Firstly, my thoughts are with our NZ cousins at the moment, and a friend of ours who is visiting there right now. As a Tasmanian I think we have a bit extra in common with our neighbours across the Ditch. Their country is beautiful and quite different, as are their flora and fauna. The people are wonderful and we will be returning for another visit in 2024. Australia will always be home though and it truly is the lucky country in a lot of ways. I think the description of NZ's weather was cool and wet, although cold is right in the alpine regions in winter. Do you think you can say eem-you for emu next video? 😆
Yes, when I moved to Sydney from Hobart, almost the first friendly people I met were from New Zealand, we were small Islanders together with much in common! 🤗

There is a lot of sibling rivalry but when it comes down to it we are there for each other and right now NZ is going through a really tough time, mother nature has hit them hard with flooding and an earthquake at the same time. Love you Kiwi family, praying for you. I would recommend that if you get to visit the great south lands, you visit both Australia and New Zealand, both countries are beautiful. New Zealand is colder because it is further south but they do have warm weather in the summer, Australia also has cold winters especially in the southern states.

New Zealand's temperature doesn't depend on its distance from Australia but its distance from the equator. You can see on the map how far south New Zealand is.
I’m a Brit who has lived in both countries and USA Boston , and would recommend for different reasons .Australia is a huge country and majority of people live on the fringes of the country ,there are many miles travelling to your destination and back and if you except this way of life just like in the US the you will have no difficulty , the North being tropical you have to contend with Humidity ++ where as South of Brisbane it begins a more of a temperate climate mostly lush and green except further west , then down to Sydney hot in summer 28c to 30 with mid range Humidity cold in winter ,Melbourne if your aware the South Pole is not far away I rest my case 🤗but still has hot warm summers , if you like Sun and beaches and a wonderful quiet life and slight isolation but residents don’t notice it as they have everything there then Perth is for you but has 36 c to 40 c summers with slight Humidity , good heath care ,and educational needs 👍social life ,Housing very expensive in inner cities in Australia and prices changes like everywhere .New Zealand is a slower pace of life and has beautiful / spectacular countryside easy to reach and get around like in UK ,Hamilton good place it’s central ,Nelson for the South easy reach of the North Island and the Sounds nearby , healthcare on par with Australia and has a reciprocal agreement and education excellent . So if you want rolling hills ,beaches , high temperatures in the 36 c to 40c in Summer and expectations of travel , and depending on your qualifications and Profession both countries are ripe for the pickings ,BUT if you want Mountains ,lakes , slower pace (but not to much )life style and cooler climate in the 26 c in Summer and getting around the country easier ,then that’s for you to decide ,good luck where ever you go they both have there merits a ton fold 🤗🤷♀️
It is actually pretty close! A flight from Sydney to Auckland is shorter than Sydney to Perth! Also, my heart goes out to all our Kiwi friends at this terrible time 😢
Dear Ryan , Australian here and not keen on this video on which Country is better, Both Countries are fantastic places to live so no losers here and both Australians and New Zealanders are blessed in living in them ,and away from the troubles of Countries above us
I'm Aussie but the Kiwi's have had their stuff together far longer than the rest of the world; they punch above their weight and always win. They invented the Pavlova, they got a treaty happening with the Maori, they gave us chicks the right to vote first in the world, and they invented Chocolate Fish 😍💜
And they voted in a left wing , virtue signalling , maxist to ruin their economy. Before she ran like a rat, leaving burning ship. Biggest mistake NZ ever made.
The federal government estimates about 670,000 New Zealand citizens live in Australia - close to 15 per cent of New Zealand's population. About 70,000 Australians living across the Tasman.6 Nov 2022 nuf said. Peace out.
I'm Australian. One thing I particularly like about NZ is that they have the Treaty of Waitangi and celebrate it on Feb. 6th as Treaty Day. I also love the NZ national anthem, particularly when sung in Maori. It's a hymn by the way ( and I'm notreligious)Together the ANZACS will always stand. I doubt that any outsider, foreigner or tourist will understand the connection. There is no point in making comparisons. Also, there is no hatred between our nation's and never will be!! I, for one, will never forget that NZ sailed the Rainbow Warrior ( until it was sunk by the French, killing the people on board). Now they sail the Sea Shepherd. They are an awesome nation. Stood up to America regarding allowing nuclear subs into their ports. I've never been there but would love to go one day.
As kiwi that lives in Aussie. I'm "Jaffa" kiwi slang for : Just another fucken Aucklander. My heart breaks for my country right now.. but our ANZAC pride and mateship is unbreakable!!! Australia army is already there to help!!! Number of emergency responses land within hours to help!!! To all my friends and whanau ( family) all my aroha ( love)
stay safe NZ ,as an aussie id say this is all to subjective...id move to the North island in a flash. look more into NZ history and culture..i wish for the first Australians to be one day as proud and heard and reconciled as the Maori culture..stay proud both countries, both awesome.
I think both places are great. Plus you can't pick on one of us without the other going RAWR! lol. We're family. I think we're a lucky corner of the world.
Lived in both, we are cousins but Kiwis kick Aussie butts, our embrace of cultures, our amazing diverse landscape and our neighbors make Aotearoa numeral uno.
