Great educator. I wish there was more on philosophy, he sure puts it more clearly across than most I've ever seen. He has a gift for elucidating and teaching.

In college I did a report on a book called "Jesus Before Christianity," by someone named Nolan (I don't remember the author's first name.) Did Jesus expect all that would happen after his crucifixion? Did He know what would be done in His name throughout all of the centuries? I think that when He spoke to certain apostles privately and described the signs concerning His Second Coming and the end of the Age is what He expected mostly to happen in these days. This is found in Matthew, chapter 24. Personally, I believe that His first life, if studied in this light, i.e. his rejection and crucifixion, all pointed to His Second Coming, both as a light unto both Jews and Gentiles. So much has happened to people in Jesus' name makes it difficult to retain faith.

About to start the 15 hour course. You asked what I believe is christ. Honestly. I believe Christ is a title. Actually I believe that it's actually Chrestos which was later changed by some scribe to Christos (seen the edit under UV light in person) I think the banning of poetry (true poetry) that these people were with the wisdom and with the christ. You can see Sophist, Statesmen, and republic (it's a trial for the imitators) You can see this when they make the decision to ban poetry. See The defense of Posies by Sir Phillip...
This is what I believe the words Christ. Not to mention that most if not all of our traditions come from pagan lore. I think the Bible is the most important book of all time but only for those that know how to read it though. Loooking forward to completing your course and thank you so much!

    Man began by sinning, forcing God to curse Paradise;
Then God (Christ), who had nothing to do with our sin, came to save us so that we could live again in Paradise.
And what have we done to be worthy of enjoying the delights of Paradise?
There is something in this story that lacks logic, coherence...

If the hypostatic union is correct, and there is no division between the human nature and divine nature in Christ, then he should have known the time of his return, which he said he didn't know. But Scripture shows us he was indeed God in the flesh, the Logos (Word) made into a man. But "being found in the form of a man" meant he no longer had his miraculous attributes of deity. That would mean Chalcedon was wrong. In fact, Jesus states that his miracles were from the Father, who was in him and he in the Father. That would mean he still had the spiritual identity as the Word of God, but now made a man, doing miracles by the Holy Spirit, the Father dwelling in him. So he was and always is divinity.

hi, father jayme. one can really see the neo-platonic influence on early christian thinkers. god is a 'good'-god ; a 'personal'-god. he enjoys inter-acting with us. not like Aristotle's cold, non-caring 'unmoved-mover'. 'now' I understand why they're called 'neo-platonists', and not 'neo-aristotelianists' lol...however, I 'am' aware that there 'was' some Aristotelian influence early on. didn't Aristotle have more influence on protestantism ?

Actually catholic doctrines can trace its roots back to Aristotle. Many of Thomas aquinas teachings are influenced by Aristotle. Many catholic doctrines are based on thomistic teachings. One example is divine simplicity and even the presence of jesus in the eucharist. So.. it seems to me that catholic doctrines share aristotelian teachings. Not necessarily protestants. Although many protestants believe in Divine simplicity.

First, there was a fallacy made during this lecture. Let me point it out. The term "Christ" is indeed equivalent to the term "Messiah", but since the Torah as a whole, and at many points delivers the message of pure Monotheism the idea of the Messiah was never one of God incarnate. The Torah never even made explicit that the Messiah would be a word of the Diety made incarnate.
Therefore, there is such a thing as A MEDIUM CHRISTOLOGY. Christ was A WORD that proceeded from the Diety, and through the Holy Spirit was communicated to Marry. And, there communicated to the pure womb of Marry - the word became flesh. This is why he is the 2nd Adam, because his being is wholly an act of the Deity not the begetting of a fallen man.
Why did this happen? For the Justification of the earth at his 2nd coming which required a new word from God, and could not be accomplished at the had of fallen men.
Muslims have A MEDIUM CHRISTOLOGY. Jews have a degratory Christology. Read what it says about Jesus in the Talmud. Why do Christians befriend Jews, over Muslims? Because, A MEDIUM CHRISTOLOGY is the Truth.
Every word of the Torah was a word spoken by the Deity. Christ was A WORD incarnate not just another Prophet. But, he was not the Deity, Himself.

