Just to clarify, Heimerdinger is a yordle, yordles are immortal, but when their physical bodies are damaged, they teleport back to bandle city, their home dimention
i mean its more so when they die their essence reforms in bandle city then teleport but yeah. we have no idea how long it takes to do so as far as i know so he could be gone for awhile but yeah nah id imagine if they ever do a show about the bandle city region theyll probably start with the scene of heim reforming as an anchoring point lol. To that point tho smeech also aint dead although id be very interested to see what he looks like without the augments since i doubt hed respawn with them🤣
@@aceofspades5911 yup any yordles. The race of yordles are spirits who come to runeterra through portals they can create (or if they cant they have portals only they can see all over runeterra its never clearly defined but ig doesnt really matter at the end of the day) Their home place is in the spirit realm a place called bandle city if you look up the league cinematic the lor one about yordles it shows the place. So yeah if they happened to die in runeterra their body stays there as far as we know but their essence gets sent out back to bandle city and they reform their bodies there. They are all essentially immortal because so but apparently there may be a something one can do to capture their essence to stop it from going back to kill them but its never been done only theorized. But yeah the only hiccup is we also dont know how long itll take for them to reform for smeech maybe it wont be so long cause he only died but something tells me heims situations is gonna be a lil different cause of the way he died (people are theorizing maybe his essence did get sucked up by the anomaly as you can a lil wisp of something right as he disappears and maybe he actually might be dead idk hopefully not hopefully it was just his essence going back home. A lot of people dont realize the hextech gems have antigravity effects as seen in the third ep of season 1 when we see jayce and viktor floating, and ep 8 when we see vi be unable to lift the gauntlet after sevika breaks it, that hammer is pure metal its heavy as fuck
This timeline's Powder is wearing Vander's bracelet as a necklace. In our timeline, Vi was wearing it. We can see it in Vander's flashbacks. That's kind of the moment I realized there was no Vi here. This is just the sweetest and the most painful episode in my opinion. Oh, and please check out the translation for Stromae's song. It's beautiful.
Fun Fact: The Ekko and Powder dance scene was animated at 4 frames per second, just more reinforcement of ekko's time abilities. This was also to mimic the frame rate of the bridge scene where he fought jinx in season 1.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen the outcome Ekko experienced. Yet, it all made sense. Ekko rediscovering his love for Jinx in this alternate universe is what helps him to work with his universe's Jinx, and put aside his differences. It was beautiful to watch. I think most of us would not have had the strength to leave what Ekko left behind. For that, Ekko is a legend.
Truly the boy Savior and I'm glad he was the catalyst that gave Jayce the time he needed to reach through to Viktor. Without him all was lost and it makes up for him giving up his happy ending (barely 😭)
No one seems to realize what the “bad ending” Jayce statue is doing. Look at that arch. Instead of killing Viktor, that Jayce set down his hammer and knelt to Viktor, submitting to his will and accepting an arcane healing.
This time happened like it did all because Vi died, which is an incredible cause and effect. If you go back to episode 2 of season 1, one of the only reasons Heimerdinger originally said that Jayce could get away with just a slap on the wrist for the hex-gem explosion, was because no one got hurt. Because Vi died in this reality, he likely got exiled or put in prison, and his research burned.
And as for why Jayce didn't end up with Ekko and Heimerdinger in that universe... His research just causing property damage and getting exiled was enough to put him on a ledge before Victor saved him. After the explosion killed a child, I'm not sure that Jayce would have come back from that ledge.
Lots of people missed the fact that it was thanks to Heimeidinger that he fixed the past and brang peace to Zaun and Piltover after knowing his mistakes. This episode is like the healing sanctuary for both characters: Heimeidinger being an old man stuck in the past, Ekko being a boy who gave up on the present he living in
Agreed! Too many people just assume that Vi's death brought happiness but it was also Heimer's three year penance after understanding that during his prior leadership Zaun floundered.
This isn’t true or even confirmed by the shows because the amount of changes that have happened in this timeline and in Piltover suggests a much longer period of time than just 3 years. All of the changes line up around the time that Vi died; Zaun looks much too nice and happy for just 3 years of rebuilding, Silco and Vander are together and close again, Silco is close with everyone, everyone is wearing very Piltover esque clothing, Zaun and the enforcers are happily chatting. That doesn’t just happen in 3 years. I think he definitely helped out a lot but I genuinely think Vi’s death probably was the catalyst for being peace between the two cities and independence for Zaun. Vander would’ve immediately demanded justice for Vi’s death, an Undercity child being killed by an explosion caused by a Piltover counselor’s patron would’ve made everyone upset and would give them a reason to make a peace treaty. We literally see the enforcers in the Vi death scene looking really upset and shocked, but also empathetic, Jayce probably got arrested and the counsel made a peace treaty to avoid war
I love that the tainted city reveal has a modulated Arcane theme, just like when Piltover was first revealed in episode one. The creators really know how to self-reference splendidly.
