Varanasi-Chordaha is just six laning of existing NH-19 (previously NH-2). It was already done in Delhi section and work in Bihar was already done 50-60%. So how is it new project?? Or the highway you mentioned is different???

Hilly areas don't need expressways...they need more simple highways which serve as purpose of expressways as they are already semi access controlled in hilly areas due to mountains nd valleys
Return on investment decides the planning of a project. Northeast has a lower population and because of hilly terrain its very costly to make expressways there. The best that can be done is to build 2 lane highways

Very disappointing!! Jyadatar expressway 4 lane ke hi hai. Expressway to 6-8 lane ka hota hai. 4 lane ka koi expressway koi expressway nhi hota hai. Har road me traffic itna jyada badh gya hai, desh ki awadi Kaha pahuch gai hai, ese expressway ke nam par 4 lane ka road chipka diya ja rha hai. Ek side to to ye track wale kabja kar lete hai dusri side se overtake karne se sochna padta hai ese me kya ghanta time ka bachat hoga
Expressway ka lane se koi lena dena nahi hota. China & Europe ke maximum Expressway/Motorway 4 Lanes ke hi hai. Access Controlled 4 Lane EXPRESSWAY ek 8 Lane HIGHWAY se behtar hota hai. Germany me 2 Lanes ke bhi Access Controlled Expressway (Autobahn) hai.

Abhi purvanchal expressway pe major accident hue hai, ese me road ki wide agar kam hogi aur speed limit above 100 honge to accident ke mamle aur badhenge. Isliye govt. Ko chahiye ki expressway 6-8 lane hi bnaye. Future me cost bhi badh jata hai.
