- Departing from Vava'u in Tong for a solo voyage to New Zealand by the end of August. It is a quite challenging trip with low pressure systems coming over every 5-7 days. I encounter a squall and sail up to 11 knots of speed in 30 knots of wind.

this is the most pure sailing channel I have found. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
This may be the most honest sailing video I have ever seen! Subscribed
think you're right!
Dear Jacquelin, you are simply unique. Even during the preparations for the seminar, when I met you for the first time, I sensed that you were planning something big. But the way you are realizing it is simply amazing. I wish you continued success in making all your dreams come true. Good luck and stay healthy.
I do have one more question: why are you sailing with the autohelm and not with a Pacific in these conditions? And why don't you take the pendulum rudder up? It would have a less negative effect on the main rudder.
Deal Jacquelin, sometimes ist looks quite dangerous. Is there a reason, why you are not using a rollfock? Best regards from Germany. Jürgen
One reef in the main, 30 knots of wind, and doing 11 knots over the ground, you were so calm, like "no big deal." That really surprised me. You are a very confident sailor! And you could sure use a fuller. I felt for you, but I knew you were OK because you uploaded the video, so obviously, you made it through.
I look forward to future videos.
I was fascinated watching you working the foredeck, flaking, rolling and bagging the genoa. I admire your energy. I have been sailing under junk rig for a decade or so, and watching you work the deck convinced me I don't want to return to bermudan rig. Still, you were the boss! Much admiration.
Wow! That’s what I call real sailing. You are an amazing sailor. You make it look easy. I wish you had a roller furling head sail to you don’t have to leave the safety of the cockpit in those conditions. Be safe
This was my favorite video yet, I loved the shots of you changing sails. That was fantastic 🙂
I really enjoy your videos!
Jacquelin - by the grace of a higher authority i happened upon your channel and voyage to NZ. As a former recreational sailor i envy your journey and the thrill and exhilaration of the wind and seas - may the winds be favourable and the seas be following and calm - oh & i am eagerly awaiting the next installment - naturally you made me a subscriber too.
Bravo Jacqueline!! As a solo sailor also, I admire your courage in front of this big waves and also to do all that without a furler!! For me, even with a harness, less I go on the deck, safer it is 😅
Thanks for taking me along. It's a long time since I did my sailing, particularly offshore sailing, but your camera work brought it all back to me, especially working up on the bow. Thanks again & best wishes for the continuation of your travels.. (from New Zealand)
Love Works really does work ❤
Welcome to Able Tasman Land Aotearoa🎉
Fantastic sailing …sorry about the cold spring weather 🌦️
Blessings to you and your lovely boat.
wow... great in every point of view.. will see every episode from the beginning.
FELICITACIONES CAPITANA POR UNA INCREIBLE NAVEGACION Y OTRO GRAN VIDEO !!!!!!! TE MANDO UN GRAN SALUDO DESDE LATITUD 34 S. ARGENTINA Y BUENOS VIENTOS !!!!!
Welcome to New Zealand 💚🙏
First time watching, greatly enjoyed the video. I sail on Lake Superior in the US, cold rough water.
Great Jacquelin 👏👏👏
You’re an inspiration to many. Myself included. 😊
Wow you are an inspiration. I just turned 56 and wouldn’t have the guts to do this on my own even if I had enough knowledge. Would love to sail the world though!
Ik heb genoten!!
Dank voor de beelden!
Respect !!!
Dang .. this makes my hands sweaty just watching this
Hello, I was born on the 24th of August also, in 1964. This year I've met 3 other persons who where born the same day. Before I've never met any people during 59 years. It's Funny. Enjoy yoyr trip.
Just found your channel. You are a really gutsy lady. Enjoying it already. 😊
Grinde in the Pacific - had one for 8 years, such a strong boat. Enjoy your life. Greetings from Hamburg
There are cons and pros both with a hang on headsail or with a furling system. But when I see you as a solo sailor circumnavigating struggling on the fordeck snd putting your self in unnecessary danger with the hang on headsail, I wonder why you didn't prioritize to invest on a furling system 🙄 That is one of my top priorities investment on my boat as a solo sailor. I want to believe that Holly must be very happy doing the upgrade with the new furling system. For a solo sailor it is actually a crucial, essential and a safety feature on the boat. In terms of performance it might not be the best but like I said, there are pros and cons for both systems. I hope you do an upgrade in New Zealand if that is what you want and you can afford it of course. Thanks for the lovely videos. Safe travels
Hi. You need to tighten the main halyard, so you have luff tension, else you risk snapping the plastic sail slides. If you apply luff tension the slides will last longer.
Cheers and enjoy New Zealand.
Wow Sailor great episode ❤, be safe out there
Loved the video!
this is the way it is, waht is is about...I'm impressed!! And more I enjoyed the video, TNX!
Came across this video on a Facebook post. I look forward to traveling like this in a few years. Thanks for the inspiration and I have subscribed to follow your journey.
I really enjoyed this video. It shows the grind that sailing can be unlike so many other channels that just show the glamour. Your camera positioning was stellar and gave me the feel of being aboard with you. Subscribed and look forward to your content, Jax. 😎👍
Great effort
Gaaf een van de mooie filmpjes ❤
Amazing Sailing Life
Awesome . Lekker
Gnarly ride, Jacqui! Stay safe!
New subscriber this year. Enjoy your vlogs and your energy. Godspeed.
