It's All For You Demon Paul was pretty bad. When he makes that face doing laser eyes, I can actually feel his pain. However sweet it may have been. Best actor? Gene gave it his all.
Gene as he did most of his stunts. Although Gene's voice was modular, his fight scenes kicked butt! 😊 Also, Ace was great too. I heard (and read) that Peter's voice over was debated for years whether or not it was truly him speaking. He's got a thick Brooklyn accent. I later found out it was a character voice actor, Micheal Bell who voiced Peter's lines. I absolutely love this magazine and will definitely have to get a copy someday. 😊
I remember buying this magazine in '78. I thought it was amazing! As a 13 year old I thought the TV movie was amazing too! Even recorded the audio with my tape recorder. Then came the limited theatrical release and of course, I HAD to see it in the theater as well. Good times...Oh! And Paul was definitely the best actor (that's 13 year old me).
I remember buying this same magazine when it came out . The first page on left when you open it was my favorite photo of them in this magazine . Whish I still had this and the other magazines I had back then . On the night phantom came on tv my brother convinced me to go out to a party in the woods . I didn't want to go but he had a date set up for me and his self . A great night but I missed phantom and didn't get to see it on tv . When it came out on VHS I bought it and didn't have a VHS player yet . Months later I finally got a VHS player and finally got to see it . I loved it even though it was cheesy . Still have the VHS tape but no VHS player . No worries I have all of the KISSOLOGY's and watch the updated version of the second one . In a small way I resent not staying home and watching it when it came out . All my friends at school who didn't even like KISS watched it and was shocked I didn't knowing how much a fan I was . I would draw KISS all over my folders and any blank space I could . I have an old friend that decades later still has flip pictures of Gene I drew in jr. high where when you flip it Gene sticks his tongue in and out . I still have a few drawings and at least one folder from 78 where I drew KISS all the cover . It's been great fun being a KISS fan . Keep up the great work I love it . Also love in my head work too you both are great brings me a lot of joy watching them and being part of the panel for KISS album's and now the 80's album's .
That is an awesome memory of KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM night. So very cool. I can imagine the torment of that decision. Thank you very much for the kind words. Have a great week
Great video! So enjoyed watching this one !Definitely reminds me of being 10 yrs old ! You should have a little contest . Best impersonation of Paul , Ace ,Peter and Gene ...reciting lines from the movie . I gotta go watch Phantom again now !!
You're absolutely right. Paul is the worst in the movie, haha. Gene and Ace were the best. Gene took to the role; he was The Demon! Ace was just having fun and delivered the lines spot-on. I watch this movie multiple times a year. I totally love it. I definitely would love to add this magazine and that Good Times video Halloween promo poster to my collection. Maybe one day!
my best monotone voice....."Sam's still in the park" great video i want this book again. I'm currently watching one on E-bay. I totally agree with your theory and i head the same thing about staff not being allowed to speak of this movie in their presence. Gene was into this but you couldn't halfway understand him with that effect. Ace had the best lines and delivered them like a champ. so ACE gets my vote.
Haha!! oh man, I totally forgot that line....another classic! Yeah, as we talked about last week, Ace did have the best lines, and I always love that he sings "Rocket Ride", while standing in that rocket when Sam walks by....so cool. Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend.
I bought the magazine and still have it to this date, in excellent condition..I haven't read it in years so now that I've seen this video I'm going to locate it and have a look see..So many memories, now I have to get the movie on dvd at Amazon..
Haha! Awesome. Have fun! it's so much fun diving into this kind of stuff again and celebrating a little bit of the magic. Enjoy the DVD! Thanks for watching. Take care.
Love that movie so much. I remember Christmas time either '89 or '90. My Mom and Dad let me sleep in the living room and go to sleep watching Phantom. I have had the copy from Kissology for a long time and recently got a VHS copy of the US version. Can't wait to finish Summer off with a viewing. I haven't seen that version since I was a kid. Either Paul or the guy that played Sam was the worst. Sam had less screen time so I guess you have to give it to Paul lol. Black Starred Eye would be a great tribute band name.
Oh man....that would make a great band name. BOOM! Good thinking. Enjoy the VHS version! Such a great time capsule. And, I love the memory of falling asleep watching PHANTOM....that's awesome. Thanks for watching. Have a good weekend!
I noticed that the one shot you show of Ace in the magazine at 5:51 has a hot of Ace holding the mannequin head. There is "Fleegle" from the Banana Splits head underneath the table. The Phantom of the Park was created by Hanana Barbera.
Ah, I will have to go back and check that out. I have always loved, there is one shot in ATTACK OF THE PHANTOMS (I think when Devereaux is shewing Melissa away), you see all the heads really good. Also, always loved, once you see an Silver Ape in case. HaHa. That's pretty badass fun. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week.
Great upload,, that mag was a super addition,,it's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I believe your right bout Paul's acting.....have a fun weekend
If you watch Peter in OZ he's a great actor, Gene is as well, Ace did a film where he played a junkie he's not bad, Paul is a singer, never acted well but might have it in him if it was something he wanted to do
Hey Ric, I just discovered your channel today. I subcribed to you because of the awesome KISS stuff that you show. Also I like your dogs. Keep on making interesting and fun videos. Keep Rocking on!
Have you read the book: "Conversations with Phantoms: Exclusive Interviews About the 1978 TV Movie, Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park"? It's very interesting!
