Absolutely Scorpios on Lilly. In my book, the 89-93 standard multi-spoke plastic wheel cover is without a doubt the best look on a late 240. Alu wheels are some fancy bourgeois 740 stuff! Looking forward to seeing the 245 coming along!

I personally prefer to keep the car as raised as possible. Mostly due to many sharp speed bumps on the road. Have seen multiple times where someone has bought an old 240 and are very surprised when the lowering kit they put on made the car higher. They didn't realize the springs sag after 20+ years.

The 14’ cross spokes…though the 15’ look good to. I’ve just always been partial to the cross spoke 14’s on 240’s

I have 195 65 15s on my 2002 S60 it is quite rare combination because everyone has 16s or 17 or bigger but car seats nicely and ride quality is better

I don't know. When we had 240 wagons in the 90s and 00s, the main mission was to keep them 100% original ( '83 long nose grey metallic, '92 Polar and '92 Classic both white). I don't remember which wheels the Long nose had, but Polar had Multi X and Classic the Scorpius. Man, they looked good on those wheels. And I still believe there is a special place in hell for everyone that puts wrong wheels on a 240. Save your soul, keep the Scorpius on Lily! 👹🤣

Great comparisson! I've been having 195/15/80 AT tyres on my 240 for a year now. They're a bit loud on highway, but great on gravel roads and in winter . I like the slighly lifted look on 240, but sometimes think to switch to normal 15's for summer cruising :). I think I will get me a set of summer 15's :)

I find it interesting that some of us North Americans swap on the E-Code front lights on our Volvos and some Europeans swap on NA spec front lights on their Volvos.
I am biased towards the Scorpios as my first Volvo, a 244, had them.

Scorpius. You can tell if the car is lowered by looking the front lower control arm angel. If it is almost horisontally level it is std height car. If it's upwards to the wheel it is lowered. Except the original turbo 240.

Maybe some lowering springs from Lesjöfors? Or standard ones from a GLT, which sits a bit closer to the ground. On 15" rims a 240 has a higher ground clearance than many SUVS.

I’m speaking in 700 words here, but probably the same applies to 200 models. Originally Volvo offered several thicknesses in the 700 front spring, the same principle as with the rear springs (for example there were 13.7, 14.5, 14.8mm front springs).
The front spring thickness/strength got determent by Chassis Type of the car. This type numbering took in account the weight of a specific engine and the extra’s that where put on that model like turbo’s, compressors, radiator size etc. As years went on most of these strength variations where ignored and nowadays a lot of aftermarket manufacturers only make a one-size-fits-all front spring. (for example Lesjöfors just makes one version for all 700 and 900 series alike (14.5mm thick)).
Especially on older normal aspirated base models these thicker springs cause the front of the car to be too high. My advise, add some cinder blocks from your garden fence under the hood and away you go…😉
And a bit of advice I got from my dad when I was younger: when in doubt..., you actually already know

    Hey man,
In my experience - after putting the car back on the ground - it may sit quite a lot higher than normal. (because of bushings) I suggest going for a short drive (speedbumps help also). It makes a lot of difference when trying on new wheels.

If you ask me, I liked the cross spoke smaller wheels better. For memthe 15 just looks too modern for the 240. This is just my taste. I would get some different springs for it, so the front gets a bit lowered and put those back. Obviously I am not a volvo person, and my cars are more modern, but classics now, but its my opinion. I like puting the moast modern, but period correct wheels on cars. Thats why I loved the 15s on the 740. In the end, its all a matter of taste, but the front section needs tomgo lower, no question. ( Ive got a bmw e39 touring, audi a6 c5 avant like the one you had in England, and I got a 2004 saab 9-3 nearly free, so plenty of projects too. I do like staying moastly stock). But dont get me wrong, I would love a 740 wagon.

I think you should get yourself a half inch drive battery gun saves a lot of time and when you let the car of f of the jack do a lock to lock on the steering to settle it all back down you may lose half an inch or so on the height best wishes to your better half and bubba

Earlier this year I done an overhaul to front and rear suspension including new stock spring all around. With this stock setup the gap at the front is excessive (similar to your situation on Lili) to the point that the car looks lowered in the rear. It made me paranoid as I thought that there is something wrong with the rear of the car. Maybe the front springs will settle down a bit but the current stance of the car is somewhat compromised to say the least. Maybe lowering the front isn't a bad thing after all.

Looks like someone changed out your springs on your 240. After watching your video, I went out and measured the tire/fender gap on my all original 240 on with Scorpius wheels and 185/70R14 tires.
