truly a delight to listen to! Perhaps it's Banquo playing as well lol 😂. I'm truly glad you enjoyed, take care my friend! Thomas 😄💗🎶🎵🎶💗😄
Grandmaster of the piano: absolutely. Profound interpreter of the great composers: not by a country mile. His eccentric and wayward approach to tempo, timbre, texture and articulation prevent his being taken seriously as an interpreter. His brittle touch and shallow tone quality render many of his renditions, but particularly his Brahms, all but unlistenable. Gould served his own ego rather than the composer.
It depends on how you define "interpretation." Gould often said that most of the concert repertoire was so beaten to death that it was a challenge to come up with an original interpretation. His interpretations were definitely different. Towards the end of his life, he took it to the extreme, and some of his later recordings bordered on the bizarre.

Pure unadulterated Gould. That's how he liked it. Composing by proxy😅
He changed the tempo from bpm=85 to bpm=82 during the first movement (compare the beginning with the reprise) - that is strange
Es ist Gould... Was für eine verwegene Interpretation des 2. Satzes, wird vielen nicht behagen.
