I absolutely LOVED Sharon and Dennis!! The best couple in the soap's history They were 100% made for each other & their chemistry was off the scale! They only had to look at each other & there would be sparks flying. This scene was brilliant, "tap tap SLAP" "I tidied up you silly cow" "I wouldn't be seen dead in a meringue" "Been there done that...yeah to Grunt...Grant....whatever" LOL The proposal was totally fitting for them "I fancy my missus" awwwww!! Classic Shannis :-) I miss them!
I'm in the US...there are very few stations that carry Eastenders (repeats). I adore Sharon and Dennis....Thank you for posting!! Dennis' propsal was awesome...he fancy's his Mrs....love it! :o)
Shannis is 100,000 times better than Sharon/Grant, Sharon/Phil and Sharon/Keanu! She’s never been as happy with any other man, what’s more regretful was that 2006 was supposed to be a great year for the couple! Den’s body was supposed to have been dug up on the shows 21st anniversary in 2006, and a big trial involving Chrissy, Zoe and Samantha was to take up the first half of the year, Sharon and Dennis would have stayed longer too, and the Watts vs Mitchell feud was supposed to be the main storyline with the Slaters gunning for both families due to Zoe along with Dens Murder trial, Dennis would not have been killed off, he and Sharon and their baby were supposed to leave in the Summer after the trial, no Brannings, no Get Johnny Week, 2006 would have been epic!!
I agree with your comment except the Branning part, as they proved to later become one of the most iconic EastEnders families with the Stax affair, Tanya burying Max alive and Bradley and Abi's deaths.
IIRC, the storyline of the father of the family being killed and his death hidden was meant to be a Ferrera family storyline originally but that never happened. So, it went to who it did but also I think the producer at the time was not very popular with the cast (or so I've heard and read) and So a lot of re-writes were done. Letitia Dean and Nigel Harman both quit at Christmas 2005 because they felt the storyline of Sharon and Dennis romance had run its course and there was nothing left for the character of Dennis to do. If he was just in the show for the sake of it then people would get bored

I would have loved that as the storyline to send Dennis and Sharon off instead of the tragedy we ended up with.