Power over nature? Or knowledge of nature? Or would they have made such a distinction? Would they have considered knowledge of nature to be power over nature? If people study the tides, they can predict when such an exodus would be quickly followed by high tides. Those who do not study tides would likely see them as random events. And if they consider them random events, then a group of people who SEEM to be able to predict such movements of tides would SEEM to have god on their side. Walking on water is not the least bit impressive if done on ice. But again, people who live in the middle east could live their entire lives without ever seeing the phenomenon of frozen water.

I did not follow how the Massiah is a Savior. I am not saying that they cannot be the same person, God or entity, I just missed how they have to be the same.
A Messiah is an anointed subject. Anointment being a ritual devised to bestow royal expectations. The Jews were expecting such a political force to release them from the Roman oppression. It is evident that Jesus took up this role and made it his own. The Romans took offense and showed him in no uncertain terms what they thought about his proposition. It is not a divine title. God works in mysterious ways and even a CEO, a pope or a president can be a Messiah.
Jesus may have referred to the Savior as the "son of man" - a man like divine entity expected by the Jews as a Savior - a divine catalyst sent by God to terminate this Kingdom and establish His.
The new Kingdom would need a new King; the Messiah, but the Messiah and the Son of Man, could have been different entities. The Jews probably distinguished between them, otherwise why bother with two terms.
Jesus described himself as the Christ
Jesus described himself as the "Son of Man"
Jesus described himself as "Son of God"
    Jesus described himself as divine
Who do we think he was? On what shall we base our conclusions? As Catholics we embrace them all as they are not incoherent. However, In accepting one title, do we exclude some important elements of His nature? Jesus seems to apply logic in his preaches, yet he was not so clear in regard to his definition. Why did He take up a title that does not totally fulfill his role? If I were a thief, would it be acceptable to say that "I take care of items neglected by their owners". Was he too busy being of service to others? Did He emphasis on his nature? And finally, is the Church so infatuated by his divinity that it is relegating His message?

+Chris Abela You badly need to study the OT and see how every book of the OT points to Jesus, He,s the HIGH PRIEST, THE ANOINTED ONE ( MESSIAH), which can only be done with blessed oil, chrism, So a ceo or presedint cant be a mesiah in the sence of the word in Christianity / judism, which is whats been spoken about here.. He,s also the Lamb of God, the sacrificial Lamb. No evidence will be enough for non believers, nothing will Change the mind of the believer-i promise you that you will receive the Grace from God to turn to him as i am going to Dedicate the mass to you this morning and pray for your conversion....God Bless

Thank You for the prayers. I will reciprocate them.
I confess that I have very little faith in the OT. I consider it as a book by the Jews, on the Jews, for the Jews.I have only respect for the people themselves but I am not a Jew and I cannot identify with the OT .
Actually the only relevance the OT has to me is as a verbose prelude to Jesus.
I challenge to the haughty phrase "No evidence will be enough for non believers, nothing will Change the mind of the believer".
Evidence has to be reproducible in a laboratory. It is not a matter of "enough" evidence as there is a clear criterion that needs to be met. There is either evidence or there is none, and currently there is none.
Clearly there are a lot of people who turned to faith (typically in crises) and others who turned away from faith (usually in times of prosperity and peace). I respect them all and rebuke no-one.
      God Bless You too.

Jesus said He was the Son of Man prophecised by the Prophet Daniel. The Son of Man was to have an eschatological role in fulfilling the end-times so the kingdom of heaven could arrive here on earth. This was fulfilled in 70 AD at the destruction and judgement of apostate Old Covenant Jerusalem. The end-times of the Old Covenant era were fulfilled and the kingdom of heaven, or the Body of Christ (the New Covenant Church) was consummated. We are now in the New Heavens and Earth or Christ's kingdom which is eternal.

