But your parents are the first example you have of a grown up man or woman. The first example of the other sex. The first time you actually saw another's genitals you probably saw your parent's genitals.

    I completely disagree. Oedipus did not grow up with his mother and his sexual attraction for her (if he ever had any) is completely different.
    If your mother's younger sister (your aunt) or your bio sister or some lady who is not even blood related to you (foster mother), raised you from childhood, you would still have the same view on them as well. It is not a sexual attraction, it is more of trying not to disappoint them. I forgot what the term was for that....

      Thats not the point, Oedipus misconception of his mother's identity gives him a child like ignorance. Just like how he doesn't know his wife is his mother, we at young ages don't fully grasp how wrong it is to be attracted to our mother. When he finds out much like when kids find out their disgusted by their former actions (subconsus thoughts for kids) and it stays with him for the rest of life. it's a metaphore. Everyone knew Oedipus in germany back then, so it was relatable. It was also symbolic of Germany killing it's father ( true Ancient greek philosophy) and banging it mom (creating a highly nationalised version of Ancient greek philosophy)

      It also depends on culture as well. Fathers from the place I grew up at, value their first born son the most. The first born sons are expected to learn their fathers’ trade and continue their legacy. Second sons are to find innovation. Daughters… well they help the mothers until they are married off…
      Other cultures like Chinese even go as far as to abandoning their daughters because each family can only have one child…

    • @guysontop7433
      @guysontop7433 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@panda5996Yea, it is cultural thing. In my culture too, the first born son is supposed to be the successor. There is no need to kill your old man. However, sibling rivalry is common though. But i guess in your culture all the sons in the family have their own roles to play.
      I think Oedipus complex is for only son who is pampered by his mother since childhood. In this case, it is the parents fault for not raising their only son right.

  • @gumzy3000
    @gumzy3000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +157

    I'm not sure I agree with everything Freud stands for but I think there might be some truth to what he says. It's almost universal that moms will have stronger bonds with their sons than daughters. For dads, they tend to have a stronger relationship with their daughters. Maybe humans are just driven to the opposite sex in any way possible? It doesn't have to be as extreme as Freud says (sleeping with your own mom is gross and a very extreme scenario) but it can be in smaller subtle ways. You find the opposite sex attrative because of biology or socialization and that gives boys a chivlarous, almost protective attitude towards thier moms while girls look at thier dads as protectors and providers - qualities most women also look for in a potential husband. People do say men choose wives who are like thier mom unconsioucly and the inverse scenario for women is choosing husbands like thier dad. I definitley think this is true to a degree.
    In the end of the day, Freud was too extreme in his thinking but he was 100% on to SOMETHING.

      There is a gene which code a trait which is why a person finds close relative sexualy unattractive... But feud thoery is for children who didn't even attain thier puberty!! And thier phycosexuality is in development phase!!! Sexuality and min is a important factor for human species its deemed to be complex... And so we all somewhat have suffered from this complex which we cant remembered but helped to develope adult physcosexuality in comolete manner... As we desire Love and affection from our sexual partner modeled after our opposite gender parent. The gene activates during puberty only 🥲😪

      @@panda5996 This is a complete BS. Mothers should have a stronger bond with their daughters and detach from their sons earlier. It has always been like that with humanity and still can be seen within some tribes.
      The father is a non present figure his job is to provide and protect while the mother does the raising. When both reach a certain age the boys are taken by the father to learn "man role duties" while the daughters keep with the mothers helping raising the other children since they will need this knowledge when they become mothers themselves.
      What happened in modern societies is that there was less cooperate and the woman was left alone with the children, they felt self hate for their role as women and started to project on their own daughters while idolizing their sons who were now hitting the puberty but only in touch with their mothers, the emotional incest started.
      All humans first love is their primary caregiver, usually the mother, but women are sexually attracted to men while men can protect their fantasies on women.
      Women bonding more with their sons is not normal.

Also he was among the first to establish the practice of psychoanalysis. Mostly he was first on the scene of introducing the practice of psychology, despite being wrong on too many accounts. Most of his ideas are not academically credible today. This is not a secret. Not what I wanted or planned to come across this morning, but it is so important for humans to understand and face these things so we can someday rise above the base urges that drive much of our motivations;without us being aware most of the time, and become something better stronger than just... our "feelings".

    I agree with Freud, basically I think that your mom, being the first lady in your life greatly effects your development, and you associate femininity automatically with your mother subconsciously. so when you see an attractive lady, chances are she has some features of your mother, mainly hair color and other maternal features.

    I'm not saying everyone has these sexual thoughts about their parents, I think it's more like a vague,
    extremely indirect and unconscious feeling that we grow out of. We didnt know any social constructs or how things work or should work when we wree kids. We are saying now that it's awful (ik it is) when we understand better. It sounds logical to me. But if anyone wants to discuss and talk let's talk

She saw him as an extension of herself. He began to compare me to her, but I'm in no way like her fortunately. She couldn't stand me because I was taking her son away from her in her eyes. She just began criticizing me whenever I was around her. She is an evil woman.

      Edward Finley
      Newton, AFAIK, didn't alter data or even collect them. He derived data mainly from the works of Tycho Brahe and Johann Kepler. Even then, making up data might be more justified in mathematical areas like physics where things are mathematically proven to work in certain ways. i mean, come on! who didn't cheat in physics and chemistry lab exams?
      Needless to say, whether he made shit up or not, his theories were pretty darn accurate and he was a great genius

    Child use mother as sanctuary harbour where find tender response for narcissistic oceanic feelings and expectation and make narcisstic balance.
