  • We follow Cullybackey farmer Robert McCaughey through last years season as he cuts the grass for the winters silage.
At the end of the season Robert and his fellow farmers run a corn cutting day using an array of vintage and modern machinery.

I'm from Pennsylvania and I live near New Holland. Glad to see them in use in Ireland!

It's interesting to see how farming has progressed over the last 50/60 years from the old double choppers to the modern self propelled that you would have to sell your house to buy

For sure.. The guy that owned the self propelled was looking to upgrade too and it would take a very nice house to pay for the new one!

@@VideosofIrishFarmingLife I think farming and contracting paid better back in the old days, I know it was smaller kit and less output but in many ways it was more efficient cos you were powering the forager with a tractor that you would use all year round for many other jobs. I noticed only last week a online farm sale where what appeared to be a pretty decent Reco- Mengele trailed forager sold for £1,000 ......well a contractor won't do very many acres of silage for that money.......who ever bought it had a cheap machine i think

Think the tractors growed up , from that ancient David brown and Nuffield to those new Holland's .

That is some absolutely stunning forage that was put up in this video !.!
I'd love to have a stand of oats like that for this years hay crop. I am curious though as to why y'all call oats corn over there ?
