Nothing against splits but when life gets busy total body workouts is my go to. I dont do splits anymore.

I’ve recently just started full body splits and I’ve seen more change in my physique.

I prefer full body. I go 3 times a wèek. It allows me to hit all muscle groups at least 3 times a week. Also allows me to get enough rest..

Id love to do 3 full body a week but my schedule won't allow it
When it did id sometimes do 5 full in a week and saw great results
The key was lowering the number of sets dramatically but keep the intensity. Also constantly switching the exercises so the tension hits other parts of the muscle

I like full body workouts most, but to counter the arguement. If you do splits just always pick up where you left off, dont worry about putting everything in a 7 day cycle. Forget monday through sunday, run on waking up and hitting the gym or resting or eating. Which one does your body need. Full body workouts just make that easy to follow. Also start with whats lacking and always build up your weakness's, even in full body workouts.

Lifting at home, not with monster weight. 50 YO male, no major physical /weight issues. I like the idea of 4-5 days a week full body, dumbbells, as long as I drop the intensity and volume. Is that as effective as 3 harder days a week?

If time was not the issue, which would be better?

I think Full body is still the winner because it’s a full body engagement that brings your body in unison

As a correctional officer 👮🏻‍♂️, I cannot emphasize enough the beneficial changes I’ve had switching from a split regimen to a full body regimen. When you’re trying to balance life as a father, husband, public servant, etc. All at once life can get hectic. Especially, when you work as much OT as we do. We have a full gym at my jail, and I make sure that when I’m not able to get in a pump at home, I do so at work; no excuses. My go to at work is bench press (dumbbell or barbell), leg press machine, military press (d-bells or smith machine), squats (d-bells or smith machine), deadlifts (d-bells or barbell) and bent over rows (d-bells or barbell). I usually run a circuit all 6 exercises one after the other (I like to think that my rest period for upper body is while I’m performing the opposite body segment) and after a full completion of all 6 exercises I rest for 2-3 mins. I usually do 3 rounds total

It doesn't matter. Switch it up and do both.
