One of the most hilarious moments of this live performance was bassist Dave '''Phoenix'' Ferrel barely holding his balance when going all out at the end. Mans almost face planted hard but managed to save himself just in time haha.
Im allways amazed how much breath control Chester had. He is jumping around, but still has enough air for all screams and flip to softer singing. Only in the melody parts you see he cant hold the tone longer sometimes. Still incredible for a singer.
So an amazing thing about what he does is he hunches over like as much as he possibly can and thats brilliant for him to do because all of the noises he makes, all of the power comes from the sternum. Hunching over like that just opens you up for all that extra power, so like the guy is literally not holding back at all when he does his thing. It's wild. I can't fathom having that much vocal power.
@@DevilWearsAdidas vocal power comes from the diaphragm. the sternum isn't moving, so it's not providing power for his voice. it's all the more impressive that he can sign so well in such a rough body position.
Mike's crowd control and how he communicates with the fans deserves way more acknowledgement than he's gotten. It's just that he does so many things so well, he plays the piano, he raps, he plays guitar, does a lot of the studio work and mixing so there's just so many things you can point to and say "Mike does x well". With Chester what stands out is his singing, so it's just easier to point to that one thing. But Mike deserves to be acknowledged more for what he brings for sure.
Mike Shinoda also has a remix/reinterpretation of Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence which you've already reacted to that's quite special, definitely one I think you'd enjoy.
It's not a competition, they are both good. For me Mike Shinoda is alright at a bunch of things, but tbh there are many producers and multi instrumentalists that have done incredible things in many genres (BT, Reznor, Aphex etc) and some others that might not have gotten the commercial recognition Shinoda has gotten due to how the everyone in the band collectively made Linkin Park a success. I don't think he's extremely good at any one thing in particular and that's ok. But Chester was at singing and yes it will always outshine the rest because that's what unique talented artists do, even if they don't mean to, they are the driving force behind it all in the end. That can annoy some people sometimes and trigger them but it is just the way it goes.
This is my favorite performance of this song. It just shows a lot of Chester's vocal talents. Mike and Chester both get their energy from both the audience and each other. Mike Shinoda and Mark Wakefield (former vocalist before Chester) wrote this song in 1996. The original name of this song is Esaul. At the time when this song was written the band's name was Xero.
I was at this concert. Dallas, Texas in the old Cowboys stadium. Metallica was the headliner. Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, and Deftones also performed at this show.
3:42 the thing about Linkin Park, is that they use a lot of ambient sounds and instruments. This is the background sound that you brought up, and they did that with Chester’s vocals on different ranges, so you can hear him high pitch screaming, low pitch screaming, melodic vocals, growls, and even whispering. They way they do it is just unreal and only Linkin Park can pull it off this well. Chester will forever be the face of Linkin Park but Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn are the guys that do all of the production and the “busy work” for Linkin Park, and Joe is severely underrated for what he does. He’s the DJ in the group, but he and Mike have created all of Linkin Park’s album covers, they mix and produce every song, and they even get in on some background instrumentals going on, like the ambient guitar and background hip-hop drums you hear in Meteora, Minutes to Midnight and Living Things. I could talk about these guys forever, I love Linkin Park so much. Amazing reaction, beautifully done!
Typically a band smashes their instruments for one of two reasons, one) they just want the shock value of destroying their instruments on stage, or two) there were some sort of technical difficulty and they just got really pissed off. it’s possible since this is an official release that Sound Engineer covered up the errors in the show, but we still have the video footage

Its one of my favourite Chester's performances and lyrics were based on the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Ah, another classic by the band. This song was my ringtone for literal years, and the whole Live in Texas concert was incredible. If you're curious, Mike's actually done a lot of really good solo work in the last few years, and you should definitely have a look. This was another great reaction, love your work.
I was at this concert when they came to Toronto, this was back in 2003 i believe and they opened for Metallica! Killer show! LP stole the show that night! I am glad that I got to see them, especially after we lost Chester! Chester's death still breaks my heart he was one of my fav musicians! RIP Chester!

You should react to “Roads Untraveled” by Linkin Park. It’s a really beautiful track sung by Chester and Mike. I wouldn’t really recommend the live version though since Mike played it after Chester’s passing, so Chester isn’t present during the live version, but I highly recommend the studio version!
Keep in mind that was early 2000s where Chester had major issues with drugs and (in my opinion he was on that day) but in a different way keeping him true to him self over be someone else and i cant diss this part of him. Also i have the feeling Lord of the rings had inspiration of the sound of Nazgûls in LOTR from Chester performance at the begining. Was so intence scream always make reference to LOTR when i hear this version of the song.
