  • Now that we finally have our mainsail installed it was time to install the sail cover. We opted for the Mack Sails Mack Pack and lazy jacks. The Mack Sails website has a few really good installation videos and we suggest you watch those if you're installing your own Mack Pack. We've used it a few times now and are very please with how the Mack Pack, lazy jacks, and Strong Track perform together. It has enormously simplified dealing with the mainsail.

Hell you got a third reef with out taking it out of the bag.

    That turned out really well.

Have you flown that staysail yet? If so, how well did it trim on different points of sail?
Asking because I want to lose my staysail boom as well but can't imagine being able to trim without it.

Hey Oliver, sorry I didn't see this comment sooner but I replied on the TOG Site. Long story short: yes, the last couple times we've gone out for over-nighters we've found 20-plus knots winds and have sailed under double reefed main and staysail only. The staysail self-tacks ok, but the shape isn't perfect. The boat still sails up wind surprisingly well, and given my choice I would prefer a loose-footed staysail over a club-foot, I'm messing with a new idea for staysail sheeting and I'll keep you posted.

I know this video is nearly a year old but I never could catch what the goo was you used when taping your mast to keep the shrapnel out. Do you mind posting what it is?

      The goo was Tef-Gel

Does the strong tack come with the stack pack? Is it necessary?

Hi Dee, the Strongtrack was seperately ordered along with the fully battened mainsail. The Mack Pack and lazy jacks we ordered separate through Mack Sails in Florida.

@@svrambleon Thanks from a fellow Tayana 37 owner. So is the strong track necessary or desirable? I have NZ spars on my 1985 T-37. loose footed 9oz main partial batten which is a bear to douse single handed without a working auto pilot.....probably should have ordered of fully batten main
