Had one of these for a while. Actually two. Really handy on drum rooms of fok when you have a good sounding room they bring up the tail of the sound in a really pleasing way.
@@maxbauhof yes, haven't tried the reissue though it seems very similar and probably more stable than the original. The plugin limiter doesn't seem to respond the same.
Ive thought about the 500 series ones quite a few times! Would love to see a demo of those! Also, If I end up getting a rack version, I think Id opt for the Txfrmr upgrade! For the extra few hundred bux I think Id do it! I think I actually emailed Q2 and asked what the difference was a few years ago, but forget what they said.
Max lo felicito y le agradezco por mostrarnos todos estos equipos qué tal vez nunca podríamos soñar escucharlos!!! Le pregunto si ud podría hacer una muestra del standard audio stretch Gracias
1:16 is nice.. so is 2:15. Obv gets a nice room squeeze on the drums, if that's what you're looking for. I really liked it on the acoustic gtr clip on those initial settings.
Is it me or it just give everything a room or overhead feel without having a room mic. What’s your thought you are in real time hearing it. How would you use it. Blend under the original sound for a punchier sound. What’s your thoughts
For general use I’d use a lot less compression, definitely went heavy with the compression on this video for the drums and yeah your right it gets that room sound. I’m sure it would be great in parallel too like you outlined. Thanks for watching! It would definitely be killer on some room mics.
quite exciting. i think it was compression that i loved about distortion as a kid. heard these units were finicky and hard to repair. sounds electric though
Yeah real cool piece, I like it on the guitar and bass with just a little gain reduction too on the lower ratios too. Yeah that doesn’t surprise me that they are hard to repair, at least the vintage ones.
oh my god this thing sounds amazing, I have never heard one solo like this.
It’s great, thanks for watching!
I have some of the 500 units coming today. I cant freaking wait...
Nice!

Hell yeah, Yeah I bet it sounds insane in a proper room.
Always loved a Compex, wish I still had one.
They are badass, did you have a vintage one?

Oh nice, I’ve never tried a vintage one. I didn’t know there was a plug in emulation, interesting.
Id say this is the one. Very versatile
Badass compressor, especially on drums
@@maxbauhof Do these have transformers in them? I don't think they do but im not sure

Nice, I haven’t tried the 500 yet- I’m curious too I’m sure it’s killin. I’m also not sure if this one was standard or had the transformer upgrade.
Wowww! Very very nice!! That raw sd!!
Thanks for watchin💯
Great video man, been wanting to hear why this comp is so revered
It’s badass for sure, thanks for watching.

Thanks Jorge, if I get my hands on one I’ll demo it. Thanks for watching!

Me too, dig it on the low ratio little bit of GR on the acoustic. Thanks for watching!
Love your videos thanks doing them. How do you like this verses your 1178?
The compex reminds me a lot of my neve 33609c
It’s super aggressive which is badass on drums but I’d take my 1178 over it just for general use.

@@maxbauhof they are an absolute b#@h to line up so both sides match!
How much is this one?
$3,350 before tax
What’s that snare?
13x6 maple snare
@@maxbauhof Ohhh... I love maple snares... awesome!
0:27 and 1:00 best sound 👍
Thanks for watching, love this compressor. One of those comps that gives instant gratification
Man this is a beast! Which do you like better the Neve or this one?
Hmmmm I’d probably take the neve for an all arounder, the compex is tempting though 😆
@@maxbauhof Compex on the drums bus and Neve on the mix bus... ✌️
Haha, There ya go
did you find yourself never using the expander? curious too if you still own this? @maxbauhof
I don’t have any experience using the expander, sorry wish I did! And I only had it for a day or so to do the demo, great unit though
