Prairie lee is my favorite lake in lees summit. I caught a nice 4 pounder there a few weeks ago while pan fishing. I was using a 6th sense underspin on 4lb test with a ultra light rod. It was fun lol
Did you let him fight or try to pull him in quick? I'm always tore between letting them fight and water skiing them to me. I worry about bass spitting them because their mouths are so big but not so much with trout or other species
Crazy to see a Missouri fishing video on here, from independence and idk where to fish lol I try blue springs and Odessa but not a lot of luck. Also don’t have a boat or kayak, just bought a 6 person inflatable raft tho haha
What are you looking for? In our side of MO we don't have the option for rainbow trout until the late fall and winter months for stockies, so your best and most common bets are going to be bass, catfish, and panfish. I usually just shoot for panfish myself as either ultralight or fly fishing so I like going to Lake Jacomo and Carl Migliazzo Park
I live in Lees Summit. I’ve tried Prairie Lee once. Caught a bunch of huge green sunfish/bluegill hybrids. Caught one small bass. But that morning I hooked into a monster. Saw it come to the surface once. It was easily 6+. But he pulled some drag and wrapped me around something and my line broke.
@@HypnoticHook Sometimes I bank fish sometimes I Kayak. One of my favorite things to do is put on my chest-high waders and hit up the creeks in the KC Metro. Creeks are an overlooked water in the city since they don’t receive the same pressure. Size is usually smaller, but a wide variety of species. Biggest fish I’ve landed in the Lees Summit area is a 7 lb bass at the pond by Legacy Park. That place is really good fishing in March, then drops off but picks up again in mid-October and there’s usually a good bite for 3 or 4 weeks when they try to fatten up for winter. Not sure why the bite falls off so much from April-September…you can still have some good days there but it’s best in early spring or late fall.
Wow! 7 pounds?! That's crazy! I also love to creek walk and fish. I have yet to find anything other than sunfish and some creek chubs on my adventures. I also like to wade but I've only done it in branson for Trout Fishing. Where do you like creek fishing around here?! Is legacy park here in Lee summit? We take our daughter to swim classes there and I've been eyeing the water their heavily and plan on hitting it with the kayak soon! Let's go do some fishing sometime I'd like that a lot!
Good white bass fishing in that lake also. Big catfish when the 2 creeks that feed that launch area are flowing. Wish they never closed down the small cliff area on the NW corner.
My brother's personal best was caught that way. He was fishing for bluegill with his 3 year old son. Using one of those cheap spider-man poles with a small hook and bobber. Something swirled after the bluegill that was hooked on the worm. The bluegill came off but the 6.5 lb bass somehow stayed hooked. The tiny hook got itself into the tough flesh in the corner of the mouth...but when he got it in it was basically hanging by a string of flesh. Not sure how it didn't break that cheap line either. The reel was useless after getting the fish in. That's the weird thing though...a lot of people catch their PB in weird ways. I myself caught my biggest bass on a small crankbait...like the tiny grasshopper ones that you use to target bluegill. It had the tiniest treble hooks. It hooked itself in the corner of the mouth as well. Not sure it would have stuck anywhere else.
@@turinturambar347wow that would be an awesome video the spider man pole retired after 😂 this catch on the crawdad wiggle wart was my pb! Glad I caught it on video! I tried a trout crawdad like a tiny one I bought on a float trip and the hooks all got bent outwards it was only a pound and some change I bet only used it the one time 😅😂😂
@@HypnoticHook That was a nice fish. But if you fish that pond at Legacy Park, I guarantee you that you'll break your PB eventually. I caught a 7 lb bass out there two years ago, and caught a 6.5 this year. And I have it on good authority(somebody in LS Parks) that somebody caught a 9 out of that pond this spring. In the same spot I caught the 7 two years ago. Maybe it was the same fish...that fish looked healthy and young and looked like it had a few more years left in it. It's a good spot. Just don't tell anybody about it ;). Best bait that works in that pond is swimbaits and spinners. I've heard there are big catfish in that pond too, though I've never brought my catfish gear down there.
@@turinturambar347that gives me hope because I actually went fishing there a couple days ago and only caught two crappie that were about 4in big. I was like no way that's all I got to bite 😂
That's a fun little lake! The green sunfish love Pop-r baits out there!

This is my favorite little lake that nobody ever goes to. Never been back in that creek but always figured those bass spawn back in there.
Maybe I should of made a video now people are gonna wanna go haha😅

You might have to try your hand at Waterfall Park, it's the lake right next to the Bass Pro shop, and it's catch and release only
@@Agileroc would love to catch a big bass or catfish
@@AgilerocI've always wondered if you could put a yak or something on that little pond / lake
nice catches buddy... Alone or with a friend, you cant beat a day on the water in a kayak..!!!
The piece of mind to go where most can't is so exhilarating. I like being the guy with the secrets to catch them bign's

Do you kayak/boat around or bank fish. You gotta go back after that big boy. 30lb braid next time 😂😂

Just above the spill way you can smash white bass
I have caught big bass there on LIVE bluegill...in fact, I was fishing for catfish bait, hooked a bluegill, and a big bass WRECKED it!
Really?! What a crazy turn of events! Were you fishing the same side or did you go further around the lake?