I live in Auckland, NZ and I was affected by the flooding during late January, and after cleaning up we got hit by the cyclone from earlier this week, fortunately we didn't get flooded the 2nd time but we had to stress and prepare for another disaster, but in saying that a large part of the North Island got hit very hard especially on the East Coast by the cyclone. There has been a lot of ups and downs in terms of politics and safety after Covid, crime rate spiked massively and the recent change in Prime Minister shows the lack of confidence in her leadership, there will be an election coming up later in the year so we'll see what's going to change then. Weather wise we can get around to 30'C (86'F) during summer, sometimes a little more but usually a few days in the 30s in summer period, winter it can be very chilly especially down South, but this summer we had a flip in weather, we haven't had more than 25'C (77'F) up here in Auckland while the South had gotten a couple of 30'C, and we had more wet days than sunny days which is very odd. Also we have a lot of spiders here, or at least where I am, they like to be in the car or house, but they are not venomous (not that I know of), snakes have also been discovered more frequently over the last few years here, probably due to border breach hiking a ride from overseas. I know one thing that Australia is winning over NZ is their tax rates and wages, hence a lot of skilled workers ending up being porched to Australia, not to mention they have better infrastructure and public transportation system (lived in both countries before so I know lol)
We LOVE to hate each other.... because we are best mates. I would be happy to live in either, i'm Aussie but been to NZ many many times. Best wishes and hopes to NZ for a speeding recovery following the cyclone and EQ. P.S. It's an Esky ya wankers
It's just at the beginning of the video. But I've been to NZ and I love it no matter what the out come. It's beautiful and the people I met were just lovely. But in my small humble opinion, you can't beat Aussie Land he he Nahhh we are equally matched! We are related pretty much lol
Why is NZ so much colder? Go back to the map you were looking at in the beginning. Look how far south NZ is, even when compared to Tasmania. Plus it's much smaller than the Australian mainland. The northern part of the North Island has weather more like Sydney in some ways. I've lived in both countries - there are many things I've loved about living in both places. Pluses and minuses about both. The things you said about Australia towards the start apply to Kiwis as well. Differences still exist but you'd probably only notice it if you spent time with both Aussies and Kiwis. Btw - animals and what was said about Australia. Plus you amusement about Emus. You really need to get to know the Kiwi parrot - Kea. They can cause havoc. For example th-cam.com/video/FuA5tO_c7s4/w-d-xo.html
@@lisamorice4701 never actually got to spend time with kea when I lived on the Sth Island. Still hope to, but I'll not bring a car along... Did spend some lovely afternoons with a group of another type parrot Kaka when I stayed on Stewart Island. They reminded me a lot of some Australian parrots. Plus I did get to visit Sirocco who is a celebrity Kākāpō.
I live in a valley at the bottom of the South Island and when Australia was having the bushfires real bad one year we had smoked building up in the valley at night-time that could be attributed to the Australian fires in New South Wales but we do have hot summer's we in drought at the moment in southland
@@haydenkay-s1v yes I've seen how fires in Australia pact NZ - the red skies and smoke that lingers. During the black summer I was back in Australia. Where I live never got fires but we did get cut off at different times and got the smoke from every direction in NSWs. Months of smoke in the air.
@@haydenkay-s1v We were actually on holiday in your part of the world in Nov 2019 when some of those fires were on and yes, the smoke around the Queenstown area for a few days was pretty bad.
I live in New Zealand and all my 5 brothers and one sister moved to Australia and youngest moved to Florida LOL guess that answers your question .. me and my sis stayed in New Zealand because we just are kiwis through and through 🙂🙂
If you say, you would rather scorching hot, you have never lived scorching hot. I mean the roads melt your shoe stick to the roads. You can’t walk without shoes on unless you put water on the footpath before you walk. Scorching hot means the footpath or the road will give your feet blisters. Will give your animals your dog blisters.
Having lived through the Newcastle NSW earthquake I really feel for our Kiwi cousins hope that everyone gets back to normal quickly . Our experience was that the whole nation came together to help those effected and I'm sure that everyone in New Zealand and Australia will be wanting to help in anyway we can .normally with a question like this we would be taking the piss out of each other but we'll save that for another day
I think we are even. I hope they recover from the flooding and the earthquake in New Zealand. They have a beautiful country as we do in Australia. We are just bigger.
Tassie is a state of Australia 😊 Aussie's love Kiwi's, they've had devastating storms and floods right now and an earthquake on. We're all praying for the Kiwi's at this time🙏🌏🪐🌕🙏🐦🇦🇺🇦🇺🌞🥵⛱️🌷🌴🏡🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is fact and you will find this out soon. The ancient civilisation of Lumeria is under the water still existing just to the right of NZ and spreads out in all that open space you see there in your map at 0:57. It's one massive continent, and it will rise again.
NZ and OZ would literally die for each other. But we’d give each other shit none the less 😂🎉 Thoughts are with you kiwi brothers and sisters. I hope aus has sent help (I haven’t watched the news)
As an Aussie, I have always wanted to retire in NZ. I've been over there a lot and love the country, mainly due to the natural beauty, but I also love cold weather. Having said that, we recently moved up to QLD and it is truely beautiful with so much to see and do. I previously lived in South Australia which I love too, but it has a very different beauty. Sending my love, best wishes and prayers to everyone in NZ, I know we have friendly rivalry over sport, but deep down we are family.
Australia and New Zealand are both great and both are usually in the top ten list of whatever of the world. The question of: "which country is better to live?" is a moot point because if you became an Aussie or Kiwi, you literally can live at either country without require any visa (just like EU).
You know you still call the word emu wrong. Just practicing saying eem- u -Emu. Hope to hear from you soon 🌺🦋🌈👍🙏🏻from Edith in cairns Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
I'm Aussie, have a heap of mates in NZ, think of it as my second home. try and get over there twice a year, booked my tickets yesterday for my mates 40th. cant wait to head back.
A famous annual Aussie-Kiwi confrontation is the Bledisloe Cup, the Rugby Union football competition between the NZ 'All Blacks' and the Aussie 'Wallabies' that has been running for over 90 years. When any of the matches in the series are in Sydney, we travel to the stadium by special train (the best way to go). On the way in the Aussie and Kiwi supporters eye each other off. During the match there can be some heated banter. But in the train on the way home, no matter who won, it can be great fun. People toss jokes and mock insults back and forth, laugh and sing together. Another great rivalry is the Australian 'Diamonds" and NZ 'Silver Ferns' netball. Here Aussies are more successful than in the Bledisloe (not hard, given our dismal record), thank goodness. Other great rivalries are in cricket and Rugby League, but at the end of the day, we are family. We have the right to insult each other, but don't let anyone else try it.
