I just purchased a 1 bedroom condo that came with this super small capacity 80's style machine with a tub washer on the bottom and a dryer on top - all crammed into this tiny little laundry closet off the kitchen. The WashTower was my saving grace. Not only is this thing a normal capacity washer / dryer but its the same footprint (just a little taller) then that old 80's style machine. It was literally a drop in replacement and I was good to go. ^_^
I just purchased this unit, used for $1000 (a steal). In order to transport it, we broke the two machines apart. There are two small hatches on each side of the middle control panel, flip those latches, and remove the screws. You can then pop the control panel off which will have the control wire to the washer and dryer, carefully remove those. You then have one screw on each side of the front. It becomes fairly obvious which screw is connecting the bottom unit to the top unit if you look at it closely. Remove these two screws. You then need to take off the plastic bracket that also connects both units together located on the back of the unit. Once you do this, remove the bracket and with the help of a friend you’ll need to slide and tilt the top unit to get it disconnected from the front area where it is connected to the washer. We had the unit separated in less than 4 minutes. I am hoping that this means you can purchase the units separately if one dies but washer/driers typically have parts that are used across many different brands and models. The bottom line is that this unit IS just as serviceable as any other separate washer/dryer units.
Thanks! I’ve heard this from a couple of other viewers now as well. My personal experience was my unit came fully assembled, and was only moved by the delivery crew as a single piece.
I bought this unit about six months ago and really love it. That is, except for the App. It took me 4 HOURS to get the dryer to sync with my phone, and then another 30 minutes to get it to recognize my wifi network. Is there some secret handshake that I need to do to make this work better? I don't know what I did differently the 95th time I tried to sync that actually made it work. I recently upgraded my wifi network so now I need to do this again. Any input you can give would be greatly appreciated. I've read the instructions, looked at YT videos, and everything else I can think of, but it seems like the instructions are missing 1 or 2 steps between "connect your phone to the dryer" and "after the dryer is connected".
So sorry you’re dealing with this!! The app can be clumsy sometimes, I honestly feel it was more stable and reliable to use back when I first got this unit versus how it is now.
My 6yr old washer said goodbye today. While my dryer is on its way out, I figured it's time to shop. I just bought the middle tier version for $1200 USD brand new, due to a cosmetic defect (small scratch on the left side) I couldnt pass up the discount. Came out to $1400 with an extended warranty, taxes an delivery.
Yes, I’m definitely still liking it! As far as dry level and wrinkling - that’s totally dependant on the wash mode you use (and this unit has a LOT of them). If you run a general wash cycle, it does a very good job of getting most of the water out, and as long as you get your laundry out fairly quickly, wrinkling is a non-issue.
@@ADesignersLife The 100 model was more than the 200 , no brainer . Took about 6 weeks to get it but I wasn't in a rush ! Love it but Home Depot delivery service is realy bad !
I got mine from Home Depot as well, they cracked one of the new tiles we had put down in the laundry area when delivering the unit... lol. It was a quick replacement but definitely not the "best" delivery experience for me either.
Great video! We are going to purchase this unit and need to know how many inches from the floor does the dryer hose/vent hole start.... I have a very tight area and want to make the connection recessed into the wall and directly behind the unit or just slightly above. I have called the manufacturer and no one can tell me this measurement. Do you happen to know? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, now that the unit is tucked into the cabinet in our room, I can’t make this measurement out any longer either - sorry!!
You can press and hold down the Extra Rinse or the Reduce Static/Wrinkle Care setting button for a few seconds to turn the sounds off completely. I don't think there's a way to adjust the sound volumes, just to mute and unmute them completely.
I have had my wash tower since Jan. 17th. The DRYER has failed to work / heat since installed. Filed complaint on the 18th....LG has FAILED to fix, replace or refund this unit. LG has FAILED in customer service.
I just got this recently. When I use the steam fresh cycle on my dryer. The cycle is 10 mins, every time after 2 min, my phone will get a notification that said "WashTower's dryer has been stopped due to a problem". However, I walk to dryer and it's running as normal and it didn't stop. There's no error code or anything on the until. It finish the 10 min cycle every time. I submitted support ticket, after back and forth communication, they told me it's the app? They told me to delete app data and try again. I deleted the app and reinstall, however the strange notification still comes in every time.Anyone has this problem? Can someone try they steam fresh cycle when connected to wifi and app?
