The FX update is free, so CS users can update and use the new built in FX (Chorus, Delay, Phaser, etc.) with their previously included 20 tone models. So unfortunately no new amps/tone models, just FX. Nowadays, I think IK Multimedia is pretty much just selling new tone models as add on packs, fortunately there's more user models than I think anyone would ever be able to use, which CS users can choose 20 of those as well.
I think the Names should be switched in my opinion... Amplitude for ToneX because is mostly about Amps.... and ToneX for Amplitude because there is everything about Tone.
Ha! That's a good observation, never thought about that. It seems like they're slowly trying to meld the two, but not going all in. Perhaps a fully combined plugin would be too large or perform poorly(technically and/or financially). I personally would be satisfied with separating all the Tonex amps from their cabs in Amplitube X, and allowing access to the Tonex Tonenet from inside Amplitube. I'm not a program developer though, so I do understand that may be too complicated. For now, what we have works, just a few extra steps.
What did they mean when they said it's "free"? Do users using tonex cs will be able to unlocked amps and tone models for free?