Just went to NZ for the first time in January and February. I loved it. The weather was lovely the first week we were there, not so much since. So I think I need to go back in another summer, when we don’t have a La Niña event.
Yep will echo what others have said. New Zealand are our mates without question - it never even occurred to me to wonder which was better. I hope you guys are doing ok over there - some pretty rotten luck.
Cold and wet? Depends on season and where you are. Aotearoa New Zealand has many places where temperatures can exceed the 35 celcius, highest recorded 42 celcius.
My vote goes to cold and wet/snowy but I live in Sydney. In order to avoid the Australian summer I go to Sweden for 3 months each year to enjoy the northern winter!
just to clarify the weather issue for you. because NZ is so much smaller and surrounded by water the temperatures are more mild but the weather patterns move across from Australia to NZ so we benefit from their heat. We also get cold blasts from the Antarctic which Australia might be a little more insulated from. Excluding extremes, NZ temperatures can get as low as -10°C(14°F) in winter and as high as 35°C(95°F) in summer. Aussie probably averages 10-15° more than NZ. I spent 12 years living in Sydney and in general it's much more comfortable in NZ imo
Most of the time half of NZ live here in Australia. No matter what this video says, they are family. We might call them Kiwis and they might call us what they want. If anyone else tries to pick on any of us we will stand together. Right now they are in a State of Emergency and I am praying for them. Now I will watch.
What's funny is the mention of the dangerous animals, they literally show a redback spider, which we have in NZ. I mean they aren't common, but we have them, thanks to Australia lol.
Ryan, just to let you know that one of our free to air channels presented a 1.5 hr special of "some of the best" Hey, Hey, It's Saturday's Red Faces tonight. While watching the ads I noticed that most of the good acts for display were the selection that you had already highlighted. I suspect that gave some television executives some cost effective ideas. Well done! P.s. Red is on quite a few TH-cam videos as bass guitarist with Skyhooks, a very good band from the 1970s. Start with "Women in Uniform" or "Jukebox in Siberia" & see where you end up. I appreciate your channel 🇦🇺
Well that was pointless. There are so many other factors. Aotearoa New Zealand has mind blowing beautiful scenery from golden beaches, tall mountains, rain forests, fjords, thermal areas and provides so much for enjoying the great outdoors. Don't get me wrong I've lived in Aussie for over 10 years when younger and we despite picking on each other are family. Love Aussie too.
Much love to my kiwi brother and sisters in NZ we love you guys. I have travelled there and loved it..and our ANZAC ties will never be broken, if another country picked on NZ I reckon we would go bat shit crazy! Some sports do play in our professional competitions, like in rugby league (which is different than rugby) and in basketball (NBL) and maybe even our netball competition I think. Also Sydney to NZ is shorter in distance than Sydney to perth..
I dont think you can compare because the countries are so different, they both have advantages and disadvantages. I have visited the south island and loved it. With the current situation in NZ atm, we are just hoping for the best for our mates across the ditch.
I'm not to bothered about who is what but I will say a sh*t load of Kiwi's come over here in the thousands and like today we hit 100 F in Melbourne and will again in 3 or 4 day's our weather can be great at times I hope the Kiwi's are okay with the floods and landslides from a cyclone then another massive Earthquake again keep safe all of you
I look at Australia and new zealand as 1 country for some strange reason.Bit like Tasmania is a state but and Island just below us.Correct me if I am wrong but I think Australians can just move over there and live if we want and kiwi's the same here.I have some of kiwi friends and they just seem to island hop ,just come and go when they want live and work here for a couple of years then go home for a bit
Aussie/NZ does the best Fish'n'Chips. We both do the best pies. Aussie does the best coffee - though, parts of NZ are very slowly catching up. Anything else is merely details. But, NZ does punch so far above its weight class in so many fields it's ridiculous. While we may give each other a hard time - you always seeming to cheat Ockers - when the chips are down, we come together like very few (if any) other nations can and do. We have Super 12 rugby. The best of Aussie, NZ and South Africa.
Hi Ryan, this seems like a strange video. There are some elements you can compare, but weather? The top of New Zealand is on the same latitude as Melbourne and a lot of it is parallel to Tasmania, or south of it. A lot of these comparisons seem fundamentally wrong. New Zealand is a BEAUTIFUL country full of BEAUTIFUL people but just because it's mostly south of Australia's mainland is not a point of comparison. Our cousins in New Zealand have just suffered catastrophic weather and now an earthquake and we are feeling for them. Peter.
Hey, Hey was the tic toc of television. I'm 63, but when working out bush, if I wasn't home for red faces, send a search mob. Watched from a child. Still watching it now for real old fashioned Aussie humour. The larrikin in us. You lot are crushed by our lives. We still do it. Just never with oversenitive people.
We have an odd relationship. NZ takes the piss out of us and we also drag them. But the moment another country joins in, we get weirdly protective. We go from gentle bullying NZ to suddenly telling others to leave our cousins across the ditch well alone. ANZAC spirit and all that. My dad was from NZ and the landscapes and people are equally wonderful. So despite being an Aussie, I myself certainly hold affection for NZ. They were supportive of us during the horrendous bushfires and we want to support them during their hard times now also.
I am an Aussie but given that New Zealand just had a huge cyclone followed by a massive 6.1 magnitude Earthquake, I will not get into this debate right now. All I will say is that I hope you are all safe in NZ and doing ok.
Im a kiwi, and ive been stuck in the cyclone and felt the earthquake, it went up to a 6.3 and we still get aftershocks
Cheers and thanks to you, Mate. Much appreciate it.

