• Today we are going to visit #SageVashisht temple ji,
• Located just 3 km away from Manali bus stand, Himachal
• Parking area near temple is somewhat limited
• We recommend you parking your vehicle 1 km below
• Though it’s easy to reach the temple on two-wheeler
• Auto-rickshaws are also available for the tourists
• Let’s come to pay obeisance at Sage Vashisht temple
• Out of the supreme seven sages
• Sage Vashisht ji was one of them
• It was Vashisht ji who told needed mantras
• To Bhagirathi ji to bring down river Ganga on Earth
• As per mentioned in Adhyatam Ramayana,
• Lord Brahma assigned two tasks to Sage Vashisht ji
• First task was to carry out Vedic work on Earth
• Second was to be ‘Purohit’ (priest) of Raghuvanshi clan
• Vashisht ji refused to be ‘Purohit’ of Raghuvanshi clan
• When Lord Brahma ji revealed about the birth
• Of Lord Narayana in the same clan in future
• Vashisht ji merrily accepted to be Purohit as well
• Owner of Kamdhenu Cow, Vashisht ji was the one
• Who taught Lord Ram through Vashisht Samhita
• The principles of carrying morally righteous character
• The history of this place belongs to ‘Treta Yug’
• We are at Vashisht village
• Behind me lies the Vashisht temple
• Sage Vashisht was guru of both Lord Rama & Laxman
• Let’s first know about history of Vashisht village
• Vashisht ji did his tapaspya at this place
• That’s why even today villagers here
• Still consider him their primary deity
• Villagers seek blessings of Vashisht ji
• Before undertaking any important task
• They also seek solutions to their problems here
• Vashisht ji was the ‘manas’ son of Lord Brahma ji
• This was the first place where Vashisht ji
• Came to perform his prayers and tapasya here
• Vashisht ji then became Guru of #LordRama in #TretaYuga
• This temple is around 1800 years old while
• The idol of Sage Vashisht ji is around 5000 years old
• The history of this temple is mainly associated
• With the Sage Vashisht ji
• Whose idol is always covered in white clothes
• This 5000 years old Vashisht ji statue shows him
• Holding a pot in one hand and jaap mala in other hand
• ‘Jal Kund’ is another attraction of this temple
• Devotees take a holy dip in this pond
• That is believed to have healing properties
• When Lord Rama Ji organized Ashvamedha Yagya
• Sage Vashisht ji was doing tapasya at this place
• Acting upon advice of other sages, Lord Rama
• Gave orders to Laxman to search Sage Vashisht ji
• When Laxman ji reached at this place
• He shot an arrow to create hot pond here
• And take holy dip to relieve his tiredness
• Feeling happy to see Laxman, Sage Vashisht ji
• Blessed this pond to have healing properties
• Every year, on eve of Baisakh, Vashisht fair is held
• The main festival is held in April month, Baisakh
• Jagran is held, and the procession of Sage Vashisht
• Is held around the village in his palanquin
• The sculptural excellence of this temple is marvellous
• Now we are going to pay obeisance at
• Ancient Ram temple adjacent to this temple
• Ram temple is very famous among devotees
• Mainly for two reasons regarding architecture
• First, stone architecture using Nagara style
• That constitutes the Sanctum Sanctorum of this temple
• Second is architecture related to ‘Mandap Griha’
• Made of wooden structure in Pahadi style
• This temple offers spectacular scenic view to visitors
• The sight of Pir Panjal range is too hypnotic for the visitors
• Adjacent to Ram temple lies ancient Shiva temple also
• The market near Vashisht temple is quite good
• Many local and foreign tourists visit it in large numbers
• There is a great variety of food options as well
