I lost a friend back on the 4th. He was a pretty severe alcoholic. He tried to cold turkey hard liquor, and ended in the ICU for a month before the withdrawal took him. You’ll be missed Rob.
LYRICS ATTEMPT: Here's the story of a sinner Who used to be a winner He enjoyed a life of prominence and position But the pressures at the office And the social light engagement And the selfish wife's fanatical ambition. They lead to the booze and he got mixed up with a floozy And she lead him to a life of indecision The floozy made him spend his doe Left him lying on skid row Drunk and something from salvation's ammunition? ( no clue, i tried) Oh what a drag CHORUS: Oh demon alcohol Sad memories I cant recall And who'dve thought that I would fall A slave to demon alcohol Oh demon alcohol Sad memories I cant recall And who'dve thought I would say Dammit all, alcohol Barley wine, pink gin, he'll drink anything Or, you know, tequila, Rum, scotch, vodka on the rocks As long as all his troubles disappear He messed up his life When he beat up his wife And now the floozies gone and found another sucker Shes gonna drive him to the drink Shes gonna lead him to the brink And when his monies gone shes gonna leave him in the gutter Oh what a shame
It’s a Kinks cover, wasn’t hard to find the real lyrics, the chorus is slightly different but everything else is the same. Here is a story about a sinner, He used to be a winner who enjoyed a life of prominence and position, But the pressures at the office and his socialite engagements, And his selfish wife's fanatical ambition, It turned him to the booze, And he got mixed up with a floosie And she led him to a life of indecision. The floosie made him spend his dole She left him lying on Skid Row A drunken lag in some Salvation Army Mission. It's such a shame. Oh demon alcohol, Sad memories I cannot recall, Who thought I would say, Damn it all and blow it all, Oh demon alcohol, Memories I cannot recall, Who thought I would fall a slave to demon alcohol. Barley wine pink gin, He'll drink anything, Port, Pernod or tequila, Rum, scotch, vodka on the rocks, As long as all his troubles disappeared. But he messed up his life and he beat up his wife, And the floosie's gone and found another sucker She's gonna turn him on to drink She's gonna lead him to the brink And when his money's gone, She'll leave him in the gutter, It's such a shame. Oh demon alcohol, Sad memories I cannot recall, Who thought I would fall, A slave to demon alcohol.
here in Maine we raise mice that are used in California for addiction research. They cut the tops of their skulls off and install little brain readers on the mice. They put 3 drops of Vodka directly onto the brains if the mice every day. After 3 generations the mice are born addicted to alcohol, though they've never had a drop. It's a cycle that can be broken, but only through generational abstinence. Encourage your children to avoid drinking; 1 drink is too many and 100 is not enough.
I remember as a kid seeing my mom drunk all the time I'd think that I'd never drink but nowadays it's one of the only things that makes me forget how empty i feel inside
Dude I'm trying too learn this song on chordify but it seems you have an option enabled so that this video can not be played on other websites. Can you Mabey change that please?
Told myself I would drink ANYTHING until my birthday (29/03) but couldn’t resist during today’s town/carnival party. I went a whole day without a sip of beer even though I can barely eat dinner without after doing for the past 5 years.
i love and hate the pure irony, of loving this song. i am an Alcholic, i would never deny it, and bring forced to be sober was hell. here i am listening while drowning for the few days i get to. a slave truly. but oh well ( if this offends or makes anyone uncomfy, my apologies just move on, )

Here's the story of a sinner

And the selfish wife's fanatical ambition.

And she lead him to a life of indecision
The floozy made him spend his doe
Left him lying on skid row
Drunk and something from salvation's ammunition? ( no clue, i tried)
Oh what a drag
CHORUS:
Oh demon alcohol
Sad memories I cant recall
And who'dve thought that I would fall
A slave to demon alcohol
Oh demon alcohol
Sad memories I cant recall
And who'dve thought I would say
Dammit all, alcohol
Barley wine, pink gin, he'll drink anything
Or, you know, tequila,
Rum, scotch, vodka on the rocks
As long as all his troubles disappear
He messed up his life
When he beat up his wife
And now the floozies gone and found another sucker
Shes gonna drive him to the drink
Shes gonna lead him to the brink
And when his monies gone shes gonna leave him in the gutter

Socialite Engagement and his selfish wife's fanatical ambition. Not sure about the salvation part.

Preaching to the choir! Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in my case either.

Can someone please get the chords?? I cannot seem to find them anywhere
Is it just me, or does the way he says, "oh demon alcohol" sound vaguely like part of the phantom of the opera theme song
Fuck, I've been trying to think what it reminds me of, thank you
