Every now an then we are asked about the benefits and value of the smartmod PRO tristartester in comparison to the widely available cheap testing boards that attach to the lightning port for diode mode readings.
In this video, we are demonstrating the use of smartmod PRO tristartester vs. the cheap chinese breakout boards that are sold as "dock testing board". I use this 5 dollar tool and is very accurate to me. This video is made only to sale more those expensive tristar testers

Sherif, if you get good results with the 5$ board that is amazing. We would be more than happy to see a video of this as nobody before you has ever gotten reliable results with this board and a multimeter. Blow our minds :)

I'm not an expert but It doesn't seem like you do an appropriate measure of the first pin, the value read by the multimeter keeps raising and you didn't wait to see if it stopped or not.
the 5 dollar dock tester is not a dock tristar tester, it is a tester for flex only if the flex cable is ok or not

The 5 dollar tool is not accurate with Diode mode. You need to create your own tool with two cheap testers for test consumption

1st Blu tristar tester will test wrong, it happen to me few times. 2 With cheap trostar tester you should measure in amperage mode not diaode mode, learn how to use it before you blame it.

@@olaidehamidolamide8864 the way you use a dock tester is not just by measuring voltage drop... Connect a multimeter to ur power supply and supply ur multi with 100ma. U get a better result than that pathetic tester thats not worth its price.. Besides if u learn how to test it urself u get a better education regarding repairs..

Your scale is set too high and you cannot see the change needed
Bear in mind that you need a known good dock and battery on the phone. I came accross these while I was looking for a dock tester. I am fairly sure I have a bad dock so this would show failure of charge. That would be false.
Another troll using in a wrong way the dock test 🤣🤣 I guess you feel more professional with the other tool !!
