I like that the Parkers, the Watsons, and Jonah spent their holidays together. This includes Richard telling Jonah about his book, MJ and his sister reconciling, Uncle Ben telling Jonah that he has a shot with MJ’s mom, and Gwen telling MJ what’s happened to Peter and Harry, resulting in MJ to realize that the suit named Venom took his place while the real Peter and Harry are captured by Kraven the Hunter. Let’s hope that MJ and Gwen will try to save their husbands (and/or that Peter and Harry will free themselves) from Kraven. Overall, this is a great comic!
@@Slitheringpeanut I’m not a bot post; I’m expressing my opinions of this comic (and other comics I’ve read) on this channel and other comic channels I’ve subscribed to.
Oh come on, what's your evidence for that, other than every single comic book Jonathan Hickman has ever written? The man can't get out of bed without writing a four digit body count.
Hickman needs to learn to make use of a montage to pad the action without eating the page count. One of the most brilliant moves in the original Ghostbusters is the montage scene after Slimer. The whole movie actually only shows like five ghosts. The montage part gives you a very satisfying sense that there's a lot more ghost encounters that you never see, but completely comprehend. Captain America TFA did a similar if more elaborate sequence.

I liked the issue honestly .. the only thing I felt weird is Gwen finally got concerned about her man 6 days afterwards…So has the Peter ai if that’s what it is, also just been on auto pilot with mary Jane and the family for 6 days as well? … maybe I’ll just not talk to my wife for 6 days and become sentient and see how long it takes for her to notice… when she finally does I’ll just reply “merry christmas!”
The action will start this month and now that we know stuff about this new ultimate universe, we might get more action this year but I could be wrong. Let's see how this goes.
I don't mind the slow burn. There has been a lot of set up, and hope looking forward to the payoff. You've never been to one of these unfun family get togethers?
This book has been so bad and I really wanted to like it. It feels like a tv show where you tell your friends that the first season sucks but keep watching for season two because that's where it gets better.
At least something is happening in Ultimate X Men. Wish to discuss the issue 10 with you, Jim. And who is this Shay? Human are protesting to get rid of the mutants. Because Humans Hate and fear mutants’ powers. The mutants fight back. Including Human Parents encouraging Their mutant children to use their powers on humans. And the media going two different perspectives from the mutants and the humans. The mothers of the boys who bullied Tsubasa blames Armor for what Shinobu done. And Shadow King entity had Mind freak Armor and the boys’ mothers Armor is unaware she using her power to choke one the mothers. I do feel that Tsubasa is also the host of The Shadow King. Maybe Shadow King planet a psyche link on Armor’s Omamori. Psychic and telekinetic can do that. Remember what I told you about Elias Bogen and Jeffery Garrett? Elias didn’t possessed Jeffrey but Elias did follow Jeffery into school making him and the x men hostages. It happened in Extreme X Men. Have you seen what Happened to Natsu? Oh my god. I just want to hug her. Poor Kid. She’s been through a lot. Like This what is important of X Men. Kids and outcast who need help and proper guidance. Like what Nico said in issue 8, “People who are empty and need something to believe in that’s what cults prey on”. The Mutants who fight back are misguided because what Maester told them that they special and they’ll rule the human. Just like how the humans are misguided by their own fear and hate of mutants. Does it remind you of someone? The Friends of humanity? Reaver? Purifiers? Jim did you really think this should be call the Ultimate Runaways and Runaway from all of this? At least Ultimate X by Jeph Leob did ran away but later they built a new X Men team. And the end of issue 10. It obviously MayStorm. It is definitely her. Who else other than Surge would tell her how to find the Children of the Atom Building? You think MayStrom will free Daken? That would be interesting. Or it could be Daken. Shinobu might’ve free him before leaving the building. My question is, where is Psylocke and her biological brother? I know they hiding after Psylocke post the body in internet but what hell are they are doing all this time? Isn’t Psylocke supposed to be the mentor? You know, that is what the Synopsis describes her in issue 7 and the positive advice that her brother gave her? I hope she appears in next issue at least. Like I really hope issue 11 and 12 will deliver. They announced issue 13 a long time. A New Mutant Order. It is titled. So it becoming more like X Men.
