- Here's a jewelry haul that I hope you enjoy! I found some awesome old pieces at yard sales and thrift stores (and an antique store) the past couple weeks. I got two Victorian mourning pieces, some Ciner & Richelieu, sterling silver, turquoise and much, much more! Let me know which ones are your faves! My Dad's would have been 92 yesterday, and my Mother's Birthday was November 24th, every other year, her Birthday was on Thanksgiving ❤❤ I miss them both 💔

I love the mourning jewellery too! The thistle pendant and earrings are really commonly found in Scotland. When I first started collecting jewellery in Scotland, I was obsessed with ALL things thistles (their national flower). I’d find them in all the antique/vintage shops and fairs. In fact, I think I have those same pieces. I’ve accumulated quite a few sterling thistle pieces over the years, mostly bc sellers knew I liked thistles, so they’d hold onto them for me. I’ve found taxco and jewelry stamped Mexico 925 or sterling and when I tested it it was actually less pure silver such as 800/1000 instead of 925/1000.

My sis and I had our own baby ring too. My sister still has hers but unfortunately mines was stolen almost 3 years ago💔😭 along with all the Navajo jewelr my dad had made for me. My doesn't make jewelry anymore. I hope to come across a piece made from my dad

Well, I tried to find a comp on it and couldn’t. I will set the price at $200 and see what happens. If it turns out to be too ambitious, I will lower. SC should be easy to get exact comps - check those out and then price accordingly.... good luck! 🍀

What are your favorite sites, books, and/or other sources to research jewelry?
Hi Pat! When I'm researching a piece, I will generally do a quick Google search and have a look at the "shopping" button to see what it sells for. A book I'm reading on my Kindle right now is "Old Jewelry 1840-1950" by C. Jeanenne Bell. I like her. I also just got her "Collecting Victorian Jewelry" -- also for my Kindle. She's good! Other than that, I have a pretty big stack of books I've gotten through the years that I like to look at. Hope this is helpful!!!!! Thanks for watching. xo
Hi there. How do you handle pieces with verdigris?
Hey Adele -- I have a video on it if you're interested... But what I do is I take it off either with vinegar & a cotton swab/cloth -- OR -- if the piece seems easily damaged with faux pearls & things, I use a bit of ketchup! Thanks for watching!!! xo