I cried like a little kid with a skinned knee in ep4 when Warwick says Powder, in ep5 at He's your Dad too, and in Ep 6 for Isha. This episode was the most poignant, bittersweet thing they could have done. They took us all out at the knees in 6 just so 7 could show us the importance of 2nd chances, forgiveness, and remind us what it is we are fighting for. I wish we had more time to live in the space of act 2, but I cant deny the brilliance of the writing after watching this episode.
This show has found a lot of novel ways to make me cry. In this episode, it's the bridge scene from Season 1 writ large, the keening pain of what could/should have been.
Anyone else notice that one of the few universes where Zaun is a happy place to live (also not completely destroyed) requires Vi (and presumably Jayce) to be killed in the explosion in the first episode of the series? Two characters who want nothing more than to help other people, and we have *actual evidence* that the world would be a far better place without them. This show was BRUTAL on so many levels.
I assume a lot more had to be different than just Vi dying. Alt Marcus seems more compassionate and chill, Vander and Silco have to make up, the council have to not continue the cycle of oppressing the undercity etc. It’s a world where a lot of stuff had to be different.
Not really what its saying specifically. Its not strictly about their presence. This universe diverges long before that. Silco and Vander reconcile, which meant no shimmer, no Silco weaponizing street kids or trying to undermine Vander, any of the kids could have died in the apartment as its the shock of that death that froze the rest of them long enough to get caught, which meant no enforcer crackdown on undercity, which meant Vanders leadership was never challenged, the death of the kid likely moved Jayce to not pursue his project by breaking into the lab to prototype hextech. And Main universe Heimer showing up, with all his knowledge of how things went before, probably had him more actively helping in Undercity to make things better so the tensions from the main universe never arose. Vi's death was just one difference, not a direct cause. Arcane was always about how everyones actions and inaction feed into creating the world we live in, not just one or two people, and here the choices many, many people made were generally better, and as a result it made for a better world.
I think that's misreading it. I don't think the point is that Vi, specifically, has to die for the "good timeline" to happen, but that if someone dies from his early experiments, Jayce never invents Hextech. The reason it has to be Vi specifically dying in the version of the good timeline we get to see is that the center of the show is the fractured relationship between the two sisters. If we see an AU where they're both alive and happy, that may make for a lighthearted breather episode, but it has nothing to say about the themes of the show. This version - with Powder never really having gotten over her sister's death - speaks not just to where AU Powder's head's at, but also Jinx's in the main timeline. (But it certainly also implies that no matter what, the two sisters may be doomed by fate in some sense.) It's also worth noting that Jayce's timeline is the one where he got everything he ever wanted. Hextech unleashed. Oops.
I actually think Himmerdinger was the differentiating factor. He'd been in that timeline for a very long time, with the knowledge of how things turned out if the Council continued to ignore the Undercity. I imagine more than a little of the prosperity we see was the result of dramatically different policy from Piltover towards Zaun.
When I didn’t see VI around everybody in the bar, I automatically turn into my Girl and said vi better not be dead and she got mad at me so you can imagine what she did to me when we got to that point and I told her babe I didn’t write the show😂😢
I don't think Jayce could've been sent to the timeline Ekko and Heimerdinger were because he's dead. He was going to kill himself after being ousted when the only damage was to a building. If his work killed a kid? He's not gonna stick around long after that
Ekko and Jayce two paths forged by discovery. What could've been- The Boy Savior turned Man Who Shattered Time What cannot be- The Boy Wonder turned Defender of Tomorrow
This was imo the most beautiful yet depressing episode of Arcane. I have yet to recover and it’s everywhere now (TH-cam). The devs made sure the viewers and Jayce experienced hell with this one
The pink strand of hair that Powder has in honor of Vi and the pink nails/make up too. Vander having a "VI" tattoo on his hand. The fact that Vi dying means everyone else lived and most had more happier lives. And that Vander, Powder, and everyone else got to live and be a family without her. And poor Heimerdinger. The hits just keep on coming.
Instantly my favorite episode. Definitely fringe-like, and one of the most positive perspectives on time-travel. The contrast of Ekko's surreal experience to Jayce's hell is pretty great. I love everything about this episode, especially knowing their timeline had a happy ending.
act 3 hurt a lot, and as a league player for a long time who then quit... this show really hit home. i hope to see my favorite characters in the next show.
