The Madhur Madanantheshwara Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, located in Kasaragod, has a rich historical and architectural significance. Originally built by the Mypadi rulers of Kumbla in the 10th century, the temple underwent renovation in the 15th century to attain its present form. Its grandeur captivates not just devotees but also architectural enthusiasts, as it beautifully amalgamates Hindu and Jain architectural styles.
This temple boasts a three-tiered dome, with the top two storeys featuring copper plate roofing and the lower one adorned with tile roofing. The wooden pillars and beams intricately carved within the temple premises showcase the remarkable craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Stucco images depicting Indian mythological scenes embellish the temple's walls and roofs. The Namaskara Mandapam, positioned in front of the sanctum, exhibits wood carvings portraying scenes from the Ramayana. Within the temple complex lies a deep well, its water believed to possess healing properties as it remains untouched by direct sunlight.
The temple's history is interwoven with various rulers, notably Jai Simha I, the Kumbla ruler. An intriguing tale involves Tipu Sultan, who, initially intending to destroy the temple during his conquest, had a change of heart after drinking water from the temple's well. He spared the temple, leaving only a mark from his dagger, which remains visible to this day.
One of the unique rituals at the Madhur Temple is the Moodappa Seva, a special pooja where a sizable idol of Ganapathi is adorned with Appam, a mixture of rice and ghee. This ritual, known as Moodappa Seva, is conducted on special occasions, with the last one held in 1992.
The temple hosts major festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi and the annual Madhur Bedi festival. Madhur Bedi is a vibrant five-day celebration, and on the fourth day, the utsava moorthi (Thidampu) is taken out in a grand procession.

ಮಧೂರು ಮದನಾಂತೇಶ್ವರ ಸಿದ್ಧಿ ವಿನಾಯಕ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ, ಕಾಸರಗೋಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧತೆಯಿದೆ. ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ನಡೆದ ಕುಂಬ್ಳದ ಮೈಪಡಿ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರರು 10ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು. ನಂತರ 15ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ನೇರ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಂದರ್ಭವಾಯಿತು. ಇದರ ಭವ್ಯತೆ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನಲೂ ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪದ ಪ್ರೇಮಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಇದು ಹಿಂದೂ ಮತ್ತು ಜೈನ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪದ ಶೈಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಮಟ್ಟದ ಗೋಡೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಮೇಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಂಬಳದ ಮೈದಡು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲುವು ಮೈದಡನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಪ್ರಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಂಬಗಳು ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಗಾರರ ಕಲೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಕೊರಳಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೇಲ್ಗಡೆಯ ಮೇಲ್ಗಣೆಗಳು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪುರಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುವ ಸ್ಟಕ್ಕೋ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿವೆ. ಸಂಕೇತದ ಮಂಟಪ (ಗರ್ಭಗೃಹದ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಮಂಟಪ) ರಮಾಯಣದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುವ ಮರದ ನಿರ್ಮಿತ ಅಲಂಕಾರದಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಪ್ರಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಆಳವಾದ ಕೆರೆಯಿದೆ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕಿರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಗೊಳಿಸಲ್ಪಡದ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಶಃ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗುಣಗಳಿವೆ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವಾರು ಹೊರಗಡೆಯ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಬಾಹ್ಯರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ರಾಜರ ಜೊತೆ ಸೇರಿರುವುದು ಹೊರಗೊಂಡಿದೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕುಂಬ್ಳ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಾರ ಜೈ ಸಿಂಹ I ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಬಂದಿವೆ. ಒಂದು ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ಕಥೆಯೇ ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಸುಲ್ತಾನನ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದು. ತನ್ನ ದಾಳಿಯ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ನಾಶಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಬಂದ. ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾರಿ ಹೋದಾಗ, ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಕೆರೆಯಿಂದ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿದ. ಅವನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಕೆರೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದ. ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಬಹಿರಗೊಂಡದ್ದೇ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಬಿದಿರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಗುರುತು ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಿಂದು. ಈ ಗುರುತು ಈಗಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.
ಮಧೂರು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಒಂದು ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಚರಣೆಯೇ ಮೂಡಪ್ಪ ಸೇವೆ, ಇದು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಗಣಪತಿ ದೇವರ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಅಪ್ಪಂ ಹೂಚುವ ಪೂಜೆ. ಇದು ವಿಶೇಷ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ, ಕೊನೆಯ ಬಾರಿ ಈ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು 1992ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳೆಂದರೆ ಗಣೇಶ ಚತುರ್ಥಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಮಧೂರು ಬೇಡಿ ಹಬ್ಬ. ಮಧೂರು ಬೇಡಿ ಹಬ್ಬ ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಐದು ದಿನಗಳ ಉತ್ಸವ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ದಿನ ಉತ್ಸವ ಕಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ಸವ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
