    Patrick Troughton was famous for getting along with everyone. He befriended pretty much every other Doctor. Everyone loved him, he was so famous for his charismatic personality, so people just loved him instantly.

    Partick is the Doctors Doctor. Every classic Doctor including Tom Baker talks about how brilliant he was and even Hartnell said he was the only person who could replace him.

    The fact that Peter Davison admitted he probably cant be like Tom Baker and decides to take parts from his other predecessors and make a new character is such a positive mindset. Its weird to see him so young now after watching so many interviews and panels with him now

    • @Number6_
      @Number6_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom Baker was perfect for the part, no one will play it that well. He only left because he couldn't stand his co stars. Especially adric. He found himself surounded by teenages who he hated to work with.

    It's strange that when I see these old interviews, I say to myself "Peter's way too young for the part", but when I see him actually playing the role in old episodes, I think he was deffinatently the right man for the role because when I watch the episodes I say to myself that's the Doctor alright". I do the same thing with Matt Smith.

    And Peter is absolutely adorable.

    But I have also managed to discover many of his other film works, and no matter the film, even the bad ones, he is absolutely brilliant in all of them.

    Love Dr Who. Peter Davidson (IMHO) was an awesome Dr due to the huge energy he brought to the role. He and his son-in-law, David Tennant, are my favorites with Sylvester McCoy in second place. I started watch the series way back when during John Pertwee’s reign as The Doctor.

    Patrick Troughton only suggested to Peter Davison to do 3 years in the role because during Troughton's time in the part? The work load was massive, and the BBC overworked their cast and crew with unimaginable amounts of workload on the serials for so little money. Davison should've always done one more year as the fifth Doctor looking back. As his time in the part had so few good episodes apart from; Castrovalva, Time Flight, Arc Of Infinity, The Five Doctors, Resurrection Of The Daleks and of course; The Caves Of Androzani!

    I think it's unfortunate that Peter Davison was never really allowed to be himself when he played the doctor, partly due to the awful scripts. If he were allowed to play the doctor more like the way he played Tristan Farnan, with better stories and more character development, like the Patrick Troughton or Jon Pertwee era, it would have been much better.

    Ah his biggest mistake was NOT adding in something from Tom Baker. Just pulling out of his pocket an old bag of jelly babies, and then eating one, seeing someone staring at him and asking “oh…sorry, don’t mean to be rude, would you like a Jelly Baby?” That would have just made everyone accept him and love him so much more.

      1. Technically, she could be talking about Peter Cushing, who played the role in two movie adaptations in the 60s. It's also possible this was filmed after Davison announced he was quitting the show.
      2. Nobody really cared in the 1980s. Especially since this was the era when the Doctor literally wore question marks on his clothes.

  • @calderarecords
    @calderarecords 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    "Whats the Essence of Dr Who?" - A Typical "I don't know what to ask" question from a female only on there due to her similarities with Princess Diana who was popular at the time. Pat Troughton was the most prestigious actor to play the part, & still is to date.
    Shame about Peter Capaldi but when you don't have people like Verity Lambert & Barry Letts who just let the actors create their own Doctor Characters, & instead have Steven Mofftwat - the ultimate control freak - dictating everything to everyone.. you'll just have frustrated performances on screen. Ever since David Tennant left, Moffat has been forcing everyone to act like him. Over acting, emotional, frenetic dialogue, boasting previous defeats, & overall insincere.
