There's 2 types of Chinese egg tarts. The first one was derived from British bakers, and uses a shortbread crust. The 2nd version (Po- tat) came later from Lord Stow, who created his own version of Portuguese Pastel de Nata, that uses a puff pastry shell. So the original first egg tart was British (but different crust), not Portuguese (in puff pastry). Also Chinese custard is different from Portuguese custard (egg mix includes flour). Just FYI.
I guess they expect customers to eat the toenails on the fried chicken feet if they intentionally left them intact...in fairness, the keratin is probably more edible after being fried.