@@KyleInOklahoma have you heard of Muhammad? Why ignore such a man? In this time and age, for all the countless lost souls who are struggling through pain and the wilderness of confusion and the unsatisfactory explanations and contradictions of Christianity, here is the man, the prophet, the messiah who came to set the record straight and erase all confusion that was and still is abound, for many centuries, in the Christian's confused, misinformed, (albeit with well intention,) understanding of the nature of Jesus. He set the record straight and erased all confusion for whoever is seeking the truth. Jesus, he said, was a man, a mortal, a messanger from God(Allah) , a prophet from Allah, as is Mosea as is Ibrahim, as is David, as is Solomon, as ii Noah, as is Muhammad. All sent by the same God, with the same message throughout different times to guide lost and searching souls to the right path. All these nessangers delivered the same message, a consistent message that explains why we are here on earth, what is the meaning and purpose of what we experience during our life on this earth, what is expected of us to do in order to navigate the trials and tribulations of life and the end come out victorious, not loosers. These prophets possessed the light and the knowledge from God and their life was a shining example and a workbook for the message they faithfully carried and fulfilled while they were alife . Jesus surely has miracles of supernatural nature, so did other prophets of God, his birth was surely a miracle, and that's where the confusion lie : instead of attributing these miracles to the creator ~who gave these miracles to his prophets at a time of his choosing and according to his all encompassing wisdom, when deemed necessary to the conveyance of his message ~ the early Christians wrongly concluded that Jesus is a divine and this wrong conclusion created a lot of confusion and a lot of discords in early churches that took centuries of debates and arguments to settle and we clearly see that it never been fully settled or understood up to our time, why? because it was based on falsehood which is the opposite of the truth that Jesus was a man a mortal chosen by God and given certain miracles to help him along the way, but not God himself by false human logic and deduction. If we apply this logic on Adam, he would be equally divine if not more divine due to the fact that that his birth was more miraculous than Jesus's birth, as he was created from no mother or father. For all the Christians who are confused and still looking for answers that satisfy their mind and soul, I urge you to look into Muhammad's life and message independently and sincerely without buying into the nowadays false and misleading media hype and misinformation . The truth is there to be found.

There is no such thing as “Christology”! There is only “Introduction to Christology”! Why?
Because information that is too fundamental for understanding Christ is completely ignored by Christology! In fact, Christ himself warned his disciples: “I still had many things to tell you but you would not be able to bear them”!! This information was so important that it would even cause disturbance for those who learned about it! Seems logical, doesn't it?

Jew is an ethnicity and culture as well as a religion. Go back to the first century and see the house-churches, say, in Capernaum (the House of Peter, for example), or James the Just, Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and almost all of Jesus' disciples during his lifetime. This is a cultural distinction when we compare the first Christians (i.e., Jews) to the bulk of later Christians, Greek (culture) Christians. So, yes, Virginia, there are Jews for Jesus.

Christos is Greek. Mashiach is Hebrew. They mean "Anointed". Not divine. Not his last name. Not consubstantial. Not get it right next time. Not expected to be crucified nor to be resurrected in 3 days. The resurrection was supposed to be a general resurrection and judgement. Not a wafer of unleavened bread god. Not atonement/justification. Not wine into blood. Where's the universal peace the Mashiach was to usher into the world? It's not here! Where's the kingdom of God? He and Paul claimed it was immanent. It didn't happen!

This is sad, such energy and great ideas to do, but there is another agenda behind this series of lectures and it will become obvious soon enough to anyone who listens. This is sadly insidious. The Good Shepherd does not mislead the sheep but brings them to green pastures. Truth exists and cannot be relativised away, no matter how attractive you make it sound. Check the credentials of this Church before taking this for authentic Catholic teaching.