To put this in perspective. I'm sure Gene was very enthused about acting I'm not sure where Paul's headset was But it in Paul's book it was him that started acting lessons first Was it because of this movie experience? And Paul's insecurities
Wow I have never seen this book and should have bought it when I had chance for $2.50. I remember seeing this on the order form when I bought the solo albums back in 78 but never did. I couldn't agree more that Paul's acting was clearly the worst of the four but his inability to deliver a line definitely adds to the fun of watching the movie. My best actor award would go to Ace. Thanks for sharing the book.
I love this movie actually. I bought the Vhs tape (US version) from Walmart in the mid-90's for $5. I was quite disappointed by the Australian release that was put on the Kissology DVD because the film was edited so much due to censorship that some of the scenes are missing, dialog doesn't always match the storyline in that version. I wish Kissology would have put out the US release on DVD too. My favorite actors in this movie are Gene, Ace, and Peter. Paul was my least favorite as he delivered his lines with disinterest in the role (and the movie in general) it seemed to me. "Kiss Army Things" did a phenomenal job re-editing scenes to really make this movie be more action packed with better sound effects/better Adobe After Effects, etc. I can't say if Hannah Barbara was under some kind of budget restraint or what, but I always was left with the impression they could have made this made for TV movie far better. And then the movie could have been limited by what effects were around at the time. Either way the movie aired late night around Halloween in 1992 on TBS cable TV and one of my brother's mutual friends called and I answered. He was tremendously excited when he told me to "turn the TV channel to TBS quickly! I can't believe it really exists!" I did and I popped a vcr tape into the vcr and recorded the last portion of the movie. And after so many years of wondering about it myself, I was watching it. My brother (not a Kiss fan), claimed it should have been made better since Kiss starred in it. He enjoyed it and I loved it. 😊 It was a great treat for our Halloween time in '92. And as I remember being a Kiss fan back then fans weren't allowed to speak of the movie as it was a low point in the band's career, plus Music from the Elder wss another off-limits discussion. Not sure if this was mutual among all Kiss fans or just a small select few who may have gotten the initial story incorrect and/or confused. Pre-internet days was full of wading through magazine articles, video footage and handed down stories from other fans. I was 15 when I saw Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park in 92'. Although I had been a fan since 89' when I was 12. 😊
That's awesome. Totally agree, the US version not on the Kissology disc was a miss. And I can TOTALLY recall those days, when you "couldn't speak of this film". Forgot about that, but man that brought back a lot of memories. I remember being in high school and me and my friends were always wondering why KISS doesn't' celebrate the film more. Crazy and fun times. Have a wonderful weekend!
Ha, This movie is in my DNA too. My fav era is 73-75 when they were dangerous , I am going to start a series of articles on that dangerous era, but I cant wait to get the new megos so I can make a phantom diorama with the monsters mego......Dirty Lowriders
Thank God that movie isn't in my DNA. I mean, I never wanted to be the dorky Kiss fan, and just thought it was stupid. To say any of the 4 actually acted good is a reach. Probably the worst move of their career. Set in motion the whole "Kiss is a kids band" thing with all the Sabbath, and Zeppelin fans.
@@ItsAllForYouDemon / Its easy to do "revisionist" history, but I can only imagine if they would have done a Kiss album in 78, with 70% of the Paul Stanley album, and break up the other 30% between Gene and Ace. Yes, Ace's album is fantastic, but is very different from Kiss, or the Shock Me style of writing. I remember that Kiss meets the Phantom book... I owned it back in 78. Unfortunately my life revolved around Kiss, and my 4th grade teacher, a nun no less caught me with it inside my math book. Catholic schools didn't mess around. Sent to office, hair pulled, and pulled by the ear all the way to the principal's office. Another nun, who then ripped the thick mag in half, no bs Rik. Also called my dad, who actually really didn't see the harm, since he bought me the magazine. Oh, I would have been a genius if not for Kiss. Always had strong SAT scores, but hated school.
Oh man, that is an awesome memory, not awesome that it happened, but that's the kind of stuff that births legends. That's crazy. But awesome at the same time in a rock and roll way. And yes, agree on the 78' Album. So fun to think about.
@@ItsAllForYouDemon / I had read that magazine probably 3 times, so it wasn't like I didn't get something out of it. I had only found out that it was in their contact's to do solo album's.
That's a GREAT MAG.RIC! Good score!!!!! I will def agree with you on paul! His dialog was little to ROBOTIC!!!! Just like the fake kiss in the movie !!!!!! No feeling in his lines!!!!!!!!
Absolutely! I always say it's my number one favorite movie of all time, but you kind of have to put an Asterisks there...it's so cheesy it's fun, it's so bad, it's good. Thanks for watching! Have a great day.
Of Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter, who do you think was the BEST ACTOR in KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK? ("They all suck votes don't count")
It's All For You Demon Paul was pretty bad. When he makes that face doing laser eyes, I can actually feel his pain. However sweet it may have been.

KISS was interviewed on the national Danish radio around the time the movie came to our cinemas in 1980. Paul's response was "Our apology" 😂
Oh wow! That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing that. I love learning stuff like that. Take care.
I remember buying this magazine in '78. I thought it was amazing! As a 13 year old I thought the TV movie was amazing too! Even recorded the audio with my tape recorder.
