I’m a manager in an Aldi and I thought I would clear up a few things.
    1) the reason why there’s no music unlike other supermarkets is because Aldi will need to spend money purchasing the rights for the music which they consider and unnecessary cost. The savings in things like this is put into the prices of the products instead which is why things are so cheaper for the customer.
    2) also Aldi don’t want customers lingering around. Things such as music get people too relaxed. Aldi want customers in and out as quickly as possible to get more people in
    3) wine of the week is all year round. The wine of the week deal changes every Monday

Maybe you could clear up why your stores are selling dairy products laced with Bovaer, and don't tell me it is safe and effective we heard that same old rubbish in 2021, see how that turned out, i contacted your head office asking for the safety data and the testing mechanism but silence from your company, you will end up like all thee other woke companies, bankrupt, you are also discriminating against Blind people where they now have to wait for someone to help them checkout their shopping with your self checkout machines, in one case an elderly blind man had to wait for 45mins for help, shame on you all.

I live 3 minutes from an Aldi, so I shop there a lot. Just after Christmas I bought a big haul of all their Christmas food with massive discounts, so I'm spending January eating stollen, chocolate marzipan, Christmas crisps and other treats. I paid next to nothing for them. I'm also hibernating with some good films. January doesn't have to be crap, just extend Christmas for a whole month. I never follow the rules. The diet starts March.

I love that they don’t have music on, it’s less stressful and I’m less likely to get overstimulated. The music was so loud in Morrisons the other day that my husband got really overstimulated. (I had to explain to him what he was feeling as he’d never felt that before). I’ve noticed that most people are more calm and are more polite while shopping without music. I do wonder if they notice it in themselves.

Lovely Hannah, great to see you visit Aldi. The London stores certainly have more than us provincials. I have been an Aldi shopper for 30 years and have seen many changes in the products and the way you can shop. In the old days, cashiers had to memorise the prices, only your own bags and cash only. Aldi certainly makes a pension go further and lovely to buy British meat and support our farmers. I enjoy all your vlogs from afternoon tea to walks round London. It's like having you pop round for a chat and a drink, many thanks for yet another great year. Onwards and upwards ❤❤

I'm currently in New Zealand and I can't believe how low these prices are compared to what you would pay here. Many of the products shown would be 2 - 3 times more expensive. When you consider how efficient farming is in NZ to the point that 80% - 90% of all agricultural products are exported, it's madness. What's particularly galling is when I see NZ produced food being sold in mainstream London supermarkets (i.e. Sainsbury's, Waitrose etc) for 30% or even 50% less than what one would pay in an NZ supermarket located in the region that the food was actually grown and processed. No VAT on food in the UK has a part to play in this (there is a 15% tax on food in NZ) but a bigger issue is a lack of competition in the supermarket trade in NZ; there are multiple brands but in reality only two players.

Apparently, some people have seen Waitrose labels under Aldi labels. Also, the first time I went into Aldi many years ago, it was before Christmas , I was very wary of buying stuff for Christmas, just incase....... I was looking in the freezers, pondering if I should risk buying Christmas food so asked an assistant if the food was any good. She said that the same companies that supply Aldi also supply Waitrose and Marks and Spencers. I once bought the bargain chicken from my local Sainsbury's and it was full of bubbles inside. Someone said that they injected it with something to increase the weight. As did the company that sold those turkey roasts years ago. Bernard Matthews I think. Some fresh stuff is better in some Aldis than others eg salad, but it's then due to the management in the store. I've no complaints. The bonus is NO MUSIC😂

I don’t shop at ours because there’s always such a long line , they did remodel it but I haven’t been in it since they remodeled it , but I hope they put a self check out for 12 items or less ! They have nice flowers at ours, and good chocolate , I actually bought a sewing basket from there and I’ve had it for 4 or 5 years now , I only went there for my dad who just turned 97 on December 6th , but as of April he’s been a nursing home!! Miss taking my dad shopping at his age tv and food were his only enjoyments in life ! Now he eats puréed food and some really soft food we bring in ! It’s wasn’t a very merry Christmas this year with out him , so thanks you for taking us on a beautiful tour if London at Christmas it lifted my spirits ❤ So I just shop at our local grocery store Schnucks ! Self-checkout is a recent development at Aldi stores in the UK. No doubt someone will correct me, if I am wrong, but I would guess they were introduced three or four years ago. Being retired, I tend to shop little and often and remember the slight irritation when I had to join a long queue for a staffed checkout.

