A common misconception, and I know you guys get this but for folks watching, at 12:50ish - this isn't Ekko controlling time, though it does represent his fascination with the concept. This is showing that this showdown is a callback to a game they used to play when they were kids, and they're both imagining how it would go then versus how it would go now. And then the watch dings, and we're back to the here and now and it's no longer a game, but it's two people who have known each other nearly their whole lives trying to full on kill each other. It's visually stunning and super cool, but it's fundamentally heartbreaking.
There is something tragic about Marcus. He immediately regretted his past actions and continues to live with guilt, disobeyed Silco's orders to kill Vi even though he knew it would risk his life, is trying to manage peace like his predesessor did ( but has to deal with Silco instead of Vander), and now only continues to work for Silco for his family's safety. We even see him fantasizing about fighting back against Silco. Is he a good person? No. He did terrible things, and his actions have gotten people killed. But it's not hard to imagine that in another life, he might have been good, or at least tried to find redemption.
@hashslingingslasher97 How many deaths is Marcus even responsible for? Grayson’s death was caused by Silco changing the deal on him, and the second-hand responsibility was enough for him to feel crushing guilt. He’s perceived as an asshole in act one, but from Piltover’s perspective, he’s doing his job and actively seeking results. He mourns the deaths of the six enforcers in the plaza and blasts Silco for it. The closest he comes to willful harm is shooting Ekko and holding Caitlyn at gunpoint, but he shoots Ekko in the chest to increase his odds of survival (possibly noticing the bulletproof vest) and is shaking and relenting at the thought of killing Caitlyn. He’s taken it upon himself to act as the peace keeper for Piltover and the Lanes on top of being the sheriff of the enforcers and a single father to a daughter he potentially adopted out of guilt for Grayson, similar to how he saved Vi. He’s absolutely a good person. He’s just in a horrible, inescapable situation, which makes his sudden and unceremonious death all the more tragic.
I know this reaction is old, so I'm sure everyone's figured it out at this point, but a lot of reactors are confused why Jinx thinks Vi is a liar just because she went back for Caitlyn. Silco told her earlier that Vi was there only for the crystal, and then Vi said to Jinx she didn't know what the crystal was and that she was there only for her. When Jinx saw that Vi cared about Caitlyn (someone trying to take the crystal) and went back for her when she was in trouble (something Jinx thinks Vi never did for her), then she assumed Vi was lying saying she was only there for her and that Vi's ulterior motive was to manipulate her and get the crystal for Caitlyn.
One of the most tragic aspects of Jinx is that she *knows* that she's mentally unwell, and does her best to fight against it. We see it when she's watching the bridge; she tells the voice in her head that Caitlyn and Vi hugging is just a good-bye hug, and that Vi won't betray her again. She's giving her sister the benefit of the doubt. Yet Jinx has the constant bad luck (no pun intended) of being in just the wrong place at the wrong time to see/hear something out of context that makes her think/assume the worst, and this time is no different. So once again, her mental state deteriorates in a hurry, and things go wrong yet again.
Just to be clear, I believe he does control time in the game, but he didn't do that here. He was only recollecting memories of him playing with Powder, and used that to dodge all of her actual deadly bullets.
9:00 I love that scene. You can see that Victor is hesitating to disarm the grenade. He is considering letting it blow up, to take out both of them thereby crippling hextech before their ideals get corrupted
Im so late to this party but i gotta say im obsessed with the ekko jynx fight Just watching a silent conversation where ekko used the past in order to tempt her to it "like old times" to win. But the only thing that stopped him was that he stayed in the past for too long and started to see powder again. Its so intense and gets so emotional so fast. The looks they gave durring and after were so heart wrenching
Vi...upon meeting Jinx, did NOT do "everything right." Not even close. That said...Vi also had no idea at all what she was encountering when it comes to Jinx. There is no "right way" to handle Jinx. She's psychotic. Like...actually psychotic...hallucinations and all. She's genuinely too far gone for anyone in THAT world to help her, at all. They just plain do not have the knowledge or resources...period. Even in our world, we'd be hard-pressed to get her proper treatments for her myriad disorders. She's a friggin' grab-bag of psychological issues...mostly more numerous than serious, but a few are pretty clearly extreme. But Vi's biggest mistake, that we see her committing repeatedly later on...is dead-naming Jinx as "Powder." Powder doesn't really exist anymore...there's ONLY Jinx, now. All the memories and thoughts that made Powder who she was, have now become so twisted, and in some cases just plain lost, that Jinx has nothing in common with her aside from the love for tinkering and explosives. Powder died that night in episode 3. "Powder fell down a well." Not literally, but figuratively...she fell down an emotional and psychological pit from which there's NO return. Jinx is what remains, and that cannot ever be changed. The memories that give Vi her mental fortitude and any sense of joy or hope...are anathema to Jinx, they're banal, painful, horrifying. And that can't be fixed. Again, in our world it would still be difficult as hell...in Runeterra...it's absolutely impossible.
Funnily enough, I think they address the hoverboard thing next episode. 😅 The boards they make aren't as well suited for Piltover because the air is denser in The Lanes.
That bridge scene is one of the best scenes ever put to TV.
Without a doubt!

I cry almost as much at this one as I do at the end of ep 3.
The life they SHOULD have lead... my heart.
Sure, but it's certainly also an explicit reference to his actual ability to control time in the game.
@@HuginMuninYeah, him and Heimerdinger are definitely making the Z drive next season

Plus, the popular fan theory is that his wife was killed by someone from the Lanes, explaining his vitriolic hatred.

Dude I love Ekko so much so to see his little moment with jinx was awesome

As you said, that fight was an homage to his kit. Also when he yells “go!”, Ekko’s theme song is playing in the background.
I’ve rewatched the bridge fight a ridiculous amount of times. One of my favorite tv sequences ever.
3 years ago baby haha also just a side note is you guys seem like youd be so goddamn fun to hang out with. what a vibe.
9:00 I love that scene.

This episode goes so hard! Super glad you two are putting these on TH-cam!
For the record, Ekko is a good couple of years older than tracer, both in release date and from when they were first getting worked on.
The Crownless King🫡 His boysaviorhood himself👑
don't know how i never noticed before but Silco's Left eye doesn't even blink when he does, truly alien.
the nerves around that eye have been totally destroyed by the river toxins.. it makes sense

That bridge scene is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen

I’ve been waiting for this.
My favorite episode, because man that Echo x Jinx scene, wow!
Your intro always gives me so much serotonin

"Vi's cool, She's no where near as cool as powder but" THAT WAS PAINFUL TAKE IT BACK
My man on the the left has watched head. He has that same look my wife has when she watched with out me.
Been refreshing for the Agatha finale reaction!!
Didn't you see the community post? That reaction is delayed until next week.
no controlling time...yet
I love how they went 😃 to 😢

Adam ur gruffly look , can we get that bk again...❤
Yes J...family is a bummer at times
Ngl, "He's Tracer basically" hurt my soul
I'm so with you Jay, Jinx is the best.
Adam, love ya man, but the only time you've said Caitlyn's name correctly is in the old videos (and now this intro) lol
Never clicked so fast
His name is Ekko. Not Echo.
Funnily enough, I think they address the hoverboard thing next episode. 😅

1v1 mid, So onpoint...😂
Watching this show without a queer lens or class consciousness is only getting half the story tbh