I've excitedly read every issue of Ultimate X-men but #10 that you describe above is going to be my last one. . .besides one variant cover #12 that I can't resist cuz I'm going to display it as my trophy for having dutifully digested the first 10 months lol. . .but I'm skipping eleven and I'm done -- I wanted to love it! :/
This run feels like it was made to be a graphic novel and not a monthly thing, I started late and picked up the first vol which was 6 issues in one and loved it but the monthly no shows and slice of life stuff is starting to ware thin, last issue was a good pick me up but this issue was snore fest until the cliff hanger
I enjoyed the issue well enough while reading it, but then getting to the end, realizing how little we got in the comic left me very disappointed. This was easily the worst issue of USM, the only issue that has left me unhappy overall after reading, hopefully Hickman does better going forward.
3:24 I mean The Spider Man fans and loyalists had too much abuse from Nick Lowe, Zeb Wells and Paul. They need to have an alternative to supporting a good spider man comic where Peter finally is married. Like I remember the first announcement of Ultimate Spider Man issue 11. Wes said he was worried that Peter would cheat on his wife with Felicia Hardly. I thought. Really? Wes is more worried about Peter cheating on his wife than his A.I Costume that mostly likely will become Venom? I mean I positive that The A.I costume will try to steal Peter’s family. That what is at this people all you wants to keep things safe. It just keeping things safe and keep Peter happy and not the Parker luck dragging him down. Or MJ will get dragged down if she gets powers like Jackpot and no one wants to see Jackpot again. I can’t review this issue. I didn’t read it entirely. I just flipped through the pages. I buy Ultimate Spider-Man in trades only.
I feel like fans Peter/MJ (including me) really wanting to like this book, plus the anti paul etc feeling is keeping USM up there. But I'm not buying again until I hear something is actually happening.
What both are trying to convey to us, well at least i hope its a mere suggestion. That we the readers, who like this, are suffering from denial ptst or shellschock. And are not in our right mind to handle reality. And are trying our hardest to cope with not beeing able to deal with the loss of our once loved franchise. Issue one of Usm offered the synop on the cover Usm meet the Parkers Spider-man Peter Parker family man.
The Ultimate universe has been a disappointment. Dropped The Ultimates and the way the other books have progressed has killed my interest in Ultimate Wolverine. I’m only continuing to read USM because ASM is awful. I’d be really interested to see how many pages Spider-Man has actually appeared in this book? Also, as bad as Mary Jane’s family seem to be, it could be worse. This version could be with Paul.
I mean if this didn't have the exquisite Chechetto art I'd have already given up on it. . .really tired of the milquetoast Green Goblin / Norman rehash over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over lol . . .the Black Cat cameo recently was less than an afterthought beyond all of the time that I'm sure was given to considering what her skin tone should be lol -- totally flat & unmemorable interpretation of Felicia smh. . .my interest nose-dived after that, sadly. . .I'll keep reading it tho since I just dropped Ultimate X-men after 10 issues and never read the other new Ultimate titles to begin with.
Well written snooze fest. I don't hate family drama stuff but come on. Would it be so hard to have 50/50 superhero action and family drama? How many months do we have to think "something cool is about to happen" and then....nothing. The Hickman fan club have gone from telling us to be patient to telling us that superhero books actually don't need superheroes.
@WeirdScienceComics agreed. If they did that regularly then an issue like no.12 would be fine. The problem is it comes along in the middle of a run where no action is happening anyway, so it's not a change of pace or interlude.
I really don’t know what Hickman was trying to prove here. It seemed he was trying to show up everyone that you can have slice of life or people standing around and it be good, but he failed miserably. I dropped this book at issue 3 but I wanted to give this one a shot just based on the cover. Didn’t flip through it or anything and I was so annoyed at the decompression constantly anticipating SOMETHING happening on the next page turn beyond this modern audience / family Christmas tale… At one point I was thinking was MJs Mom gonna at LEAST bang Ben and give us some weird grandma/grandpa porn…or maybe MJ’s sister going after Peter or hinting at a possible previous affair to make it interesting but nope, just an absolute slog … And sure, great cliffhanger but I feel we could have had some other subplots with some sort of action. Why have such a talented artist just sit and draw Real life Family gathering situations? Anyway this book just made me realized why I dropped it😅
