I still support President Biden and it's not because I like Biden, but because I care about my future as an American. Objectively, none of us will survive under tyranny of a second Trump presidency because of the threat of Project 2025 by the Heritage Foundation, if Donald Trump is re-elected. I think Biden has been a great president, but I don't think he can win. He's behind in the polls, and it's getting worse. His cognitive abilities do seem to be in decline. I've gone back and looked at some of his interviews and speeches from 2020 and it's clearly a different level of performance. I admired Nancy Pelosi for what she did: not only did she step down, but she prepared her succession and passed the torch to a brilliant young leader. When he launched his campaign, Joe Biden promised he'd be a one-term president to defuse concerns about his age, but then picked one of the most unpopular primary candidates as his VP and hasn't given her a chance to shine or prove she can take over, like he never intended to step down. In the swing states it is not a few million voters, it is a few thousand voters that will determine the electoral college vote which they did in both 2016 and 2020.

I admired Nancy Pelosi for what she did: not only did she step down, but she prepared her succession and passed the torch to a brilliant young leader. When he launched his campaign, Joe Biden promised he'd be a one-term president to defuse concerns about his age, but then picked one of the most unpopular primary candidates as his VP and hasn't given her a chance to shine or prove she can take over, like he never intended to step down. He drove his party into this corner.
Biden said "transitional". That could mean one or two terms, after which a new generation of leadership would emerge. If you think I'm wrong, cite him saying one term. No candidate would do that as he'd be a lame-duck immediately on taking office.
@@emsleywyatt3400 There are several articles from Dec. 2019 that quote him saying he'd be a one-term president. Look them up. Being on your last term is not a lame duck term, on the contrary. There is power in not having to campaign for reelection. Most presidents got way more of their agenda done in their second term than in their first because they don't care about being re-elected.
For the record, Biden did not promise only one term. What you are referring to is a conversation in the Westwing re: this topic between staffers. Biden said, "Let's think about it." A staffer in the room past that on to a friend in the press (maybe at a night spot frequented by staffers and the press) and then the story became "Biden said...."

The only non-denial denial was through a tweet from his deputy campaign manager Kate Beddingfield, saying that it was "not a conversation that our campaign is having and not something VP Biden is thinking about". It was a very politician thing to do: hint at something that helps you and never correct it or explicitly state things either way for plausible deniability. And it was not a "staffer" who "slipped that to the press" like it was page 6 gossip, all articles quoted the source as "a prominent advisor" saying it explicitly on the record. So people were basically tricked into believing it and then, once he was inaugurated, Biden said explicitly he expected to run for reelection.

It wasn’t about he had a bad debate, anyone can have a rough day, this was and is an issue about his state of mind and his ability to control the room in tense situations. He needs to step down. Biden solving issues, talking to foreign powers, keeping us out of war, etc. is flat out scary right now. Put another candidate in there. It’s very sad watching him speak in public. When was the last time anyone saw him take open questions from reporters for more than 5 mins. Political differences aside… he just needs to retire before more people get killed.

If you’re still voting for biden, fine. But keep in mind that only several swing states and a couple million independent votes could make this either way. So if you despise everything on the Right, you might want to consider a candidate who isn’t throwing those voters into a panic.
In the swing states it is not a few million voters, it is a few thousand voters that will determine the electoral college vote which they did in both 2016 and 2020.

Because Trump didn't display new behavior, he is continuing to do the same thing we have all observed for the past several years. Biden on the other hand just displayed a level of shocking cognitive decline that the White House has been denying. The concern is only partially about how incompetent both of these men are, it is about the trust we lost in the Democratic establishment.