Well sailed.
Thanks for update. You are so amazing, and very talented sailor. I followed each of your updates on PredictWind track and it showes, how good you are to navigating in this weather conditions on your way. Stay safe and happy. Big hug and sailor salut from me in Denmark ❤️⛵️
Nice achievement so farr 😊
Roller furling would save you a lot of time on the foredeck, especially in bad weather.
Great video. Interesting to see you work on the genoa in these choppy seas. Big waves from behind 😮😮 i’d rather have a lifeline than a lifevest! Stay on board at all costs Go well, looking forewards to your next video.
look again! she also uses a lifeline. pro sailor!
edit: you can have a good look at the lifeline attached while being in the cockpit at around 21:48 / 21:49
cheers
She did use it but not all the time! (Bad girl)!
Go girl. You inspire me,
Thank you.
Not many sailing channels get the rocking and rolling across like you do when you are on the foredeck. Really nice footage. Maybe you could do a segment of your camera setup?
My best wishes for your adventure. Greetings from Norway 👋
Groet, Johan
Tongatapu Is my Island 🏝 Take care on your journey ✨ 🙏
Jij bent echt stoer :)
You'll love the Bay of Islands.
I like the way the small things are setup on your boat. the sheet attachments with soft shackles and your interchange of your autopilot and wind-vane it may be more helpful is you enplane say power draw when and why you swap I suspect reaching the wind-vane is not much help and out phase with the wind? One thing concerned me is your safety line to your harness is too long, if you fall over you will experience great difficulty getting back on board! solution is work out a system that your safety line is attache to the center line of your boat and not near the port o starboard side of your boat. Keep Safe. SV Skoiern IV
11 knopen?
Looks odd when the wave behind the boat is higher than the boat, must be quite a journey and so much fun.
Nice to see, your i an Danish boat👍😊 greetings from Denmark😊
She should get Danish blue cheese free for a year 😅
❤❤❤
Life….no emotions, if it’s time to leave, say your goodbyes and off you go!
Great adventure. I noticed you don't have a life line or a short sling to prevent you from falling overboard. Another I do I leave 200 ft of floating line floating behind the sailboat so I can grab if I fall overboard. If the sailboat move faster than 1.5knt you won't be strong enough to hold the line so you need something at the end to stop you. Something which won't catch floating debris or fishing nets. Stay safe have fun.
wow i was on a 530 foot navy ship and those conditions were not fun then either. i don't love sailing that much to put up with that. You are an unusual woman.
Top, we are sailing to Faliraki )
Hey Jac, nice to see you are doing so well, but I would like to see you reef the main more end what you didt in this voyage. Otherwise fair winds
Wow you have impressive and very admirable guts .. fair winds 🌊⛵️🩷
❤
Wow, you are really pushing that little Grinde hard...
The New Zealand Coastguards have a very nice app (called NZ Coastguard) for your phone/tablet with lots of live information. Anyway, it is great to see someone going solo, very inspiring. Nice to see you take your safety seriously too. I was wondering though where is your dinghy or is the outboard motor for the main boat? Bon vent to Opua.
By not reefing early, you are putting your rig and mast at risk of damage, so far from help. Reef early, especially at night. Always run a preventer on your main for your safety. A carbine mid boom with a few wraps run down to mid cleats will slow down the boom
Do you really think she needs you to tell her that?
@@dboboc no preventer running. 12k ? Solo ? Old boat?
😀
😀
👍
I think you came to realize why the other cruisers stayed in port. It's too cold to sail to NZ so early.
Also, what many don't know is that even though you are stand on vessel over most powered vessels, you must give way to those dragging nets....fishing ships. They try to stay clear of you but it's not their responsibility. They will keep their course until the last possible minute and they if you haven't gotten out of their way, try to avoid you.
My goodness, a hanked-on jib.
Dutch women are without question some of the most formidable the world has to offer.
Someone please sponsor this worthy sailor, and hook her up with a roller furling jib!
she doesn’t need the $ trust me
55!.. I didn’t think you were a day over 40!..
You are one beautiful woman, and your husband is a lucky man !
Husband sit at home biting his nails😅
ohh I really think you should have a furler on that headsail
Don't forget buy a New Zealand Beany 😂
Driven to be courageous or courageously driven? Either way you must be at peace, for if one cannot find peace all alone in the middle of the sea then there is no such thing as peace. Fair winds!
🇳🇿
I learned one thing: She sure is a beautiful woman. Wish she wouldn't sail alone. She would be safer in a buddy system.
Hi there , hoeveel watt zonnepanelen heb jij aan boord ?
30-35 knots of wind, 11 knots of speed and only one reef on the main?!! I guess it all changed very quick and you didn't have time to take another reef or two?!! Must have been scary
Garcia Sandra Martinez Carol Taylor Cynthia
your from the Netherlands ?
hi from Sweden :;D
I am surprised your autopilot steered as well as it did.
Do you produce often some extra drinking water?
Do you have an AIS transponder or receive only?
You could have used a drouge! Gong to fast!
another reef more practical
@@claverton Besides that! She scares me when she do not have the safety line on! Thank you sir! I agree!

Linda garota.....Parabéns!!!!
So all the other sailing channels are reporting ... I don't know... 4 or 5 knots? at that wind speed... why is your boat so fast!?!
Cantsee you ..yet but almost smell you 😅 iam In australia 😂