Great vlog Hannah. We shop at Aldi for dry and tinned items but i find there fresh items not to be so good and don't stay fresh very long at all. We normally get our fresh meat and vegetables from Waitrose as very good quality and are actually very good prices. Anyways have a lovely weekend and we look forward to your next vlog 😊

When i lived in Cornwall, Aldi's was on my daily walking route. So easy to do my walk one way, then going back to the house, i would stop at the shops i needed to get to. I really miss being able to walk to pretty much anything i needed, or if needed, take a bus/tube/train. I was in a lot better physical and respiratory shape while I lived in the UK for 18 months....lost from 14 stone to 8.5

Was fun to watch. Always enjoy your videos. In the US, grocery prices seem to be at least twice as much. One dozen eggs here were around $7 recently, or 5.73 British pounds, in part due to a shortage because of the bird flu. I bought 2 bags of groceries this morning with nothing unusual included and it was $63 US (51 Brit. Pounds) My receipt noted I saved $27 because some items were at a reduced price.

Good overview of Aldi, Hannah. I'm totally disloyal. Get a big shop from Sainsbury's as I have no transport, then check out better prices items at other supermarkets. Mind you there is something going on with Arla or Muller produced milk and dairy supplied to supermarkets, except for organic. As I'm a German born resident, it's always interesting getting to see, what "Aldi" offers in Ireland or the UK, compared to the, different, sortiment of groceries of "Aldi" in Germany. In Germany, they also offer milk, cheeses, sausages, fruits and vegetables ( ALL in organic quality ). I always do buy "organic" eggs, as they are animal-friendly, don't taste of fish meal, ( metallic taste! ), unlike the non-organic eggs ( fish meal is the food of non-organic kept hens, in a small cage, size of a DIN-A-4-sheet of paper, they put 4 poor hens in non-organic stables ( often cannibalism there! ), the organic kept hens are allowed to walk outside their stables, eat corn, grass, drink water, see sun- and daylight! Just some cents/pence more for purchasing "organic eggs" end animal cruelty, supply better taste and support the "organic"-hen farms. Dear greetings from Dublin, Suschka.🙋‍♀️😃❤️

@@Wolfstar-z7d I have never, ever seen 'Pasteur fed or even pasture fed,' on any egg box in UK, including Waitrose or M&S, and it is definitely NOT a part of the official grading of eggs. And what is Pasteur? Pasteurisation is for sure possible for eggs, in which the eggs are heated to kill bacteria but not cook the eggs. I feel somehow you are confusing Pasteur and pasturisation with pastures, which are green areas for grazing animals? But free range does not, by implication mean that we can conjure up small farmyards with chickens scratching in the dirt and free to roam. Having had a job (though not egg-related) on a free range egg producing unit I can catagorically say that there can be thousands of chickens with very basic shelters. But the only time they will not have access to fresh air is when producers are forced to keep chickens indoors because of an outbreak of bird flu. There is no room for sentiment in any product intended for supermarket sale and if you misguidedly think it exists, best think again and then find yourself an independent seller with a smallholding. (Not practical for most city dwellers). You also say you were 'told' about the Pasteur thing. Is that your criteria for fact finding? If it is, please don't spread it. Anyone can 'tell' anyone anything they choose. It doesn't make it true.

@@johnd6487Lidl had clearly marked 'Eggs from caged hens' for sale the otber week.
At least the colony cages - which are the most intensive production now permitted in the UK - are a lot better than batteries.
A friend and I used to get a few ex-battery hens every year from a hen welfare charity; I now live in a flat so had to give that up but my friend still gets them. Her numbers fluctuate, of course, but for the past few years she's had NONE of the unfeathered creatures we used to get before battery cages were eliminated, and they've all known how to scratch and get on a perch - which battery hens could't do. So although I still wouldn't buy caged hen eggs by choice, things have improved at least a little bit for the hen.

I managed to persuade her that the contents were often produced by the same suppliers as Sainsbury's, Tesco or M&S. Therefore she shouldn't get so hung up about the packaging.