This episode solidifies why Ekko is the main hero of Arcane. He could have stayed in this timeline and would have lived a better life. However, it would have been at the expense of not only his counterpart, whose body he took over, but at the expense of those he would have left behind. Instead he sacrifices his own personal happiness for the sake of those who need his help.
16:50 oh, sweet summer manchilds. It doesn't feel OK because it's not OK. Because that's what tragedy is. If things were just supposed to be sad they wouldn't be tragic.
Neat little note, the 4 second limit is due to Echo's alt which takes him back 4 seconds, but also that scene with Echo and Powder dancing is made so that it was 4fps :)
Yes hextech makes the hammer lighter. We saw something similar when Vi battled Sevika in episode 9 of season 1 one of her gauntlets lost power and she could no longer lift it.
Some have forgiven Jayce for his attack on Viktor because of what we see in this episode. But, frankly, nobody is giving the man enough credit for simply fucking SURVIVING that reality. He set his own fucking broken leg (probably badly, but still). Jury-rigged a brace out of his hammer. Most of all...somehow made fuckin FIRE in a world that apparently has no wood or anything apparently burnable left. No matter how ya slice it...Jayce deserves some damn credit.
This show leaves a lot for you to wrap your head around, but in the best way. I like stories that don't hold your hand and leave room for you to dig deeper if you want to.
I don't know if I'm alone on this or not, but this episode is my favorite of all episodes. It made me weep, and I never cried in this show otherwise except perhaps a tiny bit in the final episode.
Jinx *Not even existing in this episode* Adam "😠😠😠😠😠😠" Might be one of the few reacters to pop some bubbly if the finale goes a certain way (Preemptive Editors Note I've completed act 3 just keeping things vague for spoilers)
This Universe is happy and health because of Vi death. Had she lived none of that would've happened. Powder realize how dangerous the Hex Stones were and has been hiding them. The Time-Loop is Ekko's move in game,4sec. Silco found Vanders letters in this universe.
I have a HORRIBLE and LIKELY theory. People have been wondering why Ekko and Heimedinger ended up in the same alternate reality, while Jayce didn't. Didn't he thought? We know that Ekko and Heimedinger ended up in the same reality, but at a DIFFERENT time; the parcimony principe would hence push to the conclusion that Jayce had arrived in the same reality, at a different time; probably in the future. But then, if Jayce never invented Hextech in said reality, how would the world end like that? Well, Ekko has shown to Powder how she can use the cristals she has kept since she was a child...
You'd think so, I've seen some people still hating on him because they're still hung up on viktor. And they hate anyone touching their sweet metal hextwink jesus.
They were scatter in time in the same world, its past present future, future is where Jayce was at so we can assume its the same timeline Ekko is in just in the future
I dont think you can assume that? Especially based on the reveal at the final episode of the Robed figure being Victor. One can presume that Victor took Jayce to a specifically bad world whilst the other 2 just went to a random one
I also think Heimerdinger having been to Zaun for some time reevaluated some of the things he did/said in the beginning of season 1 and had a huge part in bringing Zaun and piltover together. He has been there for 3 years when ekko arrived.

But then, if Jayce never invented Hextech in said reality, how would the world end like that? Well, Ekko has shown to Powder how she can use the cristals she has kept since she was a child...
Anyway, here’s Wonderwall.
So it's Vi preventing everyone from having their happy ending :p
14:09 Yes.
Boy, all the people giving Jayce crap last week sure are eating their words now, aren't they?
they still think he's the reason everything was whipped out lmaooooo
You'd think so, I've seen some people still hating on him because they're still hung up on viktor. And they hate anyone touching their sweet metal hextwink jesus.
This was the episode we all deserved after the pain and misery of this series.
Powder still has the Hextech... spin off? Lots of universe building to be had there... 🤷🏽♀️
Cobra Kai?
This is a reverse "It's a Wonderful Life", Vi's death made everything better.
I also think Heimerdinger having been to Zaun for some time reevaluated some of the things he did/said in the beginning of season 1 and had a huge part in bringing Zaun and piltover together.
He has been there for 3 years when ekko arrived.
EKKO IS MY GOAT

Your theory of how it's going to end... We're the last episode gets changed, that's what should have happened!!! That would have been a much more satisfying ending IMP than the ending we actually got... This episode, knowing there's a version of powder and echo that live happily together is the only thing that kept me going at the end of this season
This is the last episode I watch reactions for. I have no interest in seeing people react to 8 & 9. 😅
Isha was terribly handled and it’s ok to admit it
I think you're just upset shes dead lil bro lol
@@HopesBoomerang i think youre too scared to admit arcane could fumble after such a great season 1 lil bro
