It seems like Taro like visitors. The close up at 6:33 look like he may have vision problems. Cataracts, possibly. I am glad he is where he is because his keepers seem to be taking excellent care of him - keeping his enclosure clean and providing him an excellent variety in his diet.
In one of the videos it said he likes one of his female keepers very much he gets jealous. Does she still work with him daily? He looks sad. I know they love to eat but I'm sure some kind of company all the time would be nice. I understand his age and money trying to find another companion for him wouldn't be easy but it's still kinda sad. I hope the keeper he is so fond of spends a lot of time with him. I'm sure that's the highlight of his days.

I think its a shame that in return for complying to the hand clap Tarou was laughed at as though it was a performance for those people. But I this magnificent beast seems capable of appreciating sounds of spoken compliments of encouragement and appreciation. In any case he deserves it I hope he gets that from time to time.

He had a female gorilla who had lived together for 20 years. But she has died. He is already above average life expectancy, and Japan has few gorillas, so it is difficult to find his partner. He is loved by Zookeepers and visitors. He lives happily by eating various foods every day. The gorilla's greatest pleasure is eating.
Taro is gorgeous and looks great for his age..but life alone for him must be sad ....maybe you should put him with Momotaro or Shabani’s family ...as an older buddy ☺️😊

An alone life is NOT a healthy life. I know he has you keepers who care for him immensely, but it's not the same. Tell me, if anyone was a man his age, would you rather live ten more years alone because you're healthy? Or just a few more years with some more of your own kind? But that's just my opinion. I know that's gotta be a tough situation for the zoo. I'm sure they want to do so much more for him, but are prevented from it by the same thing every zoo ultimately is... "money." I sure wish everyone would realize that we are capable of having enough self discipline to get rid of money, and collectively work to better ourselves and each other. Then, instead of paychecks being important, how we use our resources will become the most important thing, and we could finally start to truly progress as societies and evolve as human beings. Hey, it's an idea.
He gets good food. The keepers take very good care of him. Check out some other videos of Taro and I think you would agree that they feed him very well.
