I remember these growing up poor in the housing projects, my mom never bought me one, but a lot of kids had these including that Green Lantern type Big Wheel that was a Beats back then. The Big Wheels use to be a (2 Kid Vehicle) back then, well there would be the one in the seat pedaling, and another kid on the back pushing with his foot giving it more speed...man we had so much fun back then...even growing up poor too.
Awesome presentation and content! LOVE what you are doing! What a fun trip back in time to my childhood! I have never had a Big Wheel but a kid down the street did! You could hear that thing all up and down the block. ESPECIALLY when he yoinked that brake!
@@SeizethePlay I had plenty of big wheel's growing up but never the green machine by Marx until now since I recently purchased a huffy green machine and at 47 I can actually fit on and ride the thing. The original big wheel of course has since been replaced by the more modern drift trike consisting of a steel frame and fork assembly, 20 inch bike tire in the front and plastic rear wheels with Razor making the DXT drift trike which I recently purchased as well which is great fun to ride and gives you a good workout in the process. I still remember having the Marx champion cycle version that I got for my 7th birthday way back in the fall of 1980.
I JUST missed the Big Wheel craze by, maybe a year or two? But they were everywhere and do noisy!! Not only were the rear wheels noisy on the sidewalk, I think they had this spring that would thrum across "spokes" on the inner part of the rear wheel and make even more racket! Ugh! I had a real tricycle and then got a 1972 Schwinn Apple Krate. Both made of steel!!!
I remember the Big Wheels were mostly plastic, the only metal I remember on them was the Bar Shaft that linked the 2 rear wheels and the pedal part for the big wheel where you pedal. After this, then came the BMX Bikes, like Mongoose, now that was when I was a teenager in the early 80s ..we use to make ramps using cement blocks, and plywood boards, ..and sometimes cr tires as a base for the ramps..seeing who could jump the highest...man we did some far out shit back them...fun though.
I got one in 1974 , I was 6 ,was monumental moment as a kid that’s forever etched in my memory .

I've seen ads that say that a Big Wheel has a safer center of gravity and safer turns than a traditional tricycle.
I tried to flip mine everyday for an entire summer and couldn’t do it!
I remember all the little bad ass kids having one growing up, shit i was one of them 🤣🤣🤣
I had big wheel just like this one, back in 1978. was just 5 years old. Unfortunately, about 3 years later, someone stole it from my front yard.
Noooooo! Sorry to hear that, Paul. Thanks for watching
Just bought a big wheel . To big to ride it but had to have it when I saw . It My most beloved bike out of all my bikes.
Have fun!
I rode my big wheel till the front tire got a flat spot on it from braking. Kept on riding it. I still miss it.
