I have a rocket 3 which has a 12v charging port near the headlight...can you completely remove the power cable from the support bracket and just charge from the usb port.
You can do that if you want to. The power cable doesn't influence how the device snaps in place. You could leave the power cable in place and just don't connect it either. The disadvantage of powering over USB is that connection is not waterproof.
@@bnordin66able No. It will work using 5V. That's why you can use it with an XT1 mount and power cable or using a USBC cable and car adaptor that comes with the car kit.

Xt2 needs 12v. Usb provides only 5v
