If you are worried about rebuilding your Polaris .... watch this video. I have zero mechanical ability and was successful and saved myself a lot of money. Probably one of the best Fix-it videos I have seen. Thank you!

Wow! Awesome video...PERFECT. I have absolutely no mechanical ability, but this made installing my Polaris 280 rebuild kit bought on Amazon, easy peasy. Thank you so much!

Our 280 came with our house. Worked great first year, not good this year. This video was great! Thank you for helping us save a few hundred dollars by not buying a new unit.

One of the best instructional video's I have seen in a long time. Excellent tips, great camera angles, concise and no excess commentary like some people do. Many thanks!

This video is great! Thank you for making it so specific and in steps. It was the impetus for us buying a tune-up kit versus a new Polaris 280 and saved us $500.

This is one of the best videos I've seen on taking apart and putting back together a polaris to find and fix a problem.

Awesome. Clear and precise. For those with a little mechanical skill you covered the bases without droning on and on. Thank You!

Thank you for this! My rear wheel wasn't cooperating with the rest of the wheels and this helped me figure out what was wrong and how to resolve it. I'm very grateful.

Great Video! . i was hesitant to take apart my polaris, not after watching this video. My wheels were not turning. Everything else seemed to function fine. I watched the video and took apart the polaris. I found the debris in the hole where the water comes out to the paddle wheel inside, thus stopping the wheels from turning. Such a small hole stopped the entire thing from working. I cleaned out the debris, put it back together. Thru it in the pool and off it went, just like new. THANKS

Michael Dickinson omg! Thank you for your post. I have completely rebuilt my Polaris. Took it apart 10times. I was about to give up and buy a new one. Then I read your post. Sure enough. There was a small piece of debris lodged in the hole that fed the propeller chamber. Cleared it and Preston! Works like new!

Great video. First one I've seen that covered aligning the wheels which was the cause of my issues after rebuilding the 280.

This helped with my Polaris problem: the drive wheel wasn't turning at all. I found out the tube from the supply spout to the paddlewheel was blocked with debris. I used a pipe cleaner to open the tiny hole, and then used a hose nozzle to backwash the tube. Now, everything is working!

Glad I found this also. I was getting real upset. the thing will not move and I have checked and replaced so many parts!. I think that the wheel adjustment must be the problem. It feels really tight! I can't wait to get home and tear into it and do it right!

Hey Don, before you tear into it - check that the cleaner is getting enough water to it. 1. Check the wall fitting screen to make sure its intact and not full of debris. If its missing or ripped debris then could have gone down the line and plugged one of the small jets inside the cleaner. 2. Check the swivels and back-up valve to make sure they are not leaking too much water. A few small drips is normal but water spraying from any of those means your loosing pressure. Each swivel and back-up valve also have an arrow on it, make sure its pointing with the flow of water. 3. Check each of the jets inside the cleaner for pebbles or debris. This is usually the cause for a cleaner not moving at all. As always give us a shout or drop an email if you need any help! Cheers! PoolZoom.com

@@PoolZoom Thanks, those were the first things I did! new hoses took apart the strainer and blew out all the ports and passages. I even put it halfway back together and ran the pump and "drank a bunch of water" checking that all the ports were getting water.. That thing will send up quite the jet stream from some of those passages.. the only one that concerned me was the one feeding the water wheel. it was getting a good stream I assume it is not a hard jet is the the hole size..I took it apart again just now and got it to loosen up but feel the wheel bearings should be replaced.. It seems kind of sloppy and makes a heck of a racket...

What's the point of replacing almost everything except for the base shell? If you have to replace everything, doesn't it more sense to buy a new one?