Sorry you’re dealing with this - the app can be a bit clumsy sometimes, on my end too. I get the occasional error message too but the unit keeps on going.
With all the work that went into that, it's a bit mystifying why that unsightly yellow electrical outlet with the super tight electric cord plugged into it was carved in plain sight thru the marble hexagon backsplash instead of being put out-of-sight on the wall behind the dryer gap...
Hi! Thanks for your comment :) first, we replaced the cover and plug after this video was recorded. Secondly: my home is a townhouse with concrete barrier walls between the units. As such, moving the electrical without adding some sort of false wall to cover the box would have been very difficult to do. I agree it’s not the best spot for it, but we had to work within the constraints of the house!
Hi, does the delivery charge include moving into a basement or second floor even with this 300+ lb machine? I’m seriously considering buying this because other nice stacking sets are not cheaper than this.
Hi Agnes: I ordered mine here in Canada through the Home Depot. The installation cost covered them bringing it into my basement, sliding it into position, and plugging it in, and installing the water lines. I thought it was well worth the money!
Hi Frank - the units themselves can be serviced independently; just pull it away from the wall, do the work on the back, and get back into service. Now, if one part of the control panel goes out - you need an entirely new control panel (and it's a pricey part, no doubt about it). There's pros and cons to this unit, and others like it; I don't have a good back and my girlfriend would be too short to reach the controls if we went for a traditional stacked setup, so it works for us. Long term, it could be expensive to repair - but we purchased the extended warranty to help with that, just in case.
Thanks for watching! I’ve heard that the whole panel would need replacing if it died but not the entire unit. Luckily I bought extended warranty with this though which covers everything!!
If the panel were to quit working, it would take about two minutes to replace it. This machine is very serviceable when it comes to how easy it is to remove the panel. It even looks as if it would be fairly simple to replace either the dryer or washer board Independent of each other. However, it would probably be just as easy to purchase the whole panel and perform the two minute swap out.
Honestly, it works out kind of well - if we reversed the doors they would open into the wall my walk out to my backyard is on, whereas now we can swing them pretty far open towards the counter space.
Primarily - it's just due to how much stuff is going on in these units. They're a normal washer / dryer but also features the steam wash cycles (and all the hardware to power that), as well as having a centralized control panel to manage both units in one. I'm sure with time the cost will come down!
Hi, I´m in LatAm and got one of these end of 2023. Noticed LG aligned internationally to US BlackFriday prices on this specific season, both in its own website and other retailers (not sure about Canada, but in a few countries quite far from US). In some groups I read similiar situation happened during the US Tax Holidays/events related to energy efficient appliances. My ticket was -45% vs. current price.
Actually, I'm okay with it on the right - on the left side it would've opened into the wall, plus my water lines and drain are on the left side of the space, which would have resulted in a lot more work to update it.
Come on. Let's be honest, touch capacitant buttons are horrible.. it sucks that we have to use our phone for other wash cycles that should be on the washer. I have this washer and honestly, it does a great job washing but the interface is nothing but garbish. I rather go back with my old school washing machine. Old school mechanical clicky buttons that gave me the freedom to control the water level and temperature. These new washers micromanage every droplet of water which extends the wash time.. And the no, turbo wash is not going to help you..Its nothing but a false gimmick... Just by raising the temperature of the water, you will be punished with an additional 30 minutes of wash time. It's ridiculous.
Thanks for watching and sharing - I can definitely see both sides of the argument regarding the cycles and having to control from your phone. I don't mind the buttons though, I've never had any issues getting them to respond or anything like that!

Liked your laundry renovation + thx for the washer review

INCORRECT! The unit DOES come apart in TWO pieces. Mine was brought up two flights, each piece separately and then bolted together once inside.

Exactly. I’m like what’s is he talking about he’s also wrong on the weight. I immediately stopped watching after that
It does separate for transport and repairs if needed

Looks great - Can you have the washer and dryer running at the same time in this unit?
Thanks! And yes - both can run at the same time.
Can you show me how to turn the control lock off so I can turn on tub clean?
Thank you
I think you just need to press and hold the “extra rinse” button for 5 seconds to disable it? Hopefully that helps! 🤞🏻
You should switch the doors to open the other way
Thanks! We are considering it :)

Is this is electric? What type of plug?
Yes, it’s electric! It requires a traditional dryer plug and an additional 120V 3 prong plug (which supplies power for the washer portion).