Live in Australia, and been to New Zealand, they both have wonderful things to see.
Only Argentina is closer to Antarctica than New Zealand followed by Tasmania. So yes Ryan, it get very cold in NZ and Australia too.
It is actually pretty close! A flight from Sydney to Auckland is shorter than Sydney to Perth! Also, my heart goes out to all our Kiwi friends at this terrible time 😢
No shit sherlo$k!, it’s still a long way both trips in reality....
@@thrusta100 a 3 hour flight isn’t considered a long way in the grand scheme of things…
Sounds very woke to me and that's never a good thing.
South Australia actually the first to give women the vote
@@wilhelmredhood7296wrong.... it was NZ... well known fact.... look it up
What giving women the right to vote honouring our native people is woke
Oh bugger me I must be woke .
Not to mention pharlap was born here.
Shame on anyone who has a negative comment on our kiwi mates. Right now New Zealand needs all the positive vibes we can send them.
Australia and New Zealand have the Anzac's. There is no competition.
Except in Rugby Union.
and Netball
As kiwi that lives in Aussie. I'm "Jaffa" kiwi slang for : Just another fucken Aucklander. My heart breaks for my country right now.. but our ANZAC pride and mateship is unbreakable!!! Australia army is already there to help!!! Number of emergency responses land within hours to help!!! To all my friends and whanau ( family) all my aroha ( love)
To my knowledge both countries are beautiful their is no competition
stay safe NZ ,as an aussie id say this is all to subjective...id move to the North
island in a flash. look more into NZ history and culture..i wish for the first Australians to be one day as proud and heard and reconciled as the Maori culture..stay proud both countries, both awesome.

We play AFL in New Zealand once a year for ANZAC Day. We are teaching them the rules.
NZL has multiple weather zones. Cold in the South and wet on the east coast.
But in my small humble opinion, you can't beat Aussie Land he he
Nahhh we are equally matched!
I loved the keas but kept a wary eye on them while stopped in traffic at the Milford Sound tunnel. They can wreak some serious havoc.

This is fact and you will find this out soon. The ancient civilisation of Lumeria is under the water still existing just to the right of NZ and spreads out in all that open space you see there in your map at 0:57. It's one massive continent, and it will rise again.
"Cold" is relative, NZ is more temperate oceanic, and not as cold as US

NZ and OZ would literally die for each other. But we’d give each other shit none the less 😂🎉

Australia has offered help at NZ request. NZ only formally requested aid yesterday, and we are currently in discussions to provide whatever they need.

Sending my love, best wishes and prayers to everyone in NZ, I know we have friendly rivalry over sport, but deep down we are family.
i know why Red Faces flagged your vids, its coming back onto TV as highlights, on tonight (about an hour from now)
Appreciate the mention for that... got it set to record now
Australia and New Zealand are both great and both are usually in the top ten list of whatever of the world. The question of: "which country is better to live?" is a moot point because if you became an Aussie or Kiwi, you literally can live at either country without require any visa (just like EU).
Nah mate new Zealand is our sister country we would stick together through thick and thin and accept each other's accomplishments and disappointments

I'm Aussie, have a heap of mates in NZ, think of it as my second home. try and get over there twice a year, booked my tickets yesterday for my mates 40th. cant wait to head back.
We love our Kiwi cuzzies. Indian outsiders don't get to judge us.
The weather is not bad in New Zealand
Nah, they are both great countries! NZ is only one of 2 places overseas that I have thought "I'd love to live here" the other being Canada
We think of New Zealand people as our cousin’s.
I hope all in New Zealand are safe.
I hope you guys over in NZ are doing ok and remember: it will get better soon❤️
I Am Aussie background is Bengali
just to clarify the weather issue for you. because NZ is so much smaller and surrounded by water the temperatures are more mild but the weather patterns move across from Australia to NZ so we benefit from their heat.
I was in the south Island of NZ .Its a beautiful place and the people are lovely .Its abit like what Canada is to the USA
I'm german and I went to both. I think New Zealand is more interesting.
It's always a subjective thing, but can I ask how extensively you travelled in each country @krakentoast?
@@lisamorice4701 I travelled in each country for two months.
Just want too give you how to pronounce EMU. is EM-U. Not EMOO
With
the current situation in NZ atm, we are just hoping for the best for our mates across the ditch.
I'm not to bothered about who is what but I will say a sh*t load of Kiwi's come over here in the thousands and like today we hit 100 F in Melbourne and will again in 3 or 4 day's our weather can be great at times I hope the Kiwi's are okay with the floods and landslides from a cyclone then another massive Earthquake again keep safe all of you
Australia has a tonne of New Zealanders living here so I dare say that Australia is far better ..! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍🏼
Given over 530,00 people or 10% of NZ population live permanently in Australia how happy are they exactly
Peter.
Aussies joke that NZ is our 7th State and Kiwi's joke that OZ is their West Island. 🇦🇺🇳🇿 Brotherly Love/Sibling Rivalry.❤
Thanks for saying new zealand better than half our politicians
Why does either one have to be ‘better’ than the other? Based on which criteria?
They stated the criteria. Development, weather, happiness, corruption.
But I do agree that one doesn't have to be "better" than the other, I think this whole video was silly to be honest, and bad timing for NZ
There is no difference between Australia and New Zealand 🇦🇺🇳🇿 Australia and New Zealand are my favorite country.
